Prolog

Once there were three feuding countries. The land of Miro, where all ruling kings achieved their victories solely through a fighting spirit and with a bare sword. There was Saron, led by excellent strategists; they managed to tide even with the smallest number of warriors. And lastly, Ura. Whose kings knew neither good battle strategies, nor possessed strong men. However, they owned the largest war machines, with which they rolled over entire regions and repelling any opposing attacks.

A problem arose for the kings of these lands.

Spoiled by victory, their vanity fails to refuse to acknowledge an opponent they couldn’t conquer - the mightiest of their neighbors who had led prolonged campaigns to them.

Miro faced Saron and Ura; Saron faced Miro and Ura; Ura faced Miro and Saron.

Thus, a terrible war erupted that seemed never-ending.

Generations, after generations until centuries passed, during which the citizens of these three countries cried out for exploitation.

Their fields were mainly cultivated for the kings’ armies, yet the farmers retained hardly anything of what they grew. Not even from the livestock they raised. Even the wine in the fields was solely destined for their kings and the festivals they held for the few wealthy citizens of the lands. The common people were left with only the essentials to survival.

In all their distress, there was hardly a commoner to stand up against it. Fear dominated them due to barbaric punishment. Even theft led to execution.

There were some groups that rebelled against their kings. However, without success. Every attempt to overthrow them was thwarted, and the culprits were publicly executed.

Deep in the heart of this rivalry, where the borders meet, a small thieves’ camp emerged. Led by the thief Alina, they stole from the wealthy citizens without giving the kings any reason to act.

For the thief and her gang, this was a rewarding time. Yet, she simply did not want to turn a blind eye to the misfortune of the poor citizens. So it came to pass that she rescued a kitchen maid from the henchmen of the king of Saron.

The poor girl’s sick parents could no longer pay their excessive taxes, and in their distress, she knew no other way than to steal some cutlery from the royal court. Shortly thereafter, her parents were also arrested to atone for th0ir daughter ’s guilt.

Alina not only took the girl in, but also freed their parents during the transfer of prisoners, and so it all began.

The once considered insignificant thieves camp grew faster than the kings anticipated. The kind act of the thief was a wake-up call to the people, and so refugees as well as rebels joined the camp which was hidden deep in the woods.

Everyone found a home there, and the simple camp turned into a village that defended its freedom with armed force.

The three countries temporarily set aside their differences.

Their goals changed.

Their opponent now was only this small village, which had become a symbol of bravery and freedom among the farmers.

In a battle, the royal army succeeds in capturing the thief with some of her subordinates, yet her shadow could not be driven away. Not even when Alina was executed did the farmers lose hope.

The village continued to grow and seemingly strengthened in its device of resistance.

Fueled by the will to survive, warriors from the royal armies joined them. With their help, they even looted powerful war machines from Ura.

Over the years, there were many leaders for the small village, predominantly woman who dominated it. Thus, the village was mostly referred by the people as the Amazon Village.

Though its greatest strength was gained when a young woman named Nette fled to the village.

At that time, king Teron ruled Saron, king Ylias ruled Miro, and king Selon ruled Ura. These kings decided among themselves a bet. Whoever succeeded in overthrowing the Amazone village would gain a quarter of each land added to his.

Meanwhile, the girl Nette rose to the leader of the village. Henceforth, she was revered as Queen of the Amazons. Although she never managed to overthrow the kings, she posed a well-fortified opponent with her good battle strategies and negotiation skill, whose defense no one could breach.

Particularly, Teron showed great interest in toppling the Amazon queen. Few know why. His warriors, like those of the other kings, only brought defeats back to the castle.

All this was about to change with a malicious plan.
