Chapter 1: Mrs. Mundane
Thiz was a 27-year-old woman who lived in the state of Ingrid. Ingrid was a part of a country that seemed to be pulling apart at the seams. Political unrest was normal. Rioting happened almost the instant a political figure said something the other side disagreed with. The once peaceful country lived in a nightmare. People didn’t feel they could trust the other side. It was most apparent in the State Office of Misjustice. This office focused on the wrongdoings of the other half of the country. It handled cases that dealt with racism and prejudice. All the lawyers ran on coffee and politics, but she was different.
Thiz didn’t pay too much attention to politics because she felt they didn’t impact her daily life that much. There were always debates and political parties. As a lawyer, she fought for the people. She was tired of the fear-mongering that the news seemed to make money off of. In her life, there was too much to worry about anyway. She had a wonderful husband, a young son, and a demanding career. Her life was simple and picture-perfect. Everything in her world was safe, and that was the way she liked it.
“Honey, how was work today?” Ken asked as he plumped himself on the sofa. Thiz took off her overly heavy cross-body bag and placed it on the coat hanger. She grabbed her son and sat down on the sofa next to Ken. With a deep breath, she replied, “Tough. I am getting relocated to the next state, Oshewan. I don’t see the purpose of it.”
Ken, staring at the TV, glanced at her and quickly looked back at the TV. “Baby, that is great news. That means you will be making more money, right? We can always use the extra money,” he questioned while stuffing his face with popcorn.
Thiz snatched the remote from Ken and turned the TV off. “I don’t want to watch the news anymore. The stuff they show on there is nothing good for Onyx or anybody. What is he going to learn from people picking the local stores apart?” She let Onyx run off to play with his toys. She wasn’t in the mood to be the devoted mom she usually is. She leaned into Ken’s chest and placed his arm around her, giving her a sense of comfort. “I think I am getting relocated because of the fighting in politics. It’s crazy because on paper it might be good, but I don’t care about the money. I care that I work for the people of Ingrid to have the same rights as the people of Oshewan. You know, Jackie said I should stop crying. She doesn’t get it because she can blend right on in with the people in that fucking state. I wanted to tell her it doesn’t matter that I might not be fighting against Ingrid. If I am not fighting for, then anything I do will be fighting against.”
Ken got up and grabbed Onyx to put him down for a nap in his room upstairs. Thiz followed until she got to the top of the stairs and turned into her room instead. She crawled into bed and from her nightstand pulled a bottle of wine and a glass that had ‘EMERGENCY’ written all over it. She poured herself a drink. Ken walked into the room. His face was disappointed at the sight of the wine glass. It reminded him of his ex too much, but he realized how serious Thiz’s job transfer meant to her. He went around to the other side of the bed and got in. He called Thiz’s name, and she turned around with tired eyes. Ken caressed her cheek. “Babe, everything is going to be okay. Maybe this is a way for God to give us a sign to give Onyx a sibling. We always talked about having another baby. I want us to have a little girl.” Ken began kissing on Thiz’s neck as he moved his hand over her body. Thiz pushed him off. She drank the last of her wine, turned over in bed, and went to sleep.
Ken was slightly offended by being ignored. There was not much more convincing he could do for the rest of the night. He turned over himself, and went to bed. This was unusual because he normally fell asleep spooning Thiz, but they both were too agitated.
The next morning, Thiz woke up and got ready for work. She went downstairs, where Ken was waiting in his suit and tie. Today was a big day for him, as he had a party at work to congratulate him on his recent military accomplishments. Thiz didn’t really peak much in his work life. She felt it involved politics too heavily to be interesting, so it was a surprise to see him dressed nicely. They kissed each other and sat down at the table to start eating. Ken held Thiz’s hands, looking lovingly at her. “Thiz, I want to try for another baby tonight.”
Thiz nearly choked on the biscuit she was eating. “I don’t think it’s the right time, especially with all this stuff going on at work. If you want... If you are feeling that way, just watch your nephew or something.”
