The Traitors Return
"Here we are," Mune steps out into the evening breeze, thanking the cab driver before pulling his sister, Mek, out of the car.
Mek eyes the run-down factory, "It's been so long, old friend."
"It has been, sister, about 5 years," Mune waves the cab off.
Mek reaches out, "Shall we go in, 'Your highness'?"
"After you, m'lady," Mune takes a fake bow.
Mek snickers, "You're such a doofus."
"Isn't that why you love me though?" Mune jogs to catch up to his sister as she walks towards the entrance.
Mune tries the front door, surprisingly unlocked. Mune and Mek look at each other, before Mek takes the first step in to their old workplace.
Mune jumps slightly as the door closes behind them, a distant click being heard. Mune turns around and tries the door, which it begrudgingly does not open. Mune turns back to Mek, who is looking over a couple of scattered toys.
"Mekensi," Mune clears his throat as a lump forms, "We're locked in."
Mek looks up at him, "We can't be.. It was just unlocked."
Mek tries the door, pulling, pushing, even getting Mune to help her. She falls back against the wall.
"Looks like we're every other horror protagonist," Mek lets her head fall back at the sheer stupidity.
Mune lets out a forced chuckle, "Well, we're mechanics, let's find a way out."
Mek takes Mune's hand, letting him pull her up. Together, they go through the toy shops and the front desk area. Mune goes off wards a bit, finding a green tape.
"Hey Mek," Mune waves the green tape, "Have you seen a green player?"
Mek nods, "Over here!"
As Mune jogs over to Mek, he can feel his heart clench slightly. It might have just been his anxiety though.
"Play it," Mek snaps Mune out of his trance as he hesitates.
Mune pushes the tape in and clicks 'play'. There's static and then a picture of something that makes Mune's stomach turn.
The toy of Mune's nightmares, a fox with white skin and purple and orange hair. Their eyes, a shimmering grey. The rest is obscured underneath the screen, just the fox's freckled face. Their goggles hang off of their head, close to falling but not quite.
Mune focuses on his sister, with her pale skin and purple-streaked midnight black hair. Her eyes wander across the screen, as if looking the fox up and down in disgust. Her purple jacket fell over one arm, revealing the black tank-top underneath.
"Mune!" Mek snapped at him, causing him to shake his head.
"Sorry," Mune looks at Mek with his brown doe eyes, "Just anxious."
"You're still scared of Tsuki, after all these years?" Mek walks past Mune and grabs two of the Grabbies.
Mune nods, "Don't you dare make that joke again."
"I wanna so badly," Mek giggles as she straps on the vest that goes with the Grabbies.
Mune sighs, "No. Leave me alone. Plus you act as if you ain't scared of Pheon!"
Mek's face flushes and she sticks her tongue out at Mune, continuing to strap on the Grabby. Mune straps on his with ease, since he used to work with these.
"Could you.. help me?" Mune nods, helping Mek strap her backpack-like device on.
"Let's get going," Mune comments as soon as Mek's ready.
Mek nods, following Mune into the factory. There, they are met with the first toy of the 'Alive Giants' operation; Tsuki.
Mune stumbles back, his breath catching. Tsuki wasn't awake as of this point, but the sight alone made Mune remember that horrid day..
Mune walked with his coworker, Vaani. They were just chatting about random things. A box fell from above them, barely missing Mune's head. Although, it clipped his shoulder.
Mune yelled, pain coursing through it. Vaani yelled to someone nearby to get medical. Mune laid back on Vaani's lap, and beyond her face, he could see Tsuki on the catwalks. Mune's vision blurred and the last thing he remembered was hearing someone ask if his shoulder was broken.
Mune shuddered as he tried to regain himself. The box was exaimed, and there were metal parts on the inside. It would have crushed him had it landed on his head.
Mek brushed against his arm, making him jump. Mek steadied Mune as he almost fell to the ground.
"Sorry," Mek's voice was uncharacteristically quiet, "You good?"
Mune nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat. Tsuki had always been intimidating but after that incident, Mune had been straight up terrified of them.
Standing at 7'6 feet tall, Tsuki had to have been one of the tallest toys in the 'Alive Giants' operation. Luckily, Tsuki had no voice, but this also made Mune stressed, what if they couldn't hear Tsuki coming after them?
"We'll be okay," Mek tugged on Mune's arm, leading him away from the giant toy.
Mune nodded, following his sister. A sudden rush of air made Mune's black and brown hair fly about in his face. He brushed it away to find Mek struggling with the door.
"Locked?" Mune kneeled beside Mek, looking at the door handle and the door in general.
Mek huffed, "Yeah."
"Let's try to find a key," Mune helped Mek up, leading her back out.
Mek tapped his shoulder and pointed, with a trembling hand, to Tsuki's 'waving' hand. There, the key rested on their thumb, but that wasn't the only thing different.
Originally, Tsuki's eyes were closed, revealing the purple eyeshadow. Now, though, those same eyes were wide open, and locked onto Mune. Those grey, piercing eyes of his nightmares.
Mune swallowed yet another lump, taking a shaky step forward. With trembling legs, Mune made his way to the front of where the tall fox was standing, Tsuki's eyes not leaving him once.
