Hopeless Nerd
The story I’m about to tell is based on the fact that I have a villain like quirk: Hypnosis. Of course, I end up meeting someone who I can relate to... But let’s start from the beginning.
I sat in the living room and hesitantly turned on the TV, hoping my strict parents weren’t watching me. Thank goodness they weren’t there, because I ended up watching adult cartoons and mystery shows. The gritty and gorey details of these shows were fascinating to me...However, once I changed the channel, a certain news report caught my eye: “Breaking news: Thirty-one-year old Nemuri Kayama also known as Pro Hero Midnight, has been under arrest for sexual harassment of a minor, Minoru Mineta...”
They went into great detail what they did to him... And let’s just say for once, at that moment, I felt bad for the kid. Guess karma got to him. I turned off the TV and cupped my hands over my mouth. ’Why does something always happen to class 1-A? I feel so bad for them...And I had no clue there was even such thing as female pedophiles! I thought dressing sexual like that was just part of her act! The whole time a pedophile was the art history teacher! I just... I need to meet people outside of this school! Immediately! Poor Minoru!′ I thought as I gripped my cheeks.
Suddenly, I heard the doorbell ring. My bloodshot eyes darted towards the black wooden door. I assumed it was my parents so I immediately combed my messy purple hair and straightened my clothes.“Who is it?” I asked, trying not to sound scared. “It’s Mr. Shinso! Is anyone home?”
Of course, it’s him...
“I’m home, father!” I called out with a fake smile. I walked up to the door. The large, blue haired man unlocked the door and immediately hugged me. I hugged him back, he felt warm and fuzzy. I was displaying happiness on the outside, but in my head I was terribly scared that any other teacher in the school would suddenly commit a crime. Even with quirks more heroic than mine.
“How’s my little gentleman? Did you clean up your room? Did you wash the dishes? Did you do all your homework? Did you restrict the use of your quirk?” Father asked. He always asked the same questions every day at nauseum. It’s one of the many reasons I have bags under my eyes. “I’m good! I got all my homework done, cleaned up my room, washed all the dishes after I ate leftovers, and restricted the use of my quirk!” I said with that damn fake smile.

“Very good boy!
...wait a minute...” My dad walked over to the couch and coffee table. He closely inspected the small brown coffee table, fixing his glasses.
“I see footprints! DID YOU PUT YOUR FEET ON THE TABLE?!” He said with dark brown eyes staring into my core.
“N-no, dad! No!” My smile instantly faded.
“YOU’RE LYING!! THESE ARE YOUR FOOTPRINTS!!” He pointed at them.
“Please dad no! Not the nipple tasers!” I covered my chest.
“Did you watch anything inappropriate while putting your feet on the table?!”
“No dad! Just educational programming! Please don’t punish me!” I sweat so much, I swear my hair was looking a bit less neat.
“Oh you’re getting it, BIG TIME! NO MORE TV FOR A MONTH! NOW CLEAN UP THIS MESS!” Dad used his mind quirk to make a scrub brush and empty bucket float towards me.
I sighed and frowned as I grabbed them both. I then went to the sink, got some soap and water, then washed the coffee table as my furious father kept his eyes on me the whole time.
My dad always made me feel absolutely hopeless. Didn’t help that my mom was just as strict too. All because of my mind control quirk. If I didn’t have this, they’d let me do more things on my own... But they didn’t trust me.
In the dorms, however, I was free to be as emotionless as I wanted. No more painful smiles, no more restricted bed times... And absolutely no more combing of the hair.
Just pure Hitoshi.
But continuing where I left off, I scrubbed the wooden table until it was spotless. My dad grabbed the cleaning products from me and grumpily pointed at the stairs. I felt like controlling him to stop so I could resume doing what I wanted, but I didn’t, out of fear that I would get a worse punishment than tv ban. I walked up the stairs with my back straight and my arms to the side, eager to slouch over but couldn’t. He WATCHED every step once I looked back!
‘Aizawa is a better dad than him...’ I thought. I went into my purple and black room, finally escaping my dad’s eyes. I glanced at the mirror and messed up my hair. I then locked the door and plopped onto my bed. I felt like a deflating balloon once I realized that tommorow was the science fair. My project was done, sure, but I thought it would fail from my lack of sleep.
Heroes from different schools across Japan were gonna be there, so I had to bring in my A-game.
I slept the night away, only to wake up 3 in the morning to work on my science project about how chemicals effected earth worms. Of course, I had to hide this project from my mother since she has vermiphobia (the fear of worms).
Chemicals eating through worms was only a fascinating sight for my father and I to see, and many sacrifices were made that morning.
