In the year 2230 AD, private detective M received a request to investigate a case of infidelity. Invited into a luxurious room, M listened to the story from a middle-aged woman trembling with anger.
“Recently, my husband has been stopping somewhere on his way home from work without telling me. It must be an affair!”
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the husband had been regularly visiting a pet shop for a while. Pets such as dogs and cats, which were once mere companion animals, have gained intelligence through genetic modification and are no longer just pets.
M visited the pet shop with a sense of foreboding. The cages were filled with pets of various colors.
The shop owner promptly responded when queried.
“Ah, that gentleman purchased a pet from here a month ago.”
M promptly called the client.
“It seems that your husband bought a pet a month ago. What? He didn’t tell you about buying a pet?”
As M headed to a nearby park, the husband in question came into view, walking his pet.
“Oh, this is embarrassing. I couldn’t bring myself to tell my wife that I had purchased a pet, so I’ve been secretly keeping it in the park. The pet begs me for a walk every day, so I take it for a walk after work before going home.”
While looking up at the pet, who was happily devouring its food, M muttered.
“Humans have been domesticated by us for a long time. It’s about time they understand that they can’t go for walks every day.”
With the case solved, M’s tail wagged with joy.
