Foreword
Dear Reader,
Before you start reading this story, I want to warn you to set aside all prejudices and stereotypes about the Mafia. I have not romanticised the lives of killers. This is a story about pain, strength of spirit, a woman among men, the complexity of loneliness and loss, the effects of psychological trauma and illness. It is an ode to suffering and a path filled with nothing but darkness, it is an endless struggle. Metanoia is about rethinking one’s own life, it is about reflection, it is about remorse and regret.
Each of the characters is a person with his or her own story and personality, each of them has feelings, fears, resentments and worries; they have loved ones who are not always there for them. They each have their own problems, their own past. Don’t be too hard on the characters - try to understand them.
This story took me three years to write. Metanoia has experienced with me many events in my life, has been seriously and superficially edited several times, transformed. Read the story, enjoy it, laugh, admire, analyse, nag, judge, argue - experience the whole range of emotions together with the characters.
