The English Teacher

Hope Daniels wanted and needed a change. Life in Chicago had become stagnant. She felt as though she wasn’t doing anything with purpose and with her love life being almost non-existent, she felt that she needed to make a drastic change to jumpstart SOMETHING in her life.

A coworker informed her about an opportunity to go and teach English abroad. She’s always wanted to go to South Korea as she was very interested in the Korean Culture and the people as well as the food. The only thing holding her back was that she didn’t speak the language and felt that maybe she should learn before going. Her friend, Tahari Robbins, calls Hope out on her shit and tells her to stop making excuses.

Knowing Tahari was right about her making excuses, Hope decides if she wants to change her life, this is the opportunity she needs otherwise things won’t change. She jumps in and finds herself living in an apartment given and paid for by the Academy she was hired on to teach English to elementary school children.

Life seemed to be turning around for the better as Hope was excited to experience South Korea and teach the children. Life also had a few surprises planned as Hope finds herself attracted to one of the teachers at the school.

Ahn In-Su started at the school 6 months prior, having transferred from another school. In-Su notices Hope the first day she starts at the Academy. She seems full of life and catches himself wanting to know more about her. He has had his share of bad breaks in the relationship department and wants something different. He wants to be able to enjoy life the same way Hope seems to be enjoying it.

Hope and In-Su meet and sparks fly. In-Su helps Hope get better acquainted with other teachers at the Academy and he helps her settle into her new surroundings. In-Su helps Hope learn her way around the City of Busan. In-Su is fascinated seeing Hope enjoy getting to know her way around town, meeting new people, finding new places and saturating herself in the Korean culture - it gives him a chance to see Busan through her eyes and he likes what he sees. He finds himself attracted to Hope and the feelings are mutual.

Everything seems perfect - a little too perfect.
