Chapter 1
First day of seventh grade. You got this.
I nervously put my backpack on and walked out the front door of my house into the cold morning outside.
This is what I get for going to a choice school. Thirty extra minutes of being awake, and ending up having to be driven to school… Meh, I don’t really like the bus anyway—
“Uh, Autumn? You’re gonna be late. Stop daydreaming or whatever and get in the car.” Dad. He always brought me and picked me up from school, no one else. And always got irritated when I took too long to get out of the house and into the car.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m coming,” I said, closing the front door behind me and walking to the car.
I got into the car, took out my phone, and started texting my friends.
Me: HEY EVERYONE!
Scarlet: how r u so excited, its literally the 1st day of school again, also y all caps
Brooke: Well I’M definitely excited! Did you girls hear about the new student?
Scarlet: new WHAT now
Me: oh yeah! isn’t her name like, Nevaeh or something?
Brooke: Yeah, that’s what I heard!
Scarlet: how is this the 1st im hearing of any new student
Me: you don’t listen to rumors or gossip remember?
Scarlet: o yea right
Brooke: Okay new topic: we all need to date someone this year
Scarlet: brooke, ur very aware im ace
Brooke: But you’re not aro
Scarlet: true, but STILL
Me: does “we” include me?
Brooke: Yes. And if you’re lucky, maybe “the one” is the new student!
Me: ain’t no way.
Brooke: You never know.
Me: ugh, FINE. meet up in the pod as soon as we get there and stuff is away, okay?
Brooke: Yup!
Scarlet: k, ttyl
Brooke: See you soon!
Me: bye girls!
