Chapter 1

~Riley~

I stared out the window of the jet. My stomach twisted in knots as I waited for it to land. It had been almost ten years since I’ve seen my dad and I was nervous of course. While I did spend my first eight years of life on the farm, moving from New York City to a teeny tiny town in butt fuck nowhere, it was a tad bit overwhelming to say the least.

I took deep breaths to calm my beating heart. I had nothing to worry about really. Moving to New York was a hell of a lot worse, but somehow this felt different. I suddenly regretted my decision in outfit choice knowing that absolutely no one dressed like they do in New York. My heels and mini skirt wouldn’t cut it. Luckily I packed enough jeans to last me a while.

Over the intercom the pilot spoke, “buckle up Miss Riley. We’re preparing to land.” I did as he asked and looked out the window. It was happening. There was no turning back now. It was either go back home to what I left for multiple reasons or stay here and hope that no one finds out about those reasons.

I had promised mom that I would tell dad, but that most definitely wasn’t going to happen. I was moving to avoid my problems and opening up about them, especially with my dad, would be no better than staying in New York. Besides, his viewpoint of me would change immensely once he knew. I didn’t want to be viewed as the victim again.

I closed my eyes as the plane landed. Thankfully no it was nice and smooth making the trip less stressful. I was then helped out of my seat. Louis reached out a hand, “follow me Miss. Your mother had one of the cars sent for you.”

I rolled my eyes and followed him to the door of the jet, “I told her that wasn’t necessary. I’m the new girl for crying out loud. Driving around in a white Rolls Royce will not make anything easier.”

He stood in front of the door to let me go first, “she insisted. Don’t worry Miss Riley. It will be alright.”

The passenger door of the Rolls Royce was held open for me as I slipped in. I was very disappointed with my mom. Louis sat next to me and crossed his hands in his lap, “don’t get upset with your mom Riley. She just wanted to make sure you get there safely.”

I crossed my arms and looked out the window, “yeah well maybe if she wasn’t in England with the Queen, she could make sure of that herself, but here we are.”

“She loves you.” Louis was my butler and the best butler at that. He was the one person I would actually miss. If he could stay with me I would love him too, but he has a family and I wouldn’t take them away from him. He continued, “she’s busy that’s all. I know you wish she could’ve been there more for you, but her career is very draining. It’s what she loves to do.”

I sighed, “I know I know.” My mom’s career was the reason we moved. A tiny town doesn’t help her advance much at all. She made a name for herself in New York and now she’s a world renowned fashion designer and she couldn’t be happier. Apparently her marriage to my dad wasn’t worth it.

The drive was about forty minutes of fields and tiny towns. It was boring I’ll admit, but it was nice to not be stuck in traffic and honked at every few seconds. I spend the drive reading like I always do. Shakespeare was my personal favorite.

That’s when I saw it. It was the same pretty much just a new paint job. The house was big and homey just as I remembered it. The wrap around porch with a swing set made every memory come flooding back. We can’t forget about the big oak tree in the front yard with a tire swing. It was always my favorite and I was glad my dad had left it.

The farm house was surrounded by fields. My dad liked it that way saying that it gave us more privacy from the road. The big red barn sat right next to the house with a new paint job as well. Clearly my dad had been doing some nice upgrades. Behind the house was the huge field for the horses and cows with a stable along the fence. I couldn’t wait to hop back up on my horse. It was only a matter of time.

Different tractors flooded the front lawn making it look like a mechanic shop. I wondered what he was doing with them, but my attention was brought to the porch. The screen door slammed shut in its frame and my dad stepped out on the porch. He was still the same. His hair was now gray and he had a beard, but just like always, he had a beer in hand. He set it down on the railing and walked down the old creaky stairs.

As soon as the car parked, Louis got out and opened the door for me. He always insisted and it made me feel important even though I most definitely wasn’t. I turned around to face my dad. He picked me up and spun me around like I was a child.

“Dad, I’m wearing a skirt. I would rather not flash everyone.”

He chuckled and set me down in front of him, “sorry Riles.” Riles was his nickname for me. I loved and still do. It was good to hear his voice that I had forgotten years ago.

He looked me up and down, “well if I’ve been mistaken, it looks like you’ve turned into a beautiful young lady.”

I blushed, “Dad, I’m not a fan of flattery.”

“You never have been sweetie, but too bad. I’m so proud of you. I wish I could’ve watched you grow up these past ten years, but I’m happy I at least get you for this last one. Do you know what you want to do after high school?”

I shook my head, “No not really. I never really thought about it to be honest. Since mom is ya know, rich. I haven’t really had a job or anything to know what I like and don’t like.”

“We can change that.”

Someone yelled, “Fuck!” Me and my dad both turned to see some laying on the ground beneath a tractor. I didn’t see his face but I was instantly drawn to the bit of skin visible on his abdomen and I must say he was ripped. The little bit of abs had me turned on in a second and my eyes trailed down his body to the V right before his waistband. His Calvin Klein underwear peeped out of the top of his jeans and I was instantly hooked.

