Chapter 1
Ruby’s POV
I wake up in a pitch-black room with just the barest glint of light coming from the small window in the corner of the room.
I try and lift my left hand haphazardly to rub the sleep from my eyes when I realise my right is chained to the wall. Afterwards, I tried to make out my surroundings before I had a proper look at the room I was in.
As I surveyed the small room, my eyes landed on a lone window in the corner. Next to it stood a stack of boxes, their surfaces dusty and worn from age. Curiosity piqued, and I decided to test the limits of the chains that bound me. Slowly and deliberately, I took a few cautious steps forward, my eyes fixed on the far wall. The chains rattled and clanked as I moved, their weight a constant reminder of my captivity. I made it only halfway across the room before the chains yanked me back, forcing me to stop and pivot on my heels. I turned to face the window once more, the sunlight streaming in and casting a warm glow across the boxes. As I walked back to my starting point, I couldn't help but feel a sense of defeat wash over me. I was trapped, with no hope of escape.
As I lowered myself onto the chair once more, I caught sight of a pair of small, beady eyes fixed on me from the far corner of the room. My heart skipped a beat and I instinctively tensed up before reminding myself that it was likely just a harmless creature. I blinked a few times to adjust my focus and gradually let my guard down as the realization set in that the creature wasn't going to approach me.
As I was about to inspect the surroundings of the room, my attention was suddenly drawn to a sharp lock sound. I turned to look towards the door and saw it swing open, revealing the silhouette of a man. It was him. The very same man who had initiated all of this chaos and confusion.
“Hello Ruby” Alex answered with a sinister grin