I ate some breakfast, packed my stuff, hid the worm farm behind a cloth and on top of a kart, and kissed my stupid parents goodbye. Of course, everyone on the bus was fascinated by my project, asking what it was. But I didn’t say a word. I just held onto it with a pokerface.
Suddenly, an idiot alarm went off in my head. Denki Kaminari went on the bus and sat right next to me. I had no clue why he constantly thought we were friends. His quirk just reminds me of the tasers my father used to punish me.
“Hey! How’s it going?! What’s that you got there?!” Denki asked.
I said nothing to him as I gripped my worm farm.
“Oh.. well my project has to do with lemons acting as batteries! Typically, a piece of zinc metal and a piece of copper are inserted into a lemon and connected by wires. Power generated by reaction of the metals is used to power a small device such uhhh... Uhh.... I forgot. Stupid, I know, but I’m sure it’ll get an A! I’m surprised you’re not saying a word to me since you absolutely love science! Did you know that I can use about three lemons to power a red lightbulb?! Crazy, huh?! Anyways I hope I get to see your science project! I bet it’s some insane mad scientist stuff!” Denki said happily, blissfully unaware that my project was kinda dark.
“Thanks.... I’m interested in yours too.” I lied drily. And he actually believed it.
“Sweet! Can’t wait to see what the rest of class 1-C is gonna bring!” Denki pumped his fist, knocking the cloth off of the worm farm. The glass nearly fell over until I caught it and grabbed the white cloth.
“Wooooaaaahhh! That’s a lot of worms! Awesome!” Denki smiled. He helped me put back the cloth.
“Um... Eh heh heh... Yeah...” I sweat nervously. Everyone else sounded grossed out, crept out, or amazed as him. It embarrassed me, and I don’t know why...
After a very awkward ride to the bus stop, we made it in front of UA highschool.
“I need some space to haul my project over to the gym. Do you mind?” I politely asked him.
“Oh, not at all!” Denki said as he got up.
I lifted the cart off of the bus and pushed it to the gym. Denki easily carried the boxes containing his lemons to the gym and we were both early. I had no clue what to expect from the science fair, but we had to keep our projects there and introduce them once the actual event transpired.
A few hours later... I walked out of the lunch room with my class. They chatted about how their projects were gonna blow people away, but I just focused on going right into the gym. I pushed past people in the crowded gym, ignoring their complaints.
I then sat next to my project and peaked under the blanket to make sure nobody touched it.
I sighed in relief, seeing that only Denki’s fingerprints were still on there. I glanced around at the other science projects. Students from Ketsubutsu Academy, Shiketsu High School, Seiai Academy, Isamu Academy, and even Seijin High School were all there displaying the best projects I’ve seen since Aizawa’s steel demonstration. I sweat nervously and took a deep breath. I took the cover off of my project, put on my gloves and mask, and heated up the chemicals in 5 separate beakers.
A bunch of popular girls from Seiai academy walked over and watched me put the worms into the beakers. Some of them quickly burnt and others survived but slowly deteriorated.
“Eewww what is that disgusting mess?! You’re literally ending their poor tiny lives!!” A girl with Bluish-lavender hair screeched. Her monocle nearly fell off.
“Yeah that is so crappy and sad! Your project is gonna suck compared to my sugar crystal one!” A girl with dark blue eyes pushed me slightly. I flinched but didn’t make a single facial expression, trying not to brainwash any of them.
“Everything eventually dies. I’m just here to demonstrate that by showing the effects of hydrochloric acid and other burning chemicals on earth worms. As you can see, the worm in the boiling water is living the longest, and the one in the acid—”
“Gross, loser! You’re gonna fail! All of our projects come from the best all girls high school in Japan! UA is for amateurs like you who think death is just something to play with! Come on, ladies...” A red head girl with glasses said, leading the four towards her project.
It was an amazingly tall model of a skyscraper in front of a Mars background. The project was called “We can live on Mars” and it looked far better than mine. It was right next to the sugar crystal project with a bunch of rock candy on display.
I sighed as I sat back down next to my project. A bunch of students walked up to my project, only to back away in disgust from the dying worms. Only the teachers inspected it carefully and wrote down notes.
Suddenly, only one student from Ketsubutsu stopped to look at my project. He didn’t appear disgusted or enraged, no...
He actually looked about as intrigued as the UA professors.
“Hey... that’s pretty interesting. What is it?” A boy with long black hair asked me. He had pale skin, a grey uniform shirt, and small slightly slanted eyes. He almost looked quite feminine.
