Chapter 1: ᴛʜᴇ ꜰᴏʀɢᴏᴛᴛᴇɴ ʀᴇᴀꜱᴏɴ (ᴶᵒˢʰ ᴾⁱᵉʳᶜᵉ)

Shit. I didn't want this. I didn't ask for this. I spit out some blood and licked my lips, "Bloody Hell" I thought. It was already too late, the kid fainted. I looked at the bruises on my fist, finally relaxing the hand I punched him with. He was a good kid, I'm a good kid. We both didn't deserve this. No. What have I done? What did I do?

I got sent to the principal office later that evening, I didn't mean to. Kid pissed me off for some reason. "Why did you guys fight?" Mr. Miller, the principal, asked me.

Yeah. I'm wondering that too, why did I do it? I don't remember.

I shrugged. Once I hadn't answered, he repeated the question. "Why did you hit Thomas?", in a more stern, annoyed voice he had on.

Thomas. That was his name? I only remember being as pissed as a bull. I don't remember exactly what; besides beating the poor boy. Nobody stopped me, when I think back, only a few kids witnessed me and Thomas. A teacher too. My favorite teacher. Mrs. Ruth. Maybe she was the one who got the principal involved.

"I don't know", I barely muttered after letting out a sigh. "I honestly don't know." Mr. Miller groaned.

"You're gonna get in lots of trouble for this, Josh."

Of course. What did I expect? He won't believe me. After all, he is an adult. I told him the truth, what more could he ask for? I nodded my head, not in agreement but accepting my 'punishment'. Maybe Thomas said something I didn't like? Or perhaps he even started it, I don't know. All I know is that I was mad. And I barely remember since I practically blacked out.

I guess I'll have detention, then. What am I gonna do? I didn't feel sympathetic when I punched the boy, or as far as I can remember. I glanced at Thomas, he had his arms crossed, leg shaking and intensely staring at the floor, spacing out.

"Thomas", Mr. Miller said.

I looked at Thomas thoroughly.

"What?", he muttered before he peeked over at me, we made slight eye contact before I quickly looked away.

"What happened?" Mr.Miller asked him next.

I wanted to get information so I eavesdropped as I sat there.. Thomas slowed down his leg shaking, and cleared his throat,

" I don't know. I passed out, I think that's why I can't remember." which was understandable, but I don't think we both remembered what happened.

After school, me and Thomas were both in detention. We practically got to do anything but have no devices or electronics.

I started doodling on a blank piece of paper as Thomas whipped out his electric guitar, and began playing a few recognizable notes.

I blinked, relaxing my face,

"You're pretty good at that, huh?" I raised my chin to fully look at him with a slight smile on my face. Thomas looked up at me, smirked, before putting his head down to concentrate on his guitar. He's pretty good at the guitar, it was the only music that filled the silence. Especially without any book most kids have, he's got good muscle memory.

"I'm sorry. I dont remember anything about the fight." I said quietly, and that seemed to catch his attention because he immediately looked back up and made eye contact with me. "I don't remember either.", he shook his head side to side, his face had a thoughtful expression on it, indicating that he had no clue. I then smiled to reassure the mood, but before I could say anything further, my big sister, Katie came running into the room.

"Josh! My baby brother, are you okay?", she then placed her hands on my shoulders, checking to see if I got injured. She worriedly took out a napkin from her pocket and wiped my nose from bleeding, I didn't notice that. I rarely feel my nose bleeding, when it does. My big sister is practically my guardian, as our parents died at an early age, so she tries her best to give me a good life.

"Sheesh, you're glad this is your first time getting in trouble.", she ruffled up my hair. The principal walked into the doorway, making eye contact with my big sister before nodding once, meaning that I'm free to go. I looked back at Thomas, he was doing something to his guitar and had his attention off me.

I hesitated to say anything to him, so I just continued to look at him. Took him a few seconds until he looked up into my eyes, before we both grinned at each other. I got up from my seat and began following my sister, Katie out.

Guiding me through the empty hallway, she asked,

"So, what 𝘥𝘪𝘥 happen?"

I looked around, my eyes wandering from each classroom we passed before I responded.

"I dont know."
