23:57hrs, APRIL 12th 2026

Thunder rumbling and subtly shaking the long glass windows in the dimly lit jetway. The scene outside the window is blurred by the raindrops gently rolling down covered in shade of the night sky. The raindrops blurred the lights coming through the window into blobs of red and blue flashes and then allowing the frame to grow dark again. Through one end of the hallway hastily pounding the floor running comes a young man.

"The sound of his boots pounding against the floor echoed the empty hallway like drumbeats in a desperate symphony."

In the distance, he could hear the faint crackle of the airport assistant system as it came to life, announcing the final boarding call for the flight to Boston.

With every passing second his heart hammered louder in his chest with a frantic plea for more time while harsh fluorescent lights overhead blurred into a dizzying haze stirring his discomfort.

*Meanwhile at the departure gate, as the automated voice crackled over the airport intercom, announcing the final boarding call for the flight to Boston a sense of uncertainty stood across the hall.

A figure stood among the bustling travelers, clutching a boarding pass with trembling hands, gaze fixed on the chaotic scene unfolding before them.

She wore a black coat that hung loosely over her shoulders, the collar turned up against the chill of the moment. Her dark hair fell in unruly waves around her face, framing features that betrayed a mix of determination and doubt.

Suitcases rolled across her in a discordant of clattering wheels, blending with the murmur of voices and the distant hum of departing airplanes, right when the intercom plays- “The flight to Boston will depart in three minutes. All passengers please proceed to the gate immediately.”

The announcement echoed through the terminal once more, a chilling reminder of how fast the minutes was dwindling as the young man raced against time to stop her from slipping away.

Finally upon reaching the gate with burning lungs and gasping breath as he rounded corner and caught sight of the departure gate in the distance. There she was, standing at the threshold, her silhouette illuminated by the soft glow of the departure board overhead.

Even amidst the jammed queue of crowd, he didn't waste a second recognizing her.

“Allie!” he shouted, his voice hoarse with urgency as he closed the distance between them.

Lost in thought, she scarcely notices him emerging from the crowd, striding purposefully towards her. Her heart started pacing out of the blue as she perceived his voice.

As their eyes met across the bustling terminal, a glimmer of hope flickered to life within his heart.

For a moment, the world stood still, the chaos of the airport fading into the background while they stood locked in a silent embrace with no words to express what they were truly feeling in that instant.

Rose Hill Autumnvale

Tropical yet moist and windy breeze blowing through the sunny side of the foxtail grass hill stretching all the way across to the river, and laying down there on his back with flickering long hairs yet seemingly bland denims and a white shirt buttoned halfway through is Darcy Muffins.

Darcy, was the laid back yet ambitious child of the muffins residence who lived half a dozen mile across the coast of Kingsbury in the small tropical green island of Autumnvale.

Autumnvale had a breezy and tropical climate delivering a humble and soothing weather all year round. This was mainly due to the fact that Autumnvale was located amidst the Dune sea making it the most perfect spot for vegetation and sea life.

Being isolated completely from mainland Autumnvale retained its habitational beauty and the breathtaking landscape attracted attention from all across the area.

Darcy was born and brought up in Rose Hills primarily known for its largest cherry and rose estate stretching all the way over to the hills. Major population among the residents of the area included colonists and immigrants and a marginal amount of transient workers.

People did usual native chores and ran business errands for their living.

"Looks like its going to rain. I should probably head back home". Darcy wondered aloud and started strolling back to his house.

"I hope I probably make it this time, can't stick around the house longer." Collecting random thoughts together and taking the hike back down he finally entered his lawn when all of a sudden a sharp squeal struck his ears.

"Did you see the time? Where were you" Darcy's mother Strode down the porch.

"I was just on my way." Darcy made a subtle attempt at toning down the heat of the conversation which clearly didn't work.

"Will you ever stop being a child?" Mrs. muffins replied in a cold demeanor." I am tired of you Darcy, just come in and have food".

The cool breeze struck the trees around the house dangling in rhythmic pattern exposing a sense of uneasiness in the air.

"Sure." As he climbed up the porch his phone started ringing.

The shrill ring of his phone shattered the quiet of the night, sending a jolt of adrenaline through his veins. He glanced down at the screen with anticipation, as he recognized the caller’s number. Without hesitation, he answered, bringing the phone to his ear as he stepped back from the porch.

“Darcy, where do you think you’re going?” His mother’s voice cut through the night air, sharp and insistent.

He turned back, meeting her gaze with a mixture of determination and regret. “I’ll be back soon, Mom. There’s something I need to take care of.”
