     ~Anna pov~

As I trudged through the dense forest, the darkness seemed to swallow me whole, every rustle and creak setting my nerves on edge. A distant howl sent shivers down my spine, urging me to turn back, determined to get the last ingredients for the special herb medicine, anxiously clutching the last few ginkgo leaves tightly in my hand.

Their green pigment stained my palm as if marking the passage through this eerie wilderness.

With each step along the narrow path, a sense of being watched crept over me, sweat prickling my skin and hands turning clammy.

Stooping to pick up an old piece of tree bark, I froze, my shaky hands slowly turning my head to confront whatever lurked in the shadows.

"Who's there?" I called out, my voice barely above a whisper, my heart pounding in my chest.

Silence hung heavy in the air for a moment before a deep, guttural growl echoed through the trees.

My breath caught in my throat as I tightened my grip on the makeshift weapon.

Suddenly, a massive, ominous silhouette emerged from the darkness, its eyes gleaming with a menacing light.

Fear gripped me as I struggled to maintain composure.

"Stay back!" I warned, voice trembling as I pointed the stick in its direction.

The creature halted, its hot breath mingling with mine, before vanishing into the underbrush, leaving behind only its imposing paw print—a haunting reminder of its

Gasping awake I wrung myself upward, drenched in a cold sweat the events of the night felt surreal, the pain in my ankle and leg long gone just like the encounter I had with the beast. “Just a dream,” I said pushing back my puffy hair from my face.

Despite the undeniable terror, I couldn't shake the strange beauty in the creature's eyes, a mesmerizing shade of dark green swirled around in the center of those black orbs that seemed to hold secrets of the enchanting forest.

“What's wrong with me?!” pressing the pillow into my face.

Even if it was a dream instead of thinking about dying I'm thinking about how beautiful the creature's eyes are.

“Yep, I'm insane”.

Collecting myself for the day ahead I still can't shake my mind from that strange dream it felt so real, that I mindlessly ventured into my cozy kitchen, finding solace in a simple breakfast of week-old sourdough bread and freshly made jam.

With toasted bread stuffed in my mouth, I rummage through the bottom drawer for my fish food to feed my koi fish, Chloe.

My thoughts drifted to Adam. I wonder if his unit be in town today? After the war soldiers were stationed in every city to protect us from the ongoing attacks of the wolves even though the war had been over for more than 8 years there had been some attacks every so often.

And Adam our bizarre romance had blossomed over the past three months, sparked by the flickering flames of gossip and suspicion that branded me a witch.

Despite the superstitions that plagued our town, Adam still decided to pursue me. Until I finally gave in to his nagging he wasn't a bad guy it was just I never thought about getting into a romantic relationship.

I never got why any guy would be interested in me, my clothes are rags and always dirty I don't have the body shape that guys dream of, nor the features.

That is why I try to not draw too much attention to myself.

But recently, his advances had taken a turn, veering into territory that left me unsettled.

His eagerness for physical intimacy clashed with my hesitations, rooted in a reluctance to rush into a deeper connection I just wasn't ready for.

I slipped into my dusty boots.

Leaving the warmth of my kitchen behind, I ventured into town, The cobblestone streets, once lively with magic and technology, now lay in ruins, overshadowed by desperation.

People fought fiercely for survival, battling against each other for the bare necessities. Thats was just the cold harsh reality now .

With each step, I braced myself for the encounters that awaited, uncertain of what the day would bring.

So what do you guys think? how do you all like it so far, even though it's just the first chapter any input? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section.
