Chapter 1
Do you trust me, Soleil? " Lucas asked with the most solemn expression.
I nodded with hesitation but without trepidation. Trust seemed to overwhelm me for him but I wasn't to sure of his decision.
Lucas beckoned and asked me to look into the abyss before us.
I took a deep breath and walked boldly to stand before the pit.
Amidst the darkness that surrounded the room Lucas and I were in was a bright light at the end of the abyss giving out faint light.
"The solution to darkness is light" Lucas said, "let's go down, and bring out the light"
Lucas outstretched his arm with palm open out to me.
I sized him up briefly and placed my hand on his. I had to trust him in order to leave the loneliness of the dark. The thought of myself in that room for one more minute mortified me.
Lucas held my hand in a tight grip as I expected that both of us would walk into the abyss together but all I thought of were false.
He pushed me forward and his grip on my hand loosened. I felt myself falling into the pit but never landed. A fall that felt everlasting.
Although while I fell I expected to see the light but all that filled my eyes was darkness darker than the room I was before. I kept falling into darkness until I jolted up from the bed with a loud gasp.
I looked around and was back into my room.
Seeing the familiar arrangement made me realize that all from before was a dream, no a nightmare. Nightmares I wouldn't stop having since I left the Leigh mansion. I always dreamt of falling more and more into darkness. I was terrified but seemed used to it.
I rolled out of my bed and headed straight to the bathroom sink then rinsed off the beads of sweat on my face. I looked into the mirror, my reflection stared back with the perplexed look on my face.
I wondered why these sort of dreams wouldn't let me be ever since I was young.
Letting out a sigh and a pout on my lips, i shuffled to the bathroom, had a warm bath and entered my room.
Sitting silently before my dressing mirror, I wrenched out remains of water from my hair but suddenly something caught the corner of my eye through the mirror.
I looked behind me immediately but nothing was there.
With a frightened and cautious look on my face, I slowly turned my head back to the mirror and dried my hair, still disturbed about what I saw.
I couldn't stop wondering, although I asked myself to forget about it all it just wouldn't adhere ever since the atmosphere became heavy and I began to feel eerie feels.
I got up and changed into a comfy outfit to start up my day. Got my bag and all necessities in it and was about to step out of my room but halted immediately when I heard a thuding sound in my bathroom.
I quickly went to check. I paced passed my bathroom mirror but halted after something caught the corner of my eye from the mirror.
I had to be sure that it was my reflection and nothing else. I therefore walked backwards till I reach the mirror, stopped and turned around slowly.
My eyes landed on the mirror and I almost screamed but I put my hands over it as my bag reached the floor.
It was certainly a figure on the mirror but not human.
It looked like a figure made of dark misty smoke with eyes which were balls of green fire.
The creature was like a reflection, my reflection. I realized when I saw it's hand over it's mouth also.
My eyes seemed to widen even more as I became curious to find out whatever was happening.
I took my hand down, it did the same.
I brought it back up and waved slightly, it did the same but also did something different.
It smiled revealing it's long fangs and pointed at its hand.
My eyes narrowed as I tried to figure out what it meant.
It repeated it's action and pointed at me.
I then figured out what it tried to say.
I slowly turned my head not wanting to take my eyes off the creature but i had too. I looked at my hand which was still up after the little wave i gave the creature.
My eye couldn't get any wider than the large circles it formed after I saw the state of my fingers.
They were turning black as though they were painted. But I never touched or used paint since I got up from bed or even the night before.
I raised my second hand and looked at my finger but for some reasons they weren't as dark as my right hand, although they seemed to turn at their own pace. Faint shade of black at the tip of my fingers.
Immediately i turned on the tap began to scrub my hands against each other beneath the pouring water but nothing came off.
Even with the use of soaps and sponges, all ended in vain. The stain seemed to be part of my skin.
I looked back into the mirror. The creature was still there, smiling at me from ear to ear. I didn't understand why but it certainly was the cause of all this. I hated it for it. A strange feeling of abhor filled me for that creature.
I aicked up a small steel vase of a little plant I kept by the window frame and was about to throw it at the mirror when I heard a voice say...
"_you won't rid me off so easily, light_"
I looked around but saw no one else but the creature and i. The mouth of the creature wasn't moving either. Could it be that it's inside my head, speaking in my mind?
The creature nodded as though it heard my thoughts. Well it actually did.
"_i am taking over, so don't fight it"_
It's last sentence got to my nerves, making me throw the vase at the mirror. The mirror turned into shards and I watched the creature disappear.
I suddenly felt my breath seizing up. I felt nauseous and the room spun around me.
I tried to keep my eyes open but the world bent as the last thing I felt was the coolness of my bathroom floor.
