Back home
Its been 8 years since Esther left her honetown, kerala. She left to pursue her studies in food technology. Soon after which she got a job with a decent pay. But after around 5 years, she quit and came back.
As she was in the car, on the way to her home, she was taking in all the nostalgic sightings infront of her. They stopped at a tea stall to have tea and some fried snacks. She had missed all of this. Sure she had made it once or thrice but nothing beats the flavour of these fried goodness, when it is made by the street vendors..
After a while she was back home. She took a cold shower and had her dinner and was ready to get some sleep. Thats when she got a message from her friend, lyla.

Lyla: Edaaaa
I heard your back in town!! When did you come?? How are you??
Its been soo longgg!! I miss u!!
Esther: hey daaaa! I came back just today. Im great!!
Its been almost a decade, right?? We should meet sometime..
Lyla: yess! We should meet before you go back!
Esther: ohh im not going back... Im here for good!
Lyla: what!? Really?? oh my Goddd!! Thats good to hear!!
Esther: i knowww im soo happy!! I miss you guys soo muchh
Lyla: i have an off tmrw... Want to meet up??
Esther: is that even a question?? Hell yess!!!
They made up plans and decided to meet at a restaurant the next day.
The next day, at the restaurant.
Lyla: "Long time no see!"
Esther: "It's good to see you again, lyla."
Lyla: "I know, I was starting to forget your face!"
Esther : "Ha, ha. It's been a while, hasn't it?"
Lyla: "Over eight years now! How have you been?"
Esther:"Never been better... What about you?"
Lyla:.. Well.. I have some great news for you..
Esther: oh?
Lyla: im getting married next month!!!!!!
Esther: what!? Oh my god!! Im so happy for you girlieeee!!! Congrats!! Whos th-
Lyla: Michael.
Esther: mouth wide opened no fcking way!!!! Girl!! How!??!?!
Lyla: chuckling it just happened...
Esther: im so happy for you girl... Thats just wonderful... Anyways.. Have u contacted the others?
Lyla: yea.. I contacted the twins, Angel, mary... Michael contacted Arvind oh and of course alex!
Esther: Alex..? Oh.. Nice..
Lyla: what
Esther: what?
Lyla: whats with the face??
Esther: what face??
Lyla: that face!
Esther: nothing...
Lyla: do you still like him?!
Esther: what!? No!! I dont... Its just... Yk... We didnt really have the best... Farewell.
Lyla: oh come on! Its been years.. I doubt he remembers it... I mean.. Lets be honest... He didnt look like he cared that much...
Esther: true.. Chuckling... Leave that.. Wheres the wedding at?
Lyla: Goa!!
Esther: oh!!! Thats so cool!!! I mean... Damn girl... Im amazed... Im soo jealous...
Lyla: oh please... Dont be! Im sure your wedding is going to be the wedding of the century!
Esther: what makes you say that..?
Lyla: look at you! Pretty, smart, is funny... I mean isnt this a man "dream girl" or smth..
Esther: i might be the dream girl... But where the hell will i find the dream guy?? Trust me.. Im done looking for those... Id rather be single until God bless me with a beautiful stranger..
Lyla:...
Esther: what?
Lyla: nothin- mike!
Esther turns around to see michael and arvind
Michael: edi moleeee!! How are you!???
Arvind: oh look who it is!
Esther: hey guyss.. How are youu??
Michael: thats what i just asked
All of them laughed
Esther: sorry sorry! Giggling
They all had lunch 2gether and was catching up when michael's phone rang
It was Alex. Michael put it on speaker. They all started to talk. Esther was just sitting there with a slight fake smile listening to the conversation when lyla mentioned she was there. The call went silent on the other side.
Michael: hello????
Alex: i call you back later.
They all looked at each other, knowing the reason. But Arvind quickly stepped in and ligtened the mood. Esther just felt a pang of hurt. The tone of his voice made it clear he didnt want to meet her or see her.
After lunch, all of them went their separate ways. Esther was still thinking about the way he talked to her but she knew she couldnt blame him. She did hurt him afterall. She decided to let it go and walked towards the destination she was initially planning to go to. The first location of her cafe.
