His Fairy Luna

Kali's POV

I was running through the forest as fast as my feet could carry me. I could hear them chasing me and knew I could never go back there. My feet were bare and the rough floor was cutting me but even though they were bleeding I didn't have time to worry about that, I needed to keep moving. Once I was safe I still needed to find my way out of this forest.

Out of breath and struggling to keep moving I could hear the sound of water running and hoped I could stop them following my scent in the water. Praying it was a river I could hear I headed over to where the sound was coming from and to my relief in front of me was a waterfall which led down to a river. I had no idea how long the river was but hopefully enough to get me away from here or at least long enough that they would find it harder to follow me not knowing which way I went.

Stepping into the cold water felt both good and painful on my sore and bloodied feet. I swam for what felt like forever and eventually couldn't hear anyone following me anymore. Laying on my back floating on the water as the current pulled me along I finally had time to relax.

"Right I needed to figure out what to do next, where to go, will they keep looking for me?" I mumbled to myself trying to stay awake and think of a plan. While I was distracted the current was getting faster and faster and it was too late by the time I tried to get out of the river I was caught in the current and had to try and stay above water.

A second waterfall was coming up and I started to panic. "Shit, shit... please no." The current was too strong and I was going over the edge.

Kaiden POV

Walking into my fathers office I could see the serious look on his face. "The rogues we have been keeping an eye on at our borders were acting strangely last night. Our scouts reported they were looking panicked and yelling out searching for someone." We have been keeping an eye on them as they are only about 10 miles away from our pack and we wanted to make sure they wouldn't be any trouble for us.

He sat back in his chair and continued "Son you're nearly 21 and soon you will be alpha." I looked at him and wondered what this had to do with the conversation we were having. "I want you to investigate this, you will be in charge of the warriors and make the decisions. As always i will be here if you need me but i want you and your beta Kenny to take point on this."

I was shocked but also very excited, "Thank you dad I will do my best". Leaving the room I linked Kenny 'meet me in the conference room we have a lot to do,' he replied immediately 'I'm on my way.' I made my way there stopping when people bowed their head slightly to me out of respect for their next alpha.

I didn't have to wait long before Kenny came rushing into the room. He was shorter than me but still reached 6" and had brown eyes and light brown hair that was short on the sides and longer up top, his hair was a little bit curly but he loved the way it always looked fashionably messy as he liked to put it.

"whats up buttercup?" he smiled at me, he has been saying that to me since we were five years old and he saw me playing in the field picking flowers for my mum, buttercups were her favourite. "Dad has finally given us of first tasks as alpha and beta," I said with a huge grin on my face.

"What? Are you serious? What are we doing?" he was loud and had too many questions and I explained the issue and told he we needed to get a team together and investigate.

"We should get Tommy to help he has been so down lately after he got rejected maybe it would help." Kenny looked sad.

Tommy was our best friend and my Gamma. But his mate had denied him and rejected him on the spot because he didn't want a male mate, Although more rare shifters do also have gay and lesbian mates but often they are rejected due to their denial.

Tommy was heart broken and it was really hard to keep him alive me and Kenny struggled not to get his wolf to give up. In the end it was his role as Gamma that kept him going, when I eventually meet my mate the gammas role is to protect the luna and he can do that without a mate. It has become his sole focus training so he can protect her. "Lets go get him and some of the warriors and go through the plan." I gestured towards the door.

Tommy was in the training hall like usual with a bunch of the packs warriors, they all knew he was struggling and helped him with his training and sparring whenever they were available. He was 5"11 and was muscular with dark brown hair and green eyes.

Waiting until the match was over not wanting to distract anyone I watched them fight. "He has gotten so much better" Kenny was shocked its been a while since he has seen him fight.

"Yeah, just hope I find my mate soon or the warriors are going to have a hard time" I smiled at him just as Tommy flipped him over onto his back winning the match.

"Tommy bring everyone over here we have a job to do," I called across the room and everyone made their way over. "Whats up Kai?" Tommy asked before taking a large gulp of his water.

"Hey shorty you grow any taller yet?" Kenny loved joking about his height.

"I'm one inch shorter than you!" He replied glaring at him.

"I'm not under 6" though am I shorty?" Kenny waited for the inevitable headlock Tommy would put him in, he only calls him that to get a reaction out of him.

While holding Kenny in a headlock he looked up at me, "so what's the job?" I grinned, "were investigating the rogues."
