Poem

In the mist beyond

A wonder within

A reason to live

A lost soul

A journey for purpose

He looks past the here and now to see what all could be

Take that brave step, jump off the cliff, and see what’s down below

He can’t see past the sun-tipped fog but can imagine what secrets it holds

It whispers out to him

So faint and subtle

So beautiful and luring

His foot inches forward

Desperation tugging at his sleeve

His curiosity, his intrigue, an invisible rope, pulling him to the unknown

What lies beyond the mist? He must know

A few more steps and there he goes, off the cliff

The misty blue fog, so thick he can feel it

He lost grip of his staff, his eyes squeezed shut, and screams of terror echo around him

He barrels towards the ground

Where does this lead? What will become of me? This was a horrible idea.

Falling… plummeting

Is this what dreaming is like? They always said curiosity killed the cat.

He pries one eye open, just a peek, the harsh air pushing at his eye

Water?

The glistening blue waves look almost peaceful

They near in view

Rising and falling, crashing, the rhythm of nature

What a sight to see.

Then everything goes black.