Ken removed his hands angrily from Thiz’s. “I want our family to grow. I love Onyx so much that I know he needs someone to play with. Baby, please think about it before it is too late.”
“Babe, I am 27. I have time, but I think you are right, so if it happens, it happens.”
Ken got up with such happiness that he nearly fell. “Don’t forget. I have a party at my job today, I would love if you could make it. I know it’s kind of last-minute, but it would just make me so happy to have you right next to me.” He grabbed Onyx and went to the daycare. Then Thiz left shortly thereafter.
When Thiz went by her old office to pack up her things, there was a mix of emotions. Some were happy about the forced transfer, and others were upset. The main TV in the law firm started playing the news. It seemed that the news grabbed everyone’s attention as a crowd moved in. The news anchor blurted out, “Breaking news, the war between the two states has gotten to a whole time high. The military had started implementing blockades at the border....” Thiz left the crowd and returned to packing her things. Here we goagain, she thought. Joel came by her desk once he saw she had departed from the rest of the group.
Joel was a colleague who was all too excited about the transfer. He lived in Oshewan in a house that was too big for him. This meant he would be close to home and have less of a commute. Joel always seemed too flirtatious with Thiz’s, but she thought nothing of it. She knew she would never leave her husband for anyone, especially him. “How are you today, Thiz? You didn’t seem too scared about what’s going on,” he asked as he helped put her stuff in the box.
“I am as okay as I will ever be.”
“How come you walked away from the news; it seemed pretty important about the blockades?” He said as he moved in closer.
“I don’t think that stuff is really going to be happening. At the end of the day, we will still be one country. Also, half of that stuff doesn’t affect my life. Tomorrow, I will still be a wife and a mom to the same exact people.”
“But you live in Ingrid and work in Oshewan. I mean, aren’t you concerned about getting back and forth? Maybe you should look to work somewhere else?” At this point, he had stopped putting her stuff in a box and strategically placed his hand on her shoulder. She turned to face him to force her shoulder away from his grasp.
“Where would I work? My job is for this department, not making some company millions by suing the small man.”
Joel moved in a step closer, and Thiz moved a step back. “Just between us, I know you like me. I don’t care if you have a husband, we can figure it out...” Thiz’s face contorted in disbelief. She couldn’t imagine how he got this idea in his head. “Now that you will be working in my state, this is an opportunity for us to work things out,” he continued as he reached out and held Thiz’s hand.
Thiz had enough and asked Joel to leave her office, but right before he left, her boss came in. Mandy was from the State’s Office. “Hello, Thiz. Hello, Joel. I came by to invite you guys to lunch. The whole office is going out to congratulate Joel as attorney advisor for the state of Oshewan. Hopefully, he can be the glue that keeps the two states happy.
Thiz responded, “I don’t think that would be appropriate. I have to leave early to go to my husband’s office party.”
Mandy gave a disapproving look. Her tone changed as she questioned Thiz. “What does your husband do for work again?”
“He is a general in the Ingrid military,” Thiz stated with glee as she was so proud of her husband’s accomplishments.
“So, he is the reason why the 2 states fight constantly. I am sure he might have shot a few bullets at a couple of rioters,” Mandy said in a demanding tone.
“No, my husband is not like that.” Thiz left the awkwardness that was building in the room. When she arrived at Ken’s job, she was greeted with warmth and compassion. “Mrs. Oiloye,” everyone stated with their hellos and hugs. Her husband came behind her and gave her a hug.
Shortly, Ken’s boss came by to greet her. “Mrs. Oiloye, you are a lucky woman.” Thiz gave a warm smile. “Ken is working oh so very hard at combining the 2 states. Soon enough, we can really be one country. Maybe you could reward him in a way that no one of us could ever.” Thiz’s face showed the perplexed emotion she was having as she was trying to understand what the man was alluding to. “You know, we need more people like Ken, so maybe you give him another baby.” Thiz felt immediately violated, and it showed. She looked at Ken, but he was aloof to her. Noticing her body language, Ken’s boss tried to clarify, “Oh, I didn’t mean to intrude, but Ken was so happy this morning when he came into work that everyone at the office asked why. We thought it could’ve been the party today, but he explained to us that you are trying for a little girl.” Thiz removed Ken’s arm from her waist and immediately filled with fury. She couldn’t believe that Ken would share something so private. She looked at Nick, holding in her emotions, and quietly excused herself. She walked out the door to the closest hallway. Ken immediately followed her.
