Meeting The Prince
Lydia's POV:
"What do you mean the prince? I figured we were just a normal town." I told my friend as we were sitting in the cafeteria eating our lunch.
"Oh come on girl, how long have you lived here?" My friend asked me while crossing her arms.
"My whole life." I told her while taking a bite out of my turkey and cheese sandwhich.
"So how come you didn't know there was a prince?" She asked me as she took a bite of her salad. I sighed, looking at my sandwich, honestly I grew up not knowing anything, my parents keeping me sheltered and never let me go out or letting me have friends. I bet the news was crawling with stuff about the prince or whatever but my parents don't have a TV. I never told anyone or told people about the abuse I endure on a daily basis so I was surprised that 2 years ago my parents told me I needed to go to school, my mom was homeschooling me up until then. I'm 17 and my birthday is tomorrow but no one knows, except of course my parents.
"I guess I've been in the dark about that." I told her lying.
"Anyway, he's coming to our school and to top it off he is looking for his soulmate." She told me.
"And?" I raised an eyebrow. "Everyone wants a soulmate."
"You don't know anything do you?" She asked me. "Okay so he's a vampire, he and the supernatural world have a red string of fate, it's supposed to lead them to their soulmate."
"Wait, wait....he's a vampire. Those are real?" I swallowed hard.
"Oh my god Lydia, have you been living under a rock?" She sighed heavily. "Listen he will be here tomorrow okay." The day went by like usual even me going home and getting the usual abuse then when I woke up I screamed jumping up looking at my pointer finger, there on that finger was a red string.
Caspien's POV:
It finally appeared, the red string finally appeared, which meant that my soulmate was human and that she just turned 18. How can my luck be that bad that my soulmate is human. I went down to the living room, my mom was in the kitchen and my dad was sitting on the couch, he saw my sour face before I sighed heavily.
"What's wrong?" He looked me in the eyes. Unlike most vampires we are pure blood which means we can look human without worrying about the hunters.
"Finally got my string." I fell onto the couch looking up at the ceiling. "She's human dad."
"So? It doesn't matter son." He set down his newspaper. "The thing I'm still upset about is that you drink animal blood."
"Dad." I growled, I couldn't stand human blood it was like I was allergic to it. "To be honest now I'm glad I don't drink human blood since now my soulmate is human." I knew I was still going to school, it was to find my soulmate and now I'm that much closer to her. Mom came into the living room with my bottle and dads, I sighed holding it in my hand. "I'll drink it later." I got up grabbing my backpack from the hook and then felt my mom grabbing my hand.
"Sweetie you need to eat." She told me but I looked away, it wasn't that my soulmate was human it was just that I now have to bring her to this life. "If you are worried about her getting involved with us don't....she will adjust, your father did. Drink the blood please, we will do this together....we are family."
Lydia's POV:
I arrived at school late, I had to make food and then quickly cover the black eye with makeup because my scream woke up my brother which pissed my parents off. My friend Abby was by her locker.
"Girl you're never late you okay..." Her eyes drifted down to my finger, apparently she could see the string. "You have a red string."
"No shit." I opened my locker and shoved my backpack into my locker. "Wait how can you see it?" I asked.
"I'm half werewolf, all supernatural can see the red string even if it's not ours. Which means your soulmate is supernatural." She said.
"Yeah well....I really could care less." I slammed my locker shut and swallowed trying to keep my tears back. "I just want to run away." I sniffled and bit my bottom lip, I had a plan to run away after I graduate, get away from my parents and find a better life for myself but first I had to get a job. If they barely let me go to school the chances of them letting me work are slim to none, I started to walk to my class when all of a sudden I saw chest and a hit a hard wall. I backed away, my eyes looked up into a deep brown eyes.
"Be careful sweetheart." He winked at me then walked away.
"Girl do you realize who that was? That was Jackson the hottest werewolf here." She swooned and sighed heavily. My string pulled which made me stop, I looked at the direction my eyes searching the hallway. "Did you just feel a tug?" I nodded at her question, "that means he's here in the school now." She looked as well. I just shrugged then went to my first class again. As I came in I felt stares, not to me but to my friend Abby, she was always that girl that catches everyone's attention. I went to my seat wishing I was somewhere else, the teacher came into class then cleared his throat.
"Excuse me class but today is the start of the prince's journey through school, he will be in this class so I hope that this class behaves around him and welcomes him in." The teacher explained, right then and there my string lead to the hand at the front of the class, it was then I realized that my soulmate was the prince himself.
Caspien's POV:
The drive to school was tiring, my mom not stopping her rant about girls and humans. As soon as we arrived I finally noticed that my string led into the school. I was partly thankful since I didn't have to go to every school in the state just to look for her. I could hear my mom talking still so I faced her putting a fake smile.
"Mom I'm going now." I faced away then headed into school. The principal was waiting for me in the hallway smiling with his hands behind his back.
"This way your highness." He told me while walking away.
"Just call me Caspien, I'd rather not have anyone see me as prince but as a normal person." I told him. As he was giving me a tour, students still in the hallway I felt the tug on the string which meant she was close but then he gave me the rest of the tour. He gave me a locker number and combination, my schedule and a map incase I got lost but knowing me that won't happen. He led me to my first class then smiled, my string leading to my first class.
"See you around Caspien, hope that you feel at home here." He told me then started walking away. I opened the door, the teacher waving me in and as soon as I smelled werewolf it angered me because where the string ended was where the scent was all over. My blue eyes glowed red, I couldn't believe that a wolf touched her first, she was beautiful with brown hair down to her waist and green eyes. Something though caught my eyes, they turned back to blue but I saw a little purple on the side of her left eye.
"Teacher may I talk to one of your students out in the hall?" I asked, "girl in the third row, middle with brown hair and green eyes." I held my hands in front of me.
"Oh you mean Lydia, of course your highness." He smiled, I saw her tense then look at her probable friend next to her with worry on her face. "Lydia, go on." The teacher crossed his arms. She got up then came up to me, the string connecting us even though we were only a foot apart. I led her out to the hallway and as soon as the classroom door closed I pinned her to the wall. She flinched then closed her eyes, realization hit me as now I knew what caused the purple next to her eye. I pulled away from her, her eyes opened as I looked away.
"You don't deserve this." I spoke softly, she tilted her head confused. "You need love." I reached for her cheek but stopped my hand.
"Ha..like you know what I go through." She rolled her eyes but then looked at me as I have an understanding look to my face.
"Your parents hit you don't they. It's why you flinch and why you have a black eye." I looked at her with sad eyes.
"You don't know that." She said with a shaky voice.
"Your makeup rubbed off." I looked down the hallway.
"Why do you care? You're the prince and you're a vampire, plus you don't even know me." She looked me in the eyes.
"While you may have a point, there's also no denying the string, and while you may have gotten it just today, I've been wanting it for a long time to appear and I'll be spending my time showing and proving it to you that I'm not leaving your side." I told her.