“Nothing too big. But you might want to be careful.” I said as I put a worm in acid. It ended up shriveling up quicker than the others.
“... Beautiful.” He bellowed as his black eyes beamed.“Absolutely. I mean- if you’re into dark things like that!” I blushed.“Oh don’t get all nervous. It’s pretty cool to watch the life cycle of things. It’s better than my project...” The boy sighed.
“What’s your project?” I asked him.
“It has to do with my boomerang quirk, but... I’m sure you wouldn’t be interested in it.” He twisted his hair shyly.
“I am, now... I’ve never seen anyone else call dying bugs “Beautiful”.”
“Heh... Well you’d be surprised. I’m Itejiro Toteki. To tell the truth... I usually don’t introduce myself to people at all, but you sparked my interest.” Itejiro stuck out his hand.“Same here. Hitoshi Shinso.” I took off my glove and shook his hand. It felt cold and shaky, but kind of muscular, as if he’s been training for a long time. It reminded me of Izuku’s.
We then walked across the gym. Neito and Denki eyed us, since they weren’t used to me talking to students outside of school.
I shrugged this off not knowing they were gonna interrogate me later on...
What a fool I was...
“I saw Saiko and her girls bully you back there... I’m s-so sorry they treated you that way. They come from the wealthiest parts of Japan and they aren’t exactly nice to me either. They think my project is just a giant vibrator.” Itejiro said solemnly.
“Oh no, it’s okay. It’s not your fault. Some people are very competitive, rich or poor.” I said just as solemnly.
‘Seiko huh? I gotta scare her as soon as halloween comes...’ I thought.
We then stopped in front of a table where Itejiro’s project was.
“Here it is... It’s called Earthquakes. I know, simple name.”
“Please, mine doesn’t have a name at all.” I smirked.
“Heh. Point made.”
“So basically I made a cardboard model of a city like a 3D jigsaw puzzle. Each piece represents a tectonic plate. Simple enough, right? Now here’s what happens when I move the sticks and blocks underneath the model with my quirk...” Suddenly, Itejiro’s hands glowed purple.
The model shook and small plastic cars and buildings fell off of the puzzle pieces.
“Woah... That’s actually pretty cool.” I said dryly.
“Was that sarcasm?” Itejiro cutely tilted his head. He then put the buildings back and straightened the set up.
“No I’m dead serious I wanna see what other stuff you can put on there.” I said as I pointed at the model.
“Well I do have plastic tiny people, but that’s about it... Unless you wanna put one of your worms in the mix. I wonder if worms scream.” Itejiro smiled a bit.
“Me too... They’re probably screaming in the stuff I dunk them in.” I smiled as well, a bit too creepily.
“Oh absolutely.” He gave me the same damn creepy smile.
A match made in heaven.
“... Can I g-get your number?” I blushed.
“When we’re closer friends.” Itejiro replied as his face went back to deadpan.
My smile faded as well. “Understandable.”
“HOW THE HECK DID YOU MANAGE TO TALK TO HIM FOR SO LONG?!” Denki yelled from afar.
Yurp. He looked pretty jealous.
“Woah, Denki! Relax! I didn’t even write about your science project yet!” THIRTEEN (the safety and rescue teacher) gasped.
“Oops! Sorry, Miss THIRTEEN... So anyways I call it the Lemon Lightbulb.” Denki faced her once more.
“Is he your friend?” Itejiro asked me.
“He THINKS he’s my friend so technically... Nah.” I shrugged like Robbie Rotten.
“I see you like memes too.” Itejiro said.
“You’ve seen “We are Number One”?!”
“Yup. A thousand times.”
Then, without warning, the roof of the gym bursted open!
A bunch of villains lead by Tomura ambushed the science fair!

I missed this story
ok I found the show on Netflix. I’m just starting it now. I have a terrible time keeping Japanese anime names correct unless it’s the MCs. BUT - the thing about this so far is I understand it while still being new to it all. You my friend weird excellent 1st POV.
This is fun! I won't lie and say I know the backstory here, but your writing is very cute! I about died laughing over the nipple shockers, lmao. Did not expect that one. If I could offer a friendly tip, is just to double-check some of your formatting on Inkitt. If you do say like a copy and paste, often times the word processor on the site will either add extra spacing between paragraphs you don't need so you end up with large gaps, or conversely they'll remove a critical space and you could end up with two different POVs mashed into the same paragraph ie, two bits of dialogue in the same paragraph kind of thing. It's a system glitch usually, but I see it a lot! It happens especially if you're copying your text from another site like WP and pasting it into their format system.