“Thiz, what is wrong?” Ken said as he held onto her arms.
“I can’t believe your whole office knows about our sex life now. Like, seriously, Ken. I know you are excited, but can you please keep some stuff just between us?”
“What’s wrong with them knowing that we are trying to grow our family?”
“Because we barely talked about it ourselves. I don’t even really know if I want to have this baby. I mean, I didn’t say we were actively trying.”
“Thizzie, what changed from this morning? We agreed that it was a good idea.”
“I don’t want to talk about it. I just want to go home.”
“Fine. I will tell my mother to pick up Onyx from daycare.”
As they walked outside of the building, Thiz was in complete dismay. Her car was on fire. It looked like someone threw a bomb at it. On the side of it was the word “traitor” in all black graffiti. Thiz quickly turned to Ken and fell into his arms. Unphased, Ken soon called the cops. Thiz’s face was buried in Ken’s chest, and she let out a muffled cry. He held her close until the cops arrived. The firefighters put out the fire, and the police came back to Ken and Thiz. “Obviously, this looks like a hate crime. We don’t know who did it or why, but we will contact you with any further questions. You guys should head home and get some rest.”
As soon as Thiz entered the house, Ken grabbed some wine and poured her a drink. Thiz snapped, “You think I want to drink to this, to any of this? I am stressed out, Ken, and here you are only caring about an unborn baby.”
Ken was already in his mid-thirties with a successful career. The only thing he wanted was a big family. Overwhelmed by her emotions, Ken tried to calm her down. “Baby, it’s okay. I can drive you to work until we can get you another car.”
Thiz looked at him from across the room with eyes of pain. “I spoke with Joel, and maybe he is right that I should quit my job until I can find another. So, I don’t have to worry about the blockades.”
“What?! No, baby, the raise is what we need....”
Thiz cut Ken off with such quickness. “Don’t you dare say for the baby.”
Ken walked over and held Thiz. “I am so sorry for not thinking about you, but I am getting older, and want to be an active father to our children. I promise that everything will be okay. Once this war is over, I will take you out on that honeymoon we never got to take. Just do this one thing for me. You never know when I could die with this war coming.”
Thiz realized that she was being selfish in this marriage, so she finally gave in. “I am so sorry about lashing out at you. This has been just so much.”
Thiz looked into Ken’s big brown eyes and melted. Slowly, she uttered the word okay from her soft-spoken lips. Before she could finish, Ken closed his eyes and tilted his head down, and softly said, “Thank you.” He perched his lips on hers.
The kiss became more passionate as their tongues danced around each other’s mouths. Ken cuffed his hand on one of Thiz’s cheeks, and the other filled with her breast. He paused and spoke to his smart speaker to play baby-making music. Thiz giggled. “You are taking this seriously?”
“I want to do everything I can to make you pregnant.” He looked deeply into her as if his heart was filled with love and joy. He slid his hand down her shoulder, taking her sleeve from her blazer with him. The other hand guided her face toward his. He continued to undress her until she was only left in her undergarments.
In the back of Thiz’s mind, she wasn’t too sure if she was ready to commit to having another child. The world was crumbling around her, and having a child seemed like a risk. She was hoping that she wouldn’t conceive. She felt ashamed for feeling this way, but it was better than saying it.
He lifted Thiz onto the counter. He unhooked her bra, and a rush of emotion filled her. “Kenz,” Thiz moaned. That was his pet name whenever she was aroused. His kisses started to travel from her lips to her neck, and then to her nipples. Thiz let out another moan. This caused Ken to turn more animalistic, and his animalistic nature turned her on beyond belief. There was this urge from him to dominate and procreate. While suckling on her breast, he flicked her nipple with his tongue. His hands walked down to her panty line, where he clinched the bit of fat surrounding her waist. His fingers wrapped around both sides of her panties, and with the loudest of groans, he tore them from her. Her bare flesh remained exposed.
