PROLOGUE
“Again,” he ordered for the third time.
The screen in front lit up. A series of images began to play. It was a room in a hospital. It was pristine white until blood splattered against one of the walls, breaking the harmony. Everything happened so quickly that the massacre lasted only a few seconds. The shadow moved from one end to the other, attacking anyone who tried to approach the bed, where a young woman lay oblivious to the barbarity happening around her.
Suddenly, the young woman opened her eyes, black as the deepest darkness, and looked towards the camera. A shiver ran down his spine. It was as if she knew she was being watched. Then, there was a power outage where only the agonizing screams of the people being killed could be heard. The video resumed when a group of assailants appeared to stop it, but the girl did something for which no one was prepared. She screamed. A gut-wrenching scream, so loud that not even the radio frequency could detect it. The walls began to collapse, the glass and windows shattered, and the agents fell to the ground while blood gushed from their eyes, nose, and ears.
And then, everything ended.
He turned off the monitor and approached an officer who had remained stunned. His face showed that of someone completely terrified. And he understood perfectly. But that enraged him even more because he too was scared.
“You know what to do,” he said in a firm and demanding tone, trying to hide the shakiness in his voice.
The darkness had been unleashed.
