Chapter 1 - Opal

*****GALATEA EXCLUSIVE. FIRST FIVE CHAPTERS ONLY.***

Opal

The rain was thrashing down and the light blouse I had worn showed my white bra as the rain soaked me. The pencil skirt clung to my thighs as I dashed along the sidewalk. There had never been rain this heavy before. It was as if rivers were running down the streets.

The light ballet pumps I was wearing didn’t matter anymore, and any passing person couldn’t see the tears which were streaming down my face.

Running as fast as I could to get away from him,I didn’t care anymore... I had got away from him, got out, and escaped. He had held me for the last six months locked in a room, not letting me go out. Every time he was home, he let me out, but only after he had made sure all the windows and doors were locked.

My legs were tired and lungs sore, but I kept running. He wouldn’t be far behind me, especially if I stopped. The yell from behind me told me he was catching up. I needed a lucky break. My legs couldn’t carry on much longer. I turned a corner and tried doors as I passed them.

Finally, I reached a place where a door was slightly ajar, and pushed through it without even checking what the place was. I mean, nothing could be anything worse than what I had escaped.

Totally out of breath, I sank down on the back of the door.

“Please god don’t let him know I’m in here.”

My head dropped between my knees, hugging them, crying.

“Please god, please, please. Don’t let him find me.”

The splashing of footsteps ran past. Holding my breath and trying to listen to see if they keep ongoing. I can’t tell by the noise of the rain beating down outside the door.

Silently praying, I had carefully planned the escape, gaining Gareth’s trust before I ran off. Unfortunately for me, it didn’t take him long to realize I had escaped out of my room window.

Every time it came for me to be locked back up in my room, Gareth would make me strip naked and he would check me and the clothes I had on before he allowed me back in the room. I hated him touching me, but I had risked it for my escape.

I had been on my period; it was the only time I got a bit more privacy recently.

In the house, as I cooked the meal in the kitchen under his watch, he had relaxed when I was out of my room as I hadn’t given him any reason to now not trust me enough to go to the toilet myself. Yes, it sounds pretty horrible, but that was the way he was. He had me trapped, and I feared for my life half the time. I wasn’t sure what he was capable of.

This time when I went to change myself, the tampon I had inserted held my secret to getting me out.

A bit of a risk for me, but he was less thorough with the searching during my period.

I had found a small hairpin. I didn’t know who it was, maybe a cleaner, but I slipped it into the center of the tampon before I inserted it. My nerves were shot to pieces, as I didn’t know if it would work, but it was a ray of hope for me.

Acting as normal as I could, I continued the last five minutes of my time before he led up the stairs and instructed me to strip as normal. Noticing that I was on, he didn’t touch me, and let me go back into my room before he locked the door.

Hearing his footsteps walk away, I waited five minutes before going to the small bathroom I had attached to the room, and removed the pin from the tampon, replacing a new one in.

Keeping the pin hidden, I tried every time he locked me in the room to pick the window lock. It was the morning the rain was coming down heavily that the lock clicked open, and I found myself free. Well, almost.

As the breezy air came in through the window with the freshness of the rain, it made me smile for the first time in ages. I hadn’t felt the rain on my skin since before I had met Gareth and he trapped me in his house.

He was the perfect gentleman when I met him, to the point where I wondered what was wrong with him. Three months into the relationship he had coaxed me to come live with him. When I agreed, he was over the moon and made me so happy. It all changed within a week of me being there. His moods and jealousy. Soon he didn’t allow me out, then I was fired from my job. Now I realize that was because of something he did.

With my escape, I put the simplest shoes on, as I knew I would be running. I didn’t know where to, and with no money or anything, I didn’t know how far I would get.

The fear of what would happen if he found me terrified me. Would he then chain me up inside under lock and key with no future of escape? He was that sort of sadistic person.

Gareth only ever allowed me to have a simple white blouse and pencil skirts, he couldn’t stand me looking any other way. I had to wear it from the moment I woke till I went to bed.

Sitting crying silently behind the door I had slipped behind, I prayed he wouldn’t find me.

I had shut the door when I came in. I didn’t know where I was. Looking up and around the place, there was a large passageway leading to the next door.

Now wondering if I should get up and see what is behind the door. I wiped my face and stood up on shaky legs. Still sore from running, I rested against the cool wall, as I felt dizzy when I stood up.

He’s shouting my name, and I know he’s close by.

“Move it, girl, make your legs walk.” I whispered to myself, mentally giving myself the willpower to move forward.

As I made my way down the corridor and to the next door, I rested my hand on the handle, just about to go through. The front door I had come through opened, and there he stood, rain dripping down off his soaked hair and clothes.

My heartbeat raised up about a hundred times a minute as I fumbled with the door handle, panic setting in over my body as he started walking towards me.

“You’re coming back home darling, you know you have been a very naughty girl. I hope you look forward to the punishment I have set out for you.” The evil glare he gave me made my body almost give up and collapse.

He made a move to grab me and I screamed as loud as I could.

“No…” My cry for help was my only hope before Gareth’s hand came over my mouth.

Would the person behind the other door hear me? Or was this my end?