Then he stared at her, and she stared back at him. He began to gently push her legs apart to expose her plump pussy lips. He scooted her bum closer to the edge of the counter as he got on his knees. He dug his tongue into her slit. Lapping up every juice that she released. One finger entered her, then two. The fingers motioned her to cum. Then her head flew back, and her eyes rolled, her arms supporting her weight.
She couldn’t handle it anymore and got Ken’s attention. She then motioned him to the bedroom that lay up the stairs. He grabbed her and whisked her up to the room.
In this moment, he was still fully clothed. That didn’t last long. His clothes dripped slowly from his strong, muscular frame. Thiz sat on the bed and pulled him closer. She started to stroke his fully erect dick. She positioned it in her mouth. Ken had other plans than to receive a blow job. He picked her up and threw her on the bed. His broad shoulders eclipsed her small frame. Hovering over her, he came closer and whispered, “I want to fill you with cum. To guarantee that you will have my kids.”
Thiz shivered at his proposition, not due to the chills that came with being turned on, but due to the fact that she was just appeasing him. He licked his fingers before pressing them onto her opening. Then, in the same breath, he plunged his dick into her ever so gently. She bit her lip with satisfaction. He knew how to control her orgasm completely. He began thrusting slowly but eventually picked up momentum. “Thiz, tell me you want me!” He exclaimed. She complied. Thiz was now ready to take control.
She thought that this was the time to surprise him. She could tell he was ready to finish, and she switched positions. She straddled him and forced him to float off into ecstasy. She put his cock into a place he has never been. She pushed it into her ass, and he came. His eyes peered straight at her with such pleasure, but the pleasure was only temporary. He was fully aware that this was her ploy not to become pregnant. His face soon turned into disgust, and she quickly removed herself from on top of him. He was confused as he was still on the high from his first time doing anal, but disappointed that his wife would betray him.
“Thiz, why would you do that?”
“I wanted to try something new,” she obviously lied.
“No. You are lying to me. I can’t believe that you would lie, but also deceive me. You said you were sorry.” He was visibly furious. He went to the adjacent bathroom to take a shower. Thiz felt guilty.
She messed up this situation because she was just so stupid and afraid. “Ken, I am feeling a lot of pressure from you. I feel like when I say no, you get so mad.”
“That is not how you handle that. Thiz, I think it’s something else,” he yelled from the shower.
Once he was done with his shower, he climbed back into bed. Not once did he send a look in her direction. “Thiz. Why are you afraid of having more children? We both talked about having a big family when we got married.”
Thiz didn’t realize she was scared of something happening to them until that moment. She understood that if he left her, she couldn’t afford the kids on her own. With this war looming over her head, she was terrified of what it could do. “What if we got pregnant and you died during war?”
“Thizzie, I doubt that I would die, but even if I did. My benefits would cover you and the kids.”
“What if I worked in Oshewan and they closed the border completely, and I couldn’t get back to you? I would just feel better if I didn’t work at this job. Maybe we should move.”
“Do you believe in God?”
“Yes.”
“Okay, then we don’t have to move, and you don’t have to quit. You are a general’s wife. I could easily get you. Nothing bad will happen to you, babe. I am here for you.”
“You never told me why you never had kids with your ex-wife.”
“She had another man’s baby while we were together.”
“How did you know it wasn’t yours?”
“The other man claimed the baby.” Ken became agitated by all the questions. “Thiz, as long as you don’t cheat on me, I will never leave you. You have been the most supportive wife, the most loving wife. Let’s get to bed so I can pick up Onyx in the morning. ”
“No, it’s okay. I forgot something anyway at the office. Let me go pick up Onyx.”
“Ok, Baby. Drive safe.”
