Summary

Delphine Waldorf was not expecting to be welcomed by the maids and ushered into her chambers the moment she got to chaibo, she wasn't even allowed rest before the maids came in to prepare her for the marriage banquet that would be taking place later that evening. She got to chaibo in the mid afternoon and was now being scrubbed up and down, she was to get married to a man that hadn't even taken time out of his busy schedule to say to greet the woman he was getting married to. "Your highness, which would you prefer." She looked at the dresses being showed to her by the maids that was sprawled across her bed, she sighed inwardly. "The champagne colour dress." She sighed. They quickly ushered her to the dressing table in her chambers sitting her infront of the mirror they began all kinds of facial treatment. She groaned in pain anytime they plucked out her eyebrows but all they did was apologize and do it again. ******* It was almost when the banquet was about to start that Delphine finally got to see her husband to be. He was good looking she wouldn't deny, with his dark curly hair brown eyes, we'll sculptured face and his height although it would make Delphine look small beside him. He was a piece of art. Her smile widened further at her thoughts. "My lord." She greeted and bowed her head slightly that if he had not been watching her keenly he would not have noticed.

Chapter 1: DELPHINE WALDORF

The room became more tensed as Delphine walked into the room.

"You sent for me." Her eyes roamed everywhere, a little bit surprised to find everyone here including her eldest brother. She new when she over heard that the kingdom of chaibo had sent a message something big was happening.

"Yes, I did." Her father answered. He gestured for her to sit and she did.

"The king has sent a marriage proposal and_"

"I accept." She interrupted her father.

"It's from the king to marry him." Her twin brother said, she looked at his worried expression.

"Do you not want me to leave anymore, I thought I was anyoing." She chuckled. She tried to make the air lighter.

"Stop it." Her elder brother said, his frown deepened. She looked at her mother the queen, a woman of regality had tears rolling down her face she almost looked traumatized at the thought of her only daughter leaving.

"Mother, I am not dead." Her father passed his handkerchief to his wife.

"Father hasn't even sent the letter of acceptance." She groaned leaning on her brother shoulders.

"Okay, tell me about him. I might just refuse the proposal." She sighed.

"He's 27 and he took over the kingdom 2 years ago after his father died." Her father looked at her before continuing to see if she was beginning to change her mind.6

"His name is Tyren."

"That is all." She was shocked.

"Does he not have any hobbies." she shrieked.

"He lives like an ocean away from our kingdom." Her elder brother countered.

"We can't get enough information." Her Father saighed.v-g

"The more reason you should not marry him." Her twin brother quickly added.

"I want to get married father, I do not want to accept the dukes proposal but as it is he's the only man in our kingdom with the wealth and power that I can manage."

"Then marry him." Her mother yelled.

"It's propestrous, from a princess to a duchess. I'll rather be a queen." Her tone was light but her expression dark.

"I'll marry him father, as long as I get to be a queen."

"He's a demon." Her brother gritted out.

"You call all my suitors demons." She deadpanned.

"You don't understand, he's like the devil incarnates I bv. Let's lie."

"He must had known I wasn't married or betrothed." The room became quiet at the thoughts of spies in the castle.

"I'll do a full sweep of the workers." Her brothers stood up and left.

"Don't forget to send my acceptance letter." She followed.

"I can see that you're done packing." Delphine turned around to meet her Bossom friend, Edith.

"I didn't know you where coming." She was surprised.

"You were going to leave without saying goodbye." It wasn't a to question, it was a statement.

"Of cause, not." Delphine was taken aback.

"You're done packing." She yelled.

"I am leaving for chaibo the day after tomorrow." She said calmly.

"Why?" Delphine gave her an expression that showed she didn't understand.

"Why won't you marry the Duke and end this madness of yours."

"I would do no such thing."

"Why?" She shouted, "he is wealthy, is he not? He is Handsome smells of regality and power. Is that not what you want?" Edith was practically screaming, Delphine looked at her with concentration wondering why she was acting out of character.

" I do not love him." Delphine sighed and proceeded to sit on the bed.

"You cannot marry him, you do not live him." she shouted

"I do love him." Delphine responded calmly.

"you claim you love him because he is rich." she was shocked in disbelief.

"as long as there is love. right?" She whispered, she said that part to herself but Edith heard it.

Edith scoffed.

"What is your problem." Delphine was angry now, she was sick and tired of everyone telling her what to do.

"Do you not want me to be happy.?" Edith tried to say something but Delphine didn't give her a chance.

"You're married to the count because you wanted him, why can't I have what I want." She rested her elbow on her knees and spread out her fingers and covered her face.

"Does he want you?" Edith asked quietly.

"He sent a marriage proposal first Edith."

"He wants a queen not you." She sat beside Delphine and sighed.

"I'll miss you." She hugged Delphine knowing she had already made up her mind, Delphine wrapped her hand tightly around her.

"You'll be a great Queen." Edith whispered.

"If does anything to you I'll kill him." Delphine giggled.

"I'll kill him first."

Edith stared at her and sighed wondering if she knew or she chose to ignore.

"Do you not know?" Edith asked quickly.

"Know about what?"

"I should have guessed, your ignorance would lead you to your grave."

"The only thing that could lead me to my grave is old age." She rolled her eyes.

"This king of yours, have you not heard?" She looked at Delphine dumbfounded.

"Heard what?" Although Delphine responded like she was indeed curiosity, the air aroused her was nonchalant.

"He's a tyrant." Delphine turned to look at her and her expression said it all but Edith still wanted to hear her response, Delphine sighed before responding to her.

"I have never heard of a king that have not been called a tyrant by others."

"Rumors says he kills for the littlest mistake, he is ruthless and souless. He is disrespectful, be it man or woman. HE. DOES. NOT. CARE." Edith emphasized, she knew how Delphine hated men who looked down on women or women who was dependent on men.

"Rumor says." Edith was shocked to the core, she was still trying to comprehend how Delphine ignored the part where she said he treated women with disrespect.

"Right now you're not different from those women who lean on men." Delphine turned her head so fast someone from afar would think I would snap.

"I beg your pardon? You of all people should know what to say to me. Is Marrying the Duke not same with marrying the king? Is it not the same riches? Or are you saying I should run away, pack my things, dismiss my maids and flee after night falls and I'll just find my haapy ever after. I would die before I scale the walls of this imperial palace because a guard would shoot and arrow through my back thinking I was an assassin." She glared at Edith.

"That's not what am saying." Edith muttered under her breath but Delphine still heard it.

"Then you're probably saying I'll survive then work for a merchant or find and old man who would let me plough his farms because he took pity on me. Just be cause you ended up with someone you love or so you claim that's love but still have to bow first, doesn't mean I'll be lucky. I probably be raped to death." Edith gasped and held he hand against her chest before hitting her arm for saying such a kind of thing.

"Are you crazy?" Edith chided more.

"All I was trying to tell you was that the king could kill you? Even his name Tyren can easily be respelt as Tyrant."

"It would cause a war." She simply said.

"He would plummet our kingdom to dust." Edith whispered yelled.

"If he could, he would have done so since and made us pay tribute till this kingdom wallow in poverty, like the rest of the 4 kingdoms across the 7 southern walls."

"Your father must thank his ancestors everyday for marrying your mother and forming that alliance years ago or we would have been slaves today."

"That I can not imagine." The look of horror on her face made Delphine smile.

"That doesn't mean he won't win." She quickly counterd an attack.

"It would be a pvyric victory."

"That he would still win."

"Other kingdoms would take an opportunity to finish it."

"At the cost of ours." Delphine frowned at that but it was too late to change her mind.
