Good Premise, Great Writing, Unlimited Potential

"I really liked the premise of the story. I see a lot of popotential in this author and will be reading more of his work in the near future simply based on this short story. His detail and descriptions really painted a vivid picture of events for me, which kept my interest levels peaked throughout. I also enjoyed all the filler, off-shoot, funny and familiar details that allowed me to feel connected and comfortable with the main characters. This held my interest to the very end, but when I got there found it to be a little anti-climatic. I would have given this 5 out of 5 had it not been for the anti-climatic ending and some minor logic errors. The first was that he was purchasing scrolls for his entire family but only mentions his daughter at first. The second is that the whisky glitch scroll wasn't for sale, but he ends up being able to buy it anyway. I understand that this was a ploy to distract him from the real problem, but the reader could have used some supporting dialog to explain that for us a bit more. I could see the author expanding this into a much more rebust novel if he so chose to. Each scroll door having their own chaptered adventure, or even expanding it to include what happens when he brings them back home to his family, or what's happening back at the store with the glitched scroll. There's some more gold to be mined here, and that's something I would really enjoy reading and learning more about. This author has a gift of bringing his environments and characters to life using his words combined with our imagination and I'm looking forward to reading more of his work. "
