Prologue
At the beginning of time, three ethereal creatures oversaw the world. Gaia; goddess of nature and all it rules, Soleil; goddess of the sun and eternal light, and Luna; goddess of the moon and its healing rays. They lived together, in love, and worked together to create the world and the creatures who live on it.
First came the animals of every species and type, then Gaia bore children she called humans, designed to live in harmony with the land. Luna bore children of her own, creatures she called werewolves who worshiped the moon and could shift from man to beast at will. Soleil created her own children from stardust and the power of the sun; dragons with the magic to nurture the land and shift into beautiful creatures who could take to the air.
For many years, harmony reigned. Humans mated with dragons and wolves, and fae children were born with magic of their own. But it wasn’t enough for the humans to have children with magic; they wanted the magic for themselves. The anger at their lack of magic festered and grew into rage. Wars broke out and the Earth descended into chaos. In the end the wolves retreated deep into the woods while the dragons fought until the bitter end.
Grief consumed Soleil as her children one by one died off. That grief turned into rage when Gaia and Luna refused to punish their own for starting the war and abandoning the dragons. Soleil became so enraged and twisted up in her sadness that she became something unrecognizable, feeding on the blood of her lovers’ children in retaliation, turning them into the same creatures she was becoming.
Soon she had many of them - creatures of the night who feasted on blood and pain. Gaia and Luna cast her out of the celestial plane permanently, stripping her of her name and exiling her to Earth. She was born again as Lilith, and with her coven of vampires she became Queen of the world.
