Summary

Unable to pay her father’s debts and unwilling to give her castle to the creditors, she burns it down and leaves for Paris, together with her companion Matilda. In Paris, Gloria works as a maid in the tavern. She recollects there is her father’s yacht in Marseilles, and she goes to the sea together with Matilda. Shortly after that, their yacht crashes. Lord Edward Lorrell and his ship “Victoria” save them. Lord Lorrell, English aristocrat in exile, half pirate, half merchant, leads his ship to the New World. Gloria admires him, but will she be able to love him?
