Chapter 1
Chapter 1
On the dying planet of Mythoria, the dragon princess and her husband, E’vie and A’kar, rushed to an evacuation pod, cradling their baby boy.
“Be quick, we have to send him away. Our kind can’t end like this,” E’vie pleaded through tears.
“It’s ready to go. Should we leave him with any last words?” A’kar asked.
“Of course,” E’vie sobbed, “our darling boy, please grow up well and good.”
The pod sealed shut, freezing the infant and ejecting him from the dying planet.
“Where is it taking him to?” E’vie questioned.
“A planet with a minimal threat level that cannot hurt him - ‘Earth.’”
Meanwhile, on Earth, a couple, Susan and John, contemplated their own struggles on a beach. The news from a doctor had shattered their hopes of having a child together. Suddenly, a pod landed on the beach, and curiosity led them to investigate.
“Susan, what do you think that is?” John pondered.
“I have no idea.”
The pod opened, revealing a tiny dragon, who miraculously transformed into a human baby boy. Astonished, the couple faced a decision.
“Let’s get out of here,” John suggested nervously.
“Are you really going to leave a baby out here?” Susan protested. “He’s not normal, but if we take him in, he might actually eat us.“John said
“Nothing bad will happen. Look at him; he’s a baby. Plus, we always wanted one. If he isn’t good, we can drop him at an orphanage,” Susan insisted.
The couple adopted the mysterious child, setting the stage for a unique family dynamic.
14 years later
In the Rand household, Max faced teasing from schoolmates, Joshua, Zack, and Jake.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t mittens boy,” Joshua taunted.
“Are you going to wear mittens in high school too, loser?” Zack added with a laugh.
Max, the dragon boy, responded defiantly, “I don’t wear mittens since I was 12.”
Joshua poured water on Max’s head, triggering a hasty retreat.
At home, Max greeted his parents, Susan and John, before a family visit.
“Hey, honey, how was your final day at middle school?” Susan asked.
“It was great. At least I won’t see those jerks again,” Max replied, grabbing his favorite drink, Mr. Slushie.
The Rand visited their relatives, Cassy and Bob his aunt and Uncle , and Max’s cousin, Sarah. Max’s attempts at bonding with Sarah
He approachs her door with a Mr slushie blueberry flavoured drink in his hand, he opens it and sees her watching a video on “how to paint your nails”
“Wow, cool video,” said Max.
''What do you think you're doing in my room, and you didn’t even knock!'' Sarah screamed.
“Oh! Sorry! I forget!”
“Get out of my room!” Sarah shouted as she threw a pillow at Max.
“Ok, ok! Just chill out!”
Max goes back downstairs and hears a knock on the door and cassy opens it and to his surprise he sees his uncle who he hasn’t seen for the last 7 years.
Unexpectedly, Uncle James, unseen for seven years, arrived with plans for a USA trip.
“I really wanted to spend this break on my bed playing games,” Max protested.
“Looks like you and Sarah will be out with me,” James smiled.
“Ok then, well it might be cool”
“That’s the spirit max, can you please go up and call sarah for me?” Cassy asked.
“Sure.”
He goes back to her room, opens the door, and this time sees her having a video call with her friend
“Yo Sarah, your mom is calling you. We are about to go.''
“Go where? And wait why didn’t you knock on my door again?''
“I forget,” Max says, smiling.
Sarah gets annoyed and throws pillows at him until he gets out.
As Sarah gets down, she is told everything, and her mom gives her a cooking book
“Mom, I don’t need this.”
“Oh don’t worry you will when you can read it, call me and i will tell you more. Anyways have fun honey.''
“Ok, mom,”Sarah said, hugging Cassy.
The family prepared for the journey, issuing keys and a peculiar circular device to James.
“As we leave New York, we’ll head to Danville for some tunes,” James explained.
The warm evening breeze swept through the quaint town as the Randon family prepared to depart for their summer adventure. Max, a mix of excitement and uncertainty, clutched a Mr. Slushie in hand, his favorite comfort in times of contemplation.
As they boarded the bus, Susan and John bid their children farewell, the weight of unspoken concerns lingering in their gaze. Meanwhile, Uncle James, armed with a circular device adorned with a red button, received final instructions from Max’s parents.
“James, if anything strange happens, give Max this device. Tell him to call us,” Susan implored, her eyes revealing a mixture of trust and concern.
“That’s all you need to do,” John added, his tone reflective of both caution and hope.
“Cool. Seems like this trip is going to be wild,” James remarked with a wry smile, tucking the device safely into his pocket.
The bus rumbled to life, carrying the trio away from the familiar streets of New York towards the unknown adventure that awaited them. James, Max, and Sarah settled into their seats, the hum of the engine accompanied by the anticipation of the unexpected.
“As we leave New York, we’ll head to Danville. I need to meet a friend and pick up some tunes for our road trip,” James explained, casting a glance at the road stretching ahead.
“Sounds cool!” Max chimed in, trying to mask any lingering doubts.
Sarah, more reserved, nodded in agreement, her eyes filled with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension.
“Great, but we can’t get there now, so we’ll park and stop here for tonight,” James announced as the bus slowed to a halt, the night settling around them.
“So, what should we do?” Sarah asked, a spark of adventure in her eyes.
“You can go out, sightsee, but come back at 9-10 pm,” James suggested.
“Okay, cool. I’m going to walk in the park,” Sarah decided, already envisioning the tranquility of the moonlit landscape.
Max, on the other hand, pondered his options. “I’ll go to a store,” he declared.
With keys in hand and assurances given, the duo exited the bus, ready to explore the temporary haven that awaited them. Sarah, drawn to the serenity of the park, found solace on a bench, her thoughts momentarily escaping into a video call with a friend.
As Sarah’s world unfolded through the screen, a small dog approached, bringing a momentary distraction. However, tranquility turned to terror as more dogs, rabid and menacing, emerged from the shadows.
Meanwhile, just beyond the park’s edge, Max strolled, munching on peanuts. His casual evening took an unexpected turn when Sarah’s scream pierced the air. Reacting instinctively, he dropped his peanuts and sprinted towards the source of distress.
Sarah, cornered and frightened, faced the impending threat. A dog lunged, teeth bared, but Max, fueled by an inexplicable force, intervened. A punch, accompanied by an unexpected surge of fire, sent the assailant sprawling. The other dogs, gripped by fear, scattered into the night.
“What did you just do, Max?” Sarah exclaimed, her voice a mix of shock and awe.
“I don’t know. I think I fire-punched the dog. This has never happened to me,” Max admitted, bewildered by his newfound abilities.
“Okay, but why are your eyes glowing red?” Sarah questioned, her curiosity tinged with concern.
“Really? What the heck is happening to me?” Max wondered aloud, his gaze fixated on his hands, still tingling with the remnants of an unexplained power.
As the night unfolded, mysteries deepened, setting the stage for a journey where the ordinary would intertwine with the extraordinary. The chapter ended with Max and Sarah, standing on the precipice of the unknown, their destinies forever altered by the enigmatic powers that had awakened within them.
