Summary
In the small town of Hollowridge, there lived a boy named Alex who was known as “The Boy that Never Was.” Abandoned by his birth parents, he was adopted into a life of cruelty by a woman named Mrs. Thompson. She was a woman without a trace of kindness, treating Alex with relentless physical, verbal, and mental abuse. Growing up in the shadows of his own existence, Alex harbored a deep well of anger and hate, his heart scarred by the harshness of his childhood. He had never experienced the warmth of a loving home, and the wounds inflicted upon him seemed to define his very existence. One fateful day, a glimmer of hope entered Alex’s life in the form of a kind-hearted girl named Emily. Intrigued by Alex’s silent struggle, she extended an invitation to her local church. Despite the walls he had built around himself, Alex found a flicker of curiosity and decided to attend. As he stepped into the church, a world he had never known unfolded before his eyes. Maureen: I liked how the author described how the characters were feeling. How there decisions and actions were influenced. This story would be a great movie, though I'm not sure how a movie could portray the emotions and inner thoughts of he characters as well as this story has.
