"Colourful recount of a cheeky young boy growing into a determined kind gentleman with principles of steel! I experienced flashbacks into history with Charles during wartime Briton, felt his worry helping out with family conditions growing up. Synchronised with the rush and excitement he had meeting loved ones during battle. Throughout the pages I sensed Charles' hardships and development of resilience after every setback and struggle during the war. Difficulties with friends, family and his own illness lead him to grow stronger spiritually after when the war ended. Charles' perseverance to be kind and helping others in difficult times of other's and his own serves as an example to all. Overall a light, personal and entertaining introduction to memoir and historical reading during WII."

"I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Charles' life adventures. I felt I was with him on his journeys throughout the chapters. I read his life story in one sitting I was so entrenched in his story. I would recommend this story for everyone to read. What a wonderful life Charles has lived and continues to live during his long life. Charles' positivity shines throughout his life's story."
