Chapter 1
"Recently, I read somewhere an 8-month-old girl got rapped by a 40-year-old man. My body started shivering, my blood started boiling but all I could do was comment 'OM Shanti' Or maybe start a candle March, right?", said Akansha on the mic standing in front of the whole school giving a speech on Women's Day. "Women's Day is being celebrated since 1975 and it's maybe the 41st Women's Day across the world and yup, one day we get the whole attention for living in fear for the rest of the year. The fear of getting assaulted by bigger, stronger men. The fear of getting beaten by your affectionate person." Akansha took a pause and asked, "How many of you have someday at some point felt uncomfortable or had been afraid of getting your Vagina poked by someone forcefully? But our school is safe and good for girl, right Shreyansh Sir??" She continued with her speech when the mic turned off and she was asked to come down from the stage by the Principal, Mrs Nikiti Singh. And of course the next day she received a letter of suspension for a week. She was stopped from entering the school just for talking about such a topic in front of everyone.
Now if you ask me it takes a lot of courage to speak up about a topic like Rape in front of the whole school so fluently but Akansha was different.
Akansha Sheikh was a fearless girl born in 1999 in a Muslim rich family. She had the liberty to have anything and everything she wanted but her only wish was to become an independent girl and work for the betterment of society. She although never liked the concept of 𝙀𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 and rather supported 𝙀𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙩𝙮. She knew that girls could never compete with boys in each and every aspect but at the same time, she had a wish to make a society with equal opportunity and respect for both genders.
Hii!! myself, Raghav Massy and this story is about a very crucial and important person in my life, my best friend, my girlfriend, my dreamwife, Akansha. No no, I am not married in fact I am single, and Akansha is just my best friend. I wish I could have her in my life as my wife, Sorry for this lame line. Anyways let's move on to the story. I know moving on is tough but still, let's try to move on to the story.
So, it was a beautiful evening, the sky was pink, the clouds were dusky, and the winds were blowing soft when I saw Akansha for the first time, wearing 𝘈 𝘣𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘮𝘴𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘱e𝘥𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘪𝘤𝘺𝘤𝘭𝘦. Sounds so dreamy right? Yes, it's all just my dream.
I met Akansha in class when she wasn't as beautiful, classy, cute, and adorable as she is now. When I saw her first time in class 8 when I gave her my hanky because her nose was running and the extraordinary 𝘗𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪 𝘨𝘩𝘦𝘦 was coming out from her nose. She was a new student in our class.
"Can't you bring your own Hanky?" I asked her
"I am allergic to animals, my nose starts running whenever a Donkey comes near me?", said Akansha sarcastically.
𝘏𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘩𝘢, a shrinking sound of laughter came from my back. It was Navin, my so-called best friend with her girlfriend Sakshi.
It has been more than 10 years of me knowing Akansha. And it's been more than 5 years of her death.
It's March 2024, and the last time I saw her alive was on 11 July 2018 her face swollen fighting for her life in the ICU of St. John's Hospital of Varanasi.
