To others, she was just some exotic plaything. Something to control for a while until they got bored. Nobody knew that being Solána Aria De Luca was hard sometimes. She had successfully made her way to the position of COO (Chief Operating Officer) on her own, and slaved away to get it. She swore off relationships after being nearly crushed in two by her ex-fiancée, who unfortunately worked three floors up hers now.

His plot was simple and even Solána’s parents knew he was using her. Using her to get to the top. Now, she was fearing that he’d take her place. Take everything from her like he’d done her heart.

She felt fingers wrap around her arm and shake her. Truth is she was already awake. she just laid there and contemplated her life for 10 minutes.Should I go get money or lay in bed all day?

She opened her eyes to see Drea in front of her, chuckling. “Get your lazy ass up. You have a job.”

“Can you not remind me I’m an adult?”

“Of course not. I want you to suffer this man-made hell.” She said dramatically, pulling the cover off her and letting the cool air hit her bare legs. She groaned in protest, still not ready to face people after her humiliation. Depression kicked ass. However, she knew that her boss was announcing his retirement and the plans moving forward. She couldn’t miss it.

He told her of his plan to retire and let his son take on the family business, which was bizarre since not one person has ever seen him. He never appeared for interviews or meetings. From her point of view, he was least qualified for anything concerning the company.

It didn’t take long for her to get ready since she was a simple girl. She let the concealer hide her broken complexion and the eye bags that formed. At home, she could show her miserableness. But in front of her employees, she was stone. She was, even more, ice cold at the events of her being left at the altar.

The building was busier than usual today and bumping into people along the way into the elevator was starting to become a hobby. But being bumped while coming out of the elevator? That shit was new. Especially onherfloor. Everyone knew not to disrupt her unless someone was dying.

The cup of coffee in her hand decided to defy gravity and land on the floor gracefully... Before tipping over. She immediately looked at the asshole that bumped into her and her eyes did a double-take to make sure she wasn’t imagining the attractive man clad in an Armani suit standing in front of her.

His eyebrow shot up when she stood there, being a fool, saying nothing. She was simply surprised. His eyes were an icy blue with hair as dark as night. It was slicked back in a way that was naturally alluring with a scar that ran down his jaw.

“You need to watch where you’re going.” He spoke, the bass in his voice only made her blush. Thankfully her skin was dark enough to not show it.

His words brought her back to the reality of the situation. “Excuse you? The last time I checked, visitors aren’t allowed on my floor.”

“What makes you think I’m a visitor?” His eerily calm behavior only irked her nerves.

“I know every person that works on my floor. So, who are you?” The corner of his lips twitched as she squinted and analyzed him. If something was missing, she knew who to suspect.

Angelique, her secretary, eyes widened in horror when she spotted her. She only looked at her in confusion as she rushed over, her lips fixing to try and tell Solána something. She only stood her ground against the tower of a man standing over her. A small squeak left Angelique’s throat.

“People have never uttered those words to me,Ciccolato.” She only scoffed at this man’s audacity.

“So?”

“M-Ms. De Luca... I- um... T-that’s Mr. Xander Guerrero. One of the new investors... of theentire corporation. He came down to formally introduce himself with his brother, who unfortunately c-couldn’t make it.”

“Why didn’t you say that from the beginning?” She grits out at him, annoyed by how he sent her in a loop. She was more so raged at the fact that her boss went behind her back and got a new investor after she said no. But the man was greedy for money.

The corner of his lips twitched again before he went into the elevator, sidestepping her spilled coffee. “See you soon,Ciccolato.”

She rolled her eyes at the stupid name he suddenly began to call her and went to her office with Angelique frantically on her heels.

“That man doesn’t look like he plays games! How in the hell are you even still allowed to work here? He could’ve got Mr. Gianchi to fire your ass on the spot!” She whispered until they got into her office, away from prying eyes.

“Angel, you know these people need me more than I need them. Without me, this place would burn to the ground.” Which was the truth. Without her intellect, James would never have secured so many deals to build this place up. He wouldn’t even have anything to give to his son.

She scoffed and shook her head. “You are oblivious.”

“Of?”

“The twins!”Twins. How can I work with two of them when I can’t even handle an introduction with one?

Angel continues to tell her about all these things she was supposed to care about. Something about them being off the radar yet how successful they were. No one had ever got a picture of them so the world didn’t know what they looked like.Who the hell are these people?

She sighed softly, feeling like the day was going too slow. The darkness of the night still hasn’t come and the quietness that she loved wasn’t coming any time soon. Not now that every girl on her floor has seen the infamous twin and won’t stop talking about it.
