Chapter 1
“Anna, wake your ass up,” I faintly hear Daniella’s voice as I slowly open my eyes.
Ah the life of being a married woman... Joking, we didn’t get married, yet.
“Sup?” I ask with a hoarse voice from sleeping through almost the whole car trip.
“Don’t sup me, get up, you look like a dead frog,” she says raising one eyebrow at me. “How on earth can someone sleep on a seat like that?”
“Are we there yet?” I ask sitting up properly on the passenger seat. “Where’s Soph and Jenjen? And this is years of experience from sleeping in most of my classes, including yours.”
“No, we’re just stopping to eat, they’re already inside the cafe waiting for your lazy ass,” she chuckles trying to push me off the car.
“Five more minutes,” I groan.
“No,” she says simply and I reluctantly stand up, my simpness taking over my laziness.
We’ve been travelling all morning and I must have fallen asleep at some point, Jen and Soph probably did too, Daniella is the driver so she definitely didn’t get any sleep, poor her.
Actually... let her suffer for not letting me drive.
I was so excited to spend the weekend at San Diego with Daniella that I barely had any sleep at night, mainly because Daniella and I barely have had any time together recently. Yes, I’m out of school now but the teacher’s still had work to do.
And more importantly, it doesn’t really matter if I’m not her student anymore, the reality is that if someone from the school sees us together, it won’t take them very long to put two and two together and realise we didn’t just, coincidently, start dating after I left school. Daniella is still risking getting fired.
So we’ve been maintaining a very low profile, she’d meet me mostly at my house or we’d take walks at the park at night with Slippers.
It’s been a month since I graduated now and Daniella is finally on vacation so we planned this little trip with Soph and Jen... I actually planned the trip only for Daniella and I but those two butted in for the free ride.
“Can’t wait to get there already, not so much for the beach but definitely for the hotel’s jacuzzi,” I wiggle my eyebrows as we walk up to the cafe.
“We’re just one hour away,” she says holding the door for me. “And how can you think of the jacuzzi? Anna, it’s summer, you’ll go by yourself*.*”
“So? It’s romantic,” I smirk.
She simply rolls her eyes but still takes my hand in hers as we approach Soph and Jen, Daniella definitely still held some kind of grudge against Jenny but she kept it mainly to herself.
As of Soph...
“Oh, there they are,” She says grinning in our direction. “When I told you to wake up the princess with a kiss I really meant only with a kiss.”
... They’re getting along fine.
“Kiss? I didn’t even get a kiss,” I pout.
“The princess was still in frog form, not my kind of fairy tale,” she says amusedly as Soph snorts loudly. Yeah, they really do get along just fine.
“If you don’t kiss the frog you don’t get the princess,” I fold my arms. “But it’s fine, if the princess charming won’t, someone else definitely will.”
At that she raises one of her eyebrows.
“It only works with the princess charming though,” Jen butts in.
“Then I guess I’ll be a frog forever,” I sigh dramatically making Daniella roll her eyes.
We quickly ate our food, it’s noon already and Soph still wanted to go to the beach once we arrive at our destination. We’re just going to spend the weekend there. Today is Friday and we’ll be leaving on Sunday noon.
“I’ll pay, you can go on ahead,” Daniella says as she holds my hand, silently telling me to stay back with her.
“Ohh, she’s generous,” Soph teases taking Jen’s arm and dragging her out of the cafe, her expression told me she knew Daniella was up to something.
“Look at you being all kind to my friends,” I smirk squeezing her hand in mine.
“Is that a problem?” She teases back.
“No, but don’t do that too often or you’ll get a second girlfriend called Soph.”
“Oh?” She smirks but I’m quick to pinch her arm.
“Idiot,” I murmur as she untangles her hand from mine to hand out the money to the woman at the counter. I playfully slap her hand away as she tries to grab it again. “No, you’re mean.”
Instead, she wraps her arm around my waist and leads me out to the parking lot. “I’m fine with just one annoying girlfriend,” she chuckles holding me closer. “I mean... frog.” I groan trying to push her away but she quickly grabs my waist with both of her hands and pulls me into a deep kiss. When she pulls away she holds my face with one hand, gently turning it slightly sideways as if admiring it. “Still definitely a frog but I’m okay with that.”
“Doesn’t that mean you’re not my princess charming?” I squint my eyes at her knowing she would immediately stop teasing me with the frog thing.
“Definitely not your princess charming, you landed with the witch,” she smirks giving me another quick kiss on the lips.
“The frog and the witch,” I chuckle taking her hand and pulling her to where her car is parked. “I’m fine with that too.”
“Oh my G-d, finally!” Soph says stretching as we walked up to the hotel we would be staying in. “And just in time to watch the sunset at the beach, how romantic!” She wiggled her eyebrows at me.
“Yeah, you and Jen will love to watch it together,” I smirk watching Jen’s cheeks go furiously red as Soph jokingly wiggled her eyebrows at her too.
After we checked in we went immediately to our rooms to change into something nicer. Daniella and I would obviously be sharing a room, Soph and Jen shared a room as well and I must confess, I was a little shocked and disappointed, to see there were two separate twin beds in their room.
I started it as a joke but now I’m seriously shipping.
Daniella and I’s room was in a whole different floor than theirs, it was way up and looked visibly nicer. “So fancy,” I say laying down on the king-sized bed. “And the view is so nice too!”
“You like it?” She asks sitting down beside me on the bed.
“Yeah, but you didn’t have to get such a nice room, I’d be fine with anything as long as I’m with you,” I say pulling her down so she’s laying beside me.
“Anna, we have to change clothes,” she says as I pull her closer to me.
“But I want to kiss you,” I whisper into her lips, I could feel her face go a few shades darker but she quickly hides it by pulling me into a kiss.
Slow and passionate, yet very innocent.
This is the first time we’ll be sleeping for a whole night together and I confess I’m freaking out. We did nap together before, but Daniella didn’t feel comfortable sleeping over at my house because of my dad so I never insisted. Also, I can tell she’s a little hesitant with the whole, you know, sexy hanky-panky wink-wink.
We’re taking things very slow and I’m completely fine with it, she has risked so much for me, the least I could do is wait and respect her time.
“Your friends are waiting for us,” Daniella sighs into the kiss.
“Oh no,” I joke trying to keep her on the bed but she wins this time.
“Get dressed,” she says amusedly pushing me out of the bed.
After we were dressed in less comfortable but nicer clothes we meet Soph and Jen at the hotel’s entrance, we would be going to the beach to watch the sunset and then get something to eat.
Daniella and I walked hand in hand to the beach, something we couldn’t do back home the very few times we went out so I’m enjoying every second of it.
“This is nice,” I say sitting on the sand and looking up at the horizon and then at Daniella that sat down beside me.
“Yeah,” she says simply snaking her arm around my waist and pulling me closer to her, her eyes were glued on the horizon and all I can see at this point is her silhouette.
Soph and Jenny sat a few meters away from us to give us some kind of privacy, but I could still hear Soph snickering and Jen telling her to shut up.
I can’t help letting out a small chuckle, Daniella looks at me confused but I just rest my head on her chest finally taking my eyes off her and looking back at the beautiful view in front of us.
We’ve been together for a month now but just now it finally sunk in... We are really here, together.
