Prologue

“As the first snowflake settled, it whispered secrets of a winter tale waiting to unfold.”

This story is set in a post-apocalyptic world around 2030.

A meteor shower has plunged the world back into a second ice age. Billions of people died during the crash of the meteorites and billions more died in the years that followed.

The remaining humanity tried to build a new existence by establishing small settlements in underground shelters, underground stations, bunkers and all, as the icy cold made it difficult to survive above ground.

Most settlements wanted to survive and keep the peace among themselves, but as always, this was not true for everyone.

Small gangs of robbers looted the more peaceful settlements of their food and livestock, and young, fertile women were not safe from these looters either.

In one of these settlements, Morgan lived with her 17-year-old daughter Reah, her 14-year-old son Viggo and 12-year-old stepdaughter Elise. Morgan’s husband had died during the meteor shower five years earlier. Although life in the new era was tough, they were happy.

Until one day, now three days ago, a gang of robbers turned their lives upside down again.

Together with her children and elderly couple Steve and Mads, Morgan managed to flee.

Silver's Second Chance

Ku_Rolet: I love the story and the love between the couple. It doesn’t drag unnecessarily, which I really enjoyed. However, I felt that the ending was a bit rushed because Silver being a druid was revealed so suddenly, without much explanation. That part of the story still feels like a mystery, especially how...
