Destiny
From the moment I stepped off the bus I felt free. Every scent, every color, every texture created a new sense of reality…MY new reality. No more overthinking every decision or waiting for fate to decide. No more putting myself last behind thankless others. I could finally live my life for myself. Never had I felt so alive. Never again would I, Kate Winslow, ever be anything less than fearless.
That first step was monumental. The courage needed to trust something so foreign was something equally unfamiliar. I had never been on my own before… never like this and never with this feeling of freedom and relief. I no longer had to bow down to the rest or bite my tongue instead of saying what needed to be said. I was an orphan and part of the Athena Pack. No one ever told me who my parents were, but I often hoped one day I’d discover it was all a lie, and they would come for me. By my 18th birthday I had given up on the idea. That was until I realized my mate was the leader of the pack. Except he immediately broke our bond and cast me away. What he didn't know though was he did me a tremendous favor and sent me on my way to my true destiny.
