Chapter 1
Chapter 1:
I walk down the street. My gait is fast and unbreaking. I feel like I'm being followed. The cool wind blows through my hair as I lift my head to a sight all the more chilling. I'm momentarily stopped in my tracks as I stand in awe at the sight before me.
"Un-fucking-believable." I mutter to myself. Looming over me I see a symbol all too familiar. I know you've seen it. It pervades and destroys our society on a level only challenged by that of the Golden Arches. But hey, that's the 'choose to kill yourself' kind of evil.
No, this symbol is inescapable. If you choose to avoid it, it finds you instead. They knock on our doors preaching their word. They taint our media with their messages and propaganda. Their imagery perches high above the rafters of the buildings they construct to brainwash and control us. Their prying eyes pervade their monuments that line our streets to corrupt our minds and indoctrinate our youth.
I spit on the ground, and I keep it pushing. I put up my hood and give a shake of my head trying to clear the anger from my mind. I continue my walk, faster now, can't have anyone gaining on me.
I've run into some of their agents in the past. They roam the streets with pamphlets, handbooks, signs and scriptures. They preach what they know to be true and dismiss what you know to be false. They push you to worship things beyond our comprehension, but get aggressive when you can't comprehend the thought of it.
It angers me more than ever. It seems I am the only one not deceived by their lies. Even my own family has begun to pressure me to follow in their footsteps and see the mighty light and let it take me to the great beyond when the time comes to pass. They expect me to follow their ideals and demands and commandments and I just won't fucking do it.
Don't they see how they are being tricked? Doesn't matter, if they're too dumb to see it then they aren't worth my time. I don't talk to them anymore, nor anybody who cannot see through the charade being forced down our throats to lead us down a path of their design and their design only.
Before I reach my home, I see it one more time. This time placed right upon my doorknob. Unreal, they can even get me where I live. No matter what, I vow to never fall under their control even if i'm the last one standing against them in this city, this country or the goddamned world.
The pamphlet reads, "Reinvigorate your life, love thy neighbor, support your community and join 'The Khorus' today!"
