That Buddy from Singapore

I am Radhika Bhauguna. I live at Kempty Falls , a beautiful tourist destination in the Himalayas. If you get a chance, do visit my village – Jaidwar Talla. Today, I am going to share a personal story of a beautiful friendship. Let me start from the beginning.
I am studying at the Garhwal English Medium School[G.E.M.S] and our principal is Mrs. Lori Chauhan. One day in the winter of 2021, she asked us to give our whatsapp numbers to her. She got a message from some volunteers in Singapore, who were going to help grades 6,7,and 8 with our English. I was in grade 6 at that time. I gave my contact number. She told us that we would receive a message from a new number that week,and the Singapore Volunteers would take our classes. I was not really excited at that time about these classes. But in a week, the whole story and my thoughts changed. I received a message from a new contact. She was a volunteer from Singapore. After the message, my curiosity increased. We exchanged our introductions and Vritika became my English mentor.
Vritika was from New Delhi but she was studying in the 10th standard in Singapore. She helped me with my English for about four monṣths and then we lost touch due to our school commitments. Two years passed and there was no communication between us. One day, I suddenly remembered Vritika, and I messaged her. Surprisingly, I got a reply back. she was happy to get my message
She was is in 12th standard now, and had taken Hindi, English, Math, Biology, Chemistry and Psychology as her subjects. She aspired to go into medicine.
On July 1st 2023, we decided to have a video call. I was very excited to see her after so long. We could only talk for around 25 minutes at that time, because my mom asked me for the phone, and I couldn’t say no! Our call ended. Later, I saw that I had received a message from Vritika which said, ``It was nice seeing you after so long. You look pretty. Keep studying and I hope you achieve all your dreams. Let me know when you want to call.” I loved this message and typed out a message to her as well. ``It was a pleasure to see you after around two years, and it was fun to be with you. We will keep sharing things. Take care and hope to see you soon.” Vritika loved this message and replied that she loves my passion for learning whether it be English or Biology.
We kept in touch. Soon after that, my half yearly examination was about to begin and the subjects which I found the hardest were Math and History. Unfortunately, both these papers were exactly on the same day but Vritika came to my rescue and helped me solve my doubts in Mathematics and surprisingly , my exam went quite well.
Vritika and I share the same passion for learning . Her goodness made me strive to do better in my studies. Her wonderful English lessons helped me a great deal. Our friendship is blooming into a beautiful relationship and my desire is to see her with my eyes in real life. We both are waiting for that day when we will meet and have a lot of fun. And do you know? We both love romantic movies . Whenever I need a suggestion for songs, I would always ask Vritika . Be it movies or grammar, I always ask Vritika for her awesome advice .Her friendship has meant the world to me.
It’s almost been three years since we have known each other and I feel like it’s been a lifetime of a beautiful friendship. Vritika was a complete stranger to me and now, we have turned into the best of buddies.
