Shock & Denial
It was a Monday night. I was in my room. The room was dark with only light peering from the apartment window coming from the city of Shantou.
My dad had a lot of money, he was a Qualified lawyer for fifteen years. I never understood why he always choose the cheaper side of life, I knew we could afford at least a nice house. Anyways, it was always busy. You could see the taxis that came by and the people walking on the sidewalks.
That day it was raining hard. I was studying in my room when I heard my dad yelling for down stairs. I tippey-toed to the door and peeked down stairs. He was arguing with a man I had never seen before. I heard some things they said. Something like, "I don't have.." and "you can't have.." It was too loud between the rain and the distance I was from them. I saw that my dad was mad at the man and the man was just as mad at him.
My dad turned around and look at me. He looked even more mad then before.
" Get back to your f*cking room." He Yelled
I ran back to my room and began to do my Homework again. This wasn't a not-normal thing for my dad. He was always yelling and always mad. I started seeing a therapist because of him. He's verbally abusive but he was always in denial.
He used to scare me, but he yells so much that it doesn't bother me any more.
The next day I was getting ready for school. I wore a white collared shirt with a neck tie and a shirt, with my knee high socks and pink Anta Shoes. I put on my bracelet made of little clear, brow, grey, and pink rocks and a cross charm.
Then all of a sudden I heard my dad call for me.
He looked at me as if I did something wrong, but I knew he always sounded like that.
"Your staying home today." He said with a mad and some what frightened face.
"Wait, but dad I have-" He stopped me.
"You're staying home" I knew not to ask any other questions, he was already tired of seeing me.
So I walked back in my room. I looked at my window and thought for a minute. I caught myself thinking about leaving.
"no." I think to myself.
"I don't want to get in trouble."
"Eh but I have important test."
That was my last thought before a jumped out of the window. I landed on my feet and started walking to school. I walked about Two miles from the apartment. Until I looked to my left and saw a grey van following me.
So I made a right to see if the van would still follow me, and sure enough it was still there. I thought about calling my dad but I was scared so I just kept walking.
By the time I knew it the van was parking its self right in front of me.
A man walked out. I had to take a second look at the man because he looked like the same man my dad was telling at the night before.
He started to walk faster. So I started to walk faster. Then all of a sudden the man started to run. He caught up to me and put his arm on my waist forcefully and his other around my mouth.
He hastily opened the van and that's when I saw about Ten or Eleven girls sitting crunched on side of each other. Many where full of what looked like dirt and they all had on the same thing. A cheap looking grey shirt and black underwear.
Before I knew it. I was in the back of the van crunched with all Eleven of the girls I counted.
They all looked scared, but one stood out to me. It was a little girl. A much young girl then the rest. Me and the girl locked eyes, but then she suddenly look down as if she was afraid or getting in trouble.
One of the girls looked at me and said "Hey."
I looked back at her but didn't say anything.
"I'm talking to you." she said
" Your fine you'll get used to it sooner or later"
I started crying. I didn't know how else to react. If I would have just stayed home-.
I could through my tears that most of the girl felt sorry for me.
"Hi." I said unsteady.
"Im Kim.. Kim Che." She responded
"Xiu Chen. My name is Xiu Chen" I paused.
"And that's when I realized I had been kidnapped. I could not believe it at first.
"This can not be happening." I bursted in tears again
It was a long ride. Then all of a sudden the van stopped. He opened the door and there was him, a lot of dessert, and a big tin house.
