Introduction

Life in Glasstown was quiet. It was a beautiful place, full of mountains and greenery; almost magical when the rain fell. It was warm all year round except December, when the snow fell for 28 days.

When a child is born they are entered into a large database. A database for a soulmate. Someone you can dedicate your life to. You’ve maybe heard of ‘fated mates’ given to another by the goddess. Well this was a soulmate, someone to live your life with - if you choose; given to you by the government. Not as enchanting. You are matched with another when you are 1 hour old.

When Karina was born; Tristian was born on the same day. Their parents giving birth in the same hospital. Making them exactly the same age.

By coincidence they were also matched randomly on the database. On their 16th birthday, their parents will give a key to give to each of them (one they had recieved in the post prior) Both Karina and Tristians keys will be identical; signifying that ‘soulmate status’.

It has been told that only a few have declined the key, returning it within the deisgnated time; signaling that they do not care to search for their other half. This notifys the other person that their key is also to be retuned and they will never have that soulmate opportunity.

You may find this unfair but it is how it is. You then go on to try and naviage this world on your own, trying to find your own other half.

In the small village just outside of Glasstown city centre lived Tristian. His parents cottage was alive with history; being one of the oldest houses left in this area and being a cottage, it actually had two floors. The cherry blossom trees that resigned in his front garden bloomed all year except December. It was magical.

His parents had lights all along their front porch which illuminated the cottages shape and size. It was truely a sight. Shame Tristian didn’t see it that way. He lothed how his home looked like a fairytale. How his mother spent her time gardening in the back garden. How his father hardly spoke a word to him as he ‘wasn’t his brother’. Rylan had died in a snowboarding accident on the mountains and his father Gary was beyond devastated at the loss.

Life for Tristian was awful to say the least and he nost definitely didn’t care for anyone but himself.

All but 5 miles along the road lived Karina and her father and step mother.

But no, not the ugly step mother you hear in unkind fairytales but the caring kind. The kind that picked up the pieces of her broken home and made it beautiful again. When Karinas mother passed at birth, her father raised her himself until she was 4 year old.

Karina had taken her dog to the vet and the lovely vet nurse had made her dog feel better and became a member of the family.

Talia was a widow too, her husband falling ill shortly after their marriage. He left her the estate where they all live together now. She told Karina she was a beautiful princess and one day would find her prince. Karina felt like she was already a princess because she had the life of one; given the extremely large house they lived in with a pool.

Will love blossom for Karina or Tristian? Or will one of them choose to be alone..
