The Huntsman Association: Act I

I lost both of my parents when I was a little girl due to a raid by the rouges, and that was when the Huntsman Association found me in the rubble of my old home in District Five.

“Avery! Leon is back, and he is calling a meeting!”

I stood up, looking up towards the darkness of the night, remembering my past.

I stepped off the roof’s edge and landed perfectly on my feet before the small group outside the front door.

“Avery, good for you to join us,” I smirked at my team lead, seeing a few new faces with him.

“Whoa, who is that?”

I turned away from the rookies and opened the door for them, leaving them to look around the sector for team four.

I took my seat between Oscar and Aaron, waiting for Leon to tell us what was going seeing how we had not been on a raid in a while.

“Alright, I left for London to head to HQ, and they wanted each team lead to take on a few rookies and show them how we handle things,” Leon calmly told us.

I raised an eyebrow, wondering why these raids could be one thing and go to high risk fast without any thought.

“Leon, do you think this is safe?” Oscar wearily asked, leaving his forearms on the table, eyeing our team lead.

“No, I do not agree with this, seeing how the rookies should be tested with their professors, yet the high-ups believe this will be safer,” Leon told us.

He then explained how we were heading to one of the lower districts outside of District I.

I sighed, feeling like something terrible would happen and we would never have any way to prevent the issue from occurring.

My team and I left the room to get ready with the rookies who were straining and watching how we got prepared for the Raids.

I quickly gathered my shadow blades and strapped them into place along with my black belt and pouches filled with healing and poisonous potions.

I still had a bad feeling in my gut, and I looked between Oscar and Aaron, and we all felt the same foreboding darkness surrounding us.

I grabbed my hair and quickly braided it away from my face, and we finished getting ready.

The rookies followed us outside, where Leon was waiting for us with the chopper.

I quickly shadowed and stepped into the chopper, taking my place on the floor, sitting crisscross with my arms folded over my chest and my eyes closed.

“H-How did she do that?” I scoffed, ignoring them, with my boys strapping in their seats behind me.

“I will explain to each of my teammates, seeing how we need to know what everyone can do,” Leon calmly said, and I heard his voice hold a slight annoyance.

“Avery is an S-class Huntsman along with her teammates. She is known as a shadow assassin, Oscar is a brawler, and Aaron is a well-known Tank with his use of his broad sword and fire element.”

I kept my eyes closed, ignoring the long speech Leon was going into for the rookies.

I knew we were entering the Raid I area with how many rogues were nearby, and yet I sensed something higher than what was in this area.

“Captain, There is something higher in the area, and I do not have a clear location,” I softly said, keeping my eyes closed.

“Hmm, we will stay together, and I want Aaron to be in front with Oscar in the rear. Rookies with me,” Leon sternly ordered.

“Wait, what about her,” one of the other females pipped out.

I rolled my eyes, standing up and stepping out of the chopper before it could land, and shadow stepped into the area outside of the small village near District I.

I scanned the area, looking for anything out of the ordinary, and I smirked when I saw a few low-ranked rouges coming this way, and I quickly dispatched them with worry.

I stood up and flicked my moon blades to the side, getting rid of the blood from the rogue goblins, waiting for the rest of the team to show.

“Well, Ave, it looks like you terrified the rookies,” Aaron pointed out. I turned my eyes toward them, watching the three rookies stare at me with wide-open eyes.

“They better smarten up, or this can turn ugly for all of us,” I calmly said, twirling my blades with my hands and placing them back in the sheathes.

That is very true indeed,” Oscar said, fixing his gauntlet’s.

I nodded, and we began to surround the group. I quickly summoned a protection barrier to surround the whole group.

I can still feel that high rank somewhere in the area, but I cannot sense its location, and it was starting to worry me to see how these rookies are now under our protection.

I kept my eyes open with my senses, and I knew whatever was going to happen, we would have to step in and deal with the problem.

“Up ahead, there is a rank E rogue,” I calmly said, looking ahead and quickly removing one of my moon blades.

I remained calm and ready to protect the rookies if the rogue gained rank during the fight.

“Alright, this is going to be what we will do. The rookies are going to fight the E rank with our support,” Leon sternly told us, giving us a stern look and sighed, feeling this was a terrible idea.

I unsummoned the barrier around the rookies, and we all moved stealthily toward the area where I felt the low-ranking rogue.

I narrowed my eyes, crouching and placing my left hand flat on the ground to feel the area, closing my eyes to sense around us.

I opened my eyes when we all heard a loud screeching sound that was coming from up above.

I felt the same darkness coming from the Ferian Bird, which was usually a high B-rank, and now I knew that was not the case.

I tried to yell for everyone to prepare themselves when I felt the strong wind attack, and the whole group scattered from the attack.