With his only working grab hand, he pulled the key off of Tsuki's thumb. Mek made a throwing motion and Mune threw her the key before sprinting back towards the door.
His heart was a jackhammer, and it felt like it was about to break his ribs. With the key, Mek opened the door as Mune caught his breath and collected himself.
Inside the locked room was the Swap-zee's machine. Mek gasped softly as she looked behind Mune. Tsuki was gone from their platform, and probably around somewhere.
Mek made a shushing motion and pointed behind Mune. Mune looked behind him, eyes wide and nodded.
Mek motioned for Mune to activate the machine so that they could try to leave as soon as possible. Mune started the machine with ease, surprisingly. A few parts went through the machine and the machine began to build a figure of a character who Mune recognized as 'Yen'.
Mek gently prodded Mune's shoulder, motioning to the toy detector by a large door. Mune waves it off, making a motion that says he wants to explore a bit first.
Mek nods, following Mune into another hallway. At the end, there's an unlocked door with a character named 'Missi' painted on it. Mune seems a lot more relaxed at the sight of the character, since Missi is nothing like Tsuki in regards of personality.
In looks, however, Missi and Tsuki look close to identical, save for the different outfits and color palettes. Missi is a white and pink fox with yellow eyes, a starch contrast to Tsuki.
Opening the door, Mune's eyes immediately landed on.. Tsuki. Tsuki hiding, or not really hiding, but spying, in the vents. While Mek looks at the two grab hands, Mune and Tsuki have a staring contest. After what feels like forever, Tsuki retreats, the door closing on top of a bit of the fox's hair.
Mune finally looks at what Mek has been poking him to look at. He relaxes slightly at seeing the grab hands, but he's still tense.
Mek pulls him out of his trance, quite literally. She pulls him towards the stairs, basically dragging him down them. At the end, she lets Mune fall to the floor, climbing onto the conveyor belt and over some boxes.
An alert suddenly sounds, and then, the belt starts moving. Mek tries her hardest to fight against the movement of the belt, but she ends up falling back at the start.
Mune stops her before Mek tries again, instead pulling one down, letting the glass shatter. The hand goes across the conveyor and Mune grabs it as the hand finally reaches close enough.
Mune smirks at Mek, to which she huffs and silently stomps her foot. As Mek gets her hand, Mune attaches his to the Grabby. Mune motions for them to continue.
After about 10 minutes later, and no other things except for one red tape explaining the Grabbies, there was nothing. Mek pulled out the Yen figurine, and Mune nodded.
Alarms. That was all Mune heard as Mek placed the Yen toy down. A vent opened, Mek yelling. Everything blurred. Mune ran from the vent that opened, not that he knew where it was, it was just instinctive. The last thing Mune remembered was falling and hitting the floor, before darkness clouded his eyes.
Mek crawled for her life, having lost Mune fueled her with adrenaline. She had to step it up, Mune was no longer here and she wasn't about to die on him. Mek followed the instructions on the walls, covered with warnings and messages in brightly colored crayon or marker. Mek couldn't tell.
Mek made it out to catwalks, the same catwalks where Tsuki first threw the box onto Mune. Mek ran as Tsuki chased her, their silent pads making it semi-hard to hear them. But everything was amplified.
Mek turned and looked up, seeing the same box Tsuki used to hurt Mune all those years ago, she looked at the fox charging at her.
"Revenge, b***." Mek grabbed the box with her grab hand and pulled it down.
Tsuki screamed. Screamed. The fox who nearly killed her brother had screamed. Mek stood in shock as she watched the box land atop Tsuki's back. She didn't know Tsuki had a voice. Tsuki never talked at all!
Mek grunted as she landed on the next catwalk, the one underneath the one she dropped the box on. Tsuki landed on the side of the platform, hanging on by the railing.
Before Mek could do anything, the railing snapped. Tsuki yelled as they fell, their head smashing on the pipe behind them. The rest of the fall was obscured for Mek. The only thing she could think of is Tsuki's scream of pure agony and terror.
Mek snapped out of her trance, walking forward. She had to find Mune. No matter what it took.
Mek came to a door, featherly wings painted around it. It was Phoenix's room, the doll who looked like a clown. Except.. There were toys hanging around it now. Mek swallowed her saliva and continued forward. She ignored the feeling of dread piling in her gut, continuing through the hallway that looked like an older grandma's house.
Mek walked for what felt like hours, the whole time hoping that Mune would randomly appear from one of the doors and tell her to 'come check this out'. Mek rubbed her arms, feeling suddenly very cold despite having a jacket on.
Mek finally came into a room filled with pillows. Moving the pillows revealed a passage way, and yet another, but shorter hallway. Mek shakily takes the door handle into her grasp, turning it.
The door opened with an eerily creak. Inside was another room, filled with pillows. In the center, though, was a case filled with what appeared to be red smoke.
Or Mek was hallucinating, she wouldn't doubt it. Using her grab hand and a decent distance away, Mek opened the case. Then the lights went out.
"You released me from my prison.. Thank you, Mekensi."