My dad called after him, “Luke are you okay?”

The man crawled out from under the tractor and oh my goodness when he stood I was in awe. He was tall and muscular. His white shirt strained around his biceps. I had to look away to hide the redness filling my face. His eyes were deep blue like the ocean and they fit perfectly against his tan skin. His dark brown hair was intoxicating, making me want to run my hands through it. I quickly reminded myself that I needed to stop.

He walked towards me and my dad just proving how tall he was even more towering about a foot taller than me. My dad looked at me, “Riley, this is Luke. He helps out around the farm and he’s actually a senior just like you. He volunteered to drive you to school and such.”

Luke reached his hand out completely ignoring the fact it was covered in tractor oil, “nice to meet you Riley.”

I looked at his hand unsure before shaking it, “you too.”

He pulled the white cloth out of his back pocket, “sorry about that.”

I giggled, “a little dirt doesn’t hurt.”

He turned towards my dad, “I like her already Mr. Chambers.”

I tried to hide the blush on my face again. My dad put his arm around me, “she may be from a big city, but she’ll always be a country girl at heart.”

I rolled my eyes, “no I just know how to wash my hands like a sane person.”

“Let’s help her with her bags.” My dad turned to Louis who was attempting to pull my three massive pink suitcases out of the trunk.

Luke took two while my dad grabbed the other one. I was amazed how they both carried them with ease like they were nothing, but I guess manual labor does that to you.

My room was the exact same. It’s like my dad didn’t touch a thing. It brought back so many great memories. I was just happy to be home. My dad set the bag down, “Luke would you help her unpack?”

Luke set my other bags down, “yeah, if Riley is okay with that.”

They both looked at me waiting for an answer, “uhh yeah that’s fine he can help if he wants.”

And he did. We spent the next couple hours unpacking my clothes in silence. I glanced at Luke to see he was holding one of my lace thongs up. He held it like it was covered in something. I snatched it out of my hand and pursued my hair behind my ear, “sorry.” I blushed once again. I was starting to think that everyone would be getting very used to me blushing.

To change the topic of that awkward situation I knew of down and pulled more clothes out, “so what do you do for my dad?”

He shrugged, I mainly work on the tractors and trucks. I’m pretty handy when it comes to mechanics. Otherwise I also clean the stables and care for the animals and such.”

I hung up one of my very very expensive sweaters in my closet, “my dad acts like he needs a lot of help.” I rolled my eyes, “all he does is sit around and drink beer.”

Luke leaned against the wall, “actually, he’s been taking care of the animals a lot. He is a vet after all.”

“Even when I was a kid he didn’t take care of the animals much. It’s always been his farm helpers job.” I didn’t believe him one bit.

“Well maybe when you and your mom decided to leave him for no reason, he needed something to distract himself.”

I took a deep breath trying my best to not get angry with him, “my mom left for her reasons. I’ll admit the way she left was definitely not okay, but she wasn’t happy here. When I went with her I thought I was just going on a trip with her. At least that’s what she told me, but now here I am. So don’t give me that shit.”

He put his hands up in defeat, “alright.”

~Luke~

I only had one word for her. Gorgeous. She was absolutely everything I could ever ask for. Obviously I wasn’t going to say anything. My dad decided I can’t date long ago. Even though I’m a legal adult, I still wouldn’t do that to Mr. Chambers. So here I was trying my best to not look at her in that way, but the second I pulled that small lace thong from her bag, I couldn’t help the hardness that formed in my pants. This was going to be hard. Extremely hard.

I’ve never really liked girls. All of the ones here in this rinky dink town are either complete bitches or swooning over me too much. Riley was different. While she won’t say where or who her mom is, I know she’s rich, like extremely rich. You wouldn’t think that she comes from Money besides how she dresses. She was a little spitfire too. I couldn’t wait for her to have a run in with Marcy.

I sighed as I closed my truck door and headed home for the night. Tomorrow was her first day and I was nervous for her. I have no doubt that she’ll fit in, but it’s going to take some time.

I hung my keys up on the hook near the back door before heading up to my room. Of course both my sister and my mom had to be sitting in my room waiting for me. They were annoying no doubt.

I kicked my boots off, “what do you want?”

My mom smiled obnoxiously, “we want to know about Riley. Noah has called about her nonstop and we want to know if she’s everything he says she is.”

“Hailey, you’ll find out at school tomorrow and mom why? I have no energy for this right now.”

Hailey whined, “but Luke! Please. I want to be prepared. Do you think she’ll wanna be friends with me?”

I pulled my dirty shirt over my head and threw it in the pile of clothes, “you sound like a second grader and I don’t know. How should I know? I also could care less.” I did care slightly. I didn’t want her here at my house. It would make my hopes of trying to stay away from her a million times harder.

Hailey faked a gag, “I’m out of here.” She stormed out without another thought.

I turned to my mom, “can you leave too. I’m not in the mood for this right now.”

She stood up and turned, “as you wish.”
