Note from the author

Zeus was in love with the Nymph Metis, but he was told that they would have a son who would one day dethrone him. So when Metis was pregnant with their child, Zeus decided to swallow her to stop the prophecy from coming true. But following on from this his head was split open from within and out stepped the goddess Athena dressed in fall amour.

Now that was a story, and though out history there have always been stories, they have not always been a way to escape our world and in fact hold a grater link to our past and our history. Now when ever something is brought up in this way, it’s often put on a pedestal because it’s the focus, but first let me make my claims and show you why stories are in deed as great as I say they are.

Stories have been around for as long as we’ve been able to communicate, and they are not always on the big screen or in books such as these. Stories can be a couple talking about their day, or school friends saying what they got up to over the weekend. Stories aren’t just an escape but a basic understanding off conveying information, such as the news. Which is often told to us either though words on a page or by people on a screen, but it’s done though a story. The narrative of the world that is unfolding around us is told to us though a narrative lens, no matter who it’s told to it’s still telling a story.

Some my claim stories are made up, they’re not real, but history is a story. Fiction or Non-fiction the world and it’s history has been told to us though stories. When people dig up the past, it’s their job to figure out what happened, and it’s always told to us as a story. The fall of Rome and great wars of history are told as stories and it’s not just our history that is told though stories but also religion. Be it the story of Jesus or of Zeus, these are all stories told with a narrative purpose, real or not isn’t the question.

But it’s this simple method of telling someone that how I met your mother, or how I came to be who I am know as today, is a story and is a narrative thread. And these can be told in more ways then one. I’ve already spoken about words in a book or people on a screen but a story transcends in to all art forms.

Before many us are able to read, images where key and even these can tell us a story with out the need for words. As they say a image can hold a thousand words, and many a story is told with what you see rather then what you hear or read. Sound is the other key sense that a story can be told from, as music has the ability to tell it’s own story given the chance, and I don’t mean though it’s lyrics. (Even though that counts.) I mean the cords stuck and the notes played can tell a story just as much as words on a page, or on a screen.

And though out history stories have been how we communicated, from cave paintings on walls, to stories around the camp fire, to the musical masterpieces and the writing in literature, a story has always been at the heart of it all. And so with many stories talking about the great feats of history and the rises of power, to the lives of those living in fear. They reach all acts of the life and help tell us what was here before us, and when this world fades way to dust, those left behind will tell stories of what the world was like before.

So with all these great stories about the world, there is so much more to those stories we looses our selves in. With sorrow and heart brake, with love and victory, hardships and horrors, great far off lands and outlandish plots. Each in world of their very own, so what will this story be and shall it be so different to any others that have come before it, so I say this. What will this story be, what will her story be?
