Chapter 1-Killing me softly Fugees

Vampires all have a human soulmate to love, to protect, to care for. The story is long ago a man named Damien was destined to marry a beautiful witch named Val but on their wedding night she found out that he had been being unfair to the humans that he claimed he would protect, she knew she couldn't marry a cruel man and so she did what she thought would be the most helpful to the humans. She put a curse on the man she had loved to be bound to a human.

To make him pay for his ways he is forced to love a human, one of the creatures he had been using and abusing.

She also put a catch on the spell. Damien would have to wait a long time to be able to find his soulmate.

Val wanted him to learn patience and feel the loneliness that she had felt.

What she didn't know was when she cast the spell she cast it on all the vampires in the world. You see sometimes in the witches world when you cast a spell it can't be undone. That's how my story begins.

The story of me and Damien winters.

I had never imagined that someone would save me. Save me from my dad, save me from the world, save me from myself.

~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter1~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The world wasn't always like this my parents told me, there weren't always vampires running around the world making things hard for everyone, drinking human blood and ruining everything. I have no idea how they think this because vampires have been alive as far as ANYONE can remember.
With a sigh I brush my mom's hair off her sticky forehead. She is sick. Very very sick. I don't know what she is sick with but I know it's serious.
I know because my parents hushed voices at night when they thought I was sleeping. With a groan her eyes open and she looks at me. Tears form in her eyes and pain envelopes my heart.
I want to help her,more than anything in the world.
“My sweet Lily.” She croaks and her hand caresses my face. I lean my head into her hand and relax at the comfortableness of it. The sound of my dad's work boots clumping against the floor has me waiting in anticipation and my heart drops as I hear him behind me.
“Get the fuck away from her.” He snaps at me as my eyes come up to rest on his face.
“You need to stay away from her. She doesn't need some vile disgusting creature sitting next to her breathing in her air and making her situation worse.” He says and my heart drops.
Don't cry Lily, don't cry, don't give him what he wants.
I glance at my mom and she nods, silently telling me to do as I am told and move away. I stand from my place next to her and start to go to the kitchen. A whimper escapes me as a hand clamps down heavily on my arm and my eyes shoot to his face.
“You are going to make dinner now. We are going to have some company over. The man said he has a cure for my wife. If you don't cook something good and they are too disappointed and leave, I will kill you.” He snaps and squeezes my arm harder.
I nod and force a whimper back down my throat. He releases my arm and pushes me towards the kitchen. I make my way into the kitchen and glance down at my arm where there's a permanent handprint which has already started to bruise.
This is not the first occasion when my father's worry has been turned into anger and released onto me.
The very first time was when we first found out that my mother was sick. She was laying on the couch with her head propped up and couldn't stop coughing. I made the mistake of trying to bring her water.
My father smacked the cup out of my hand and it smashed to the ground. He gave me a hard slap across the face and told me to get the hell away from her.
I am relieved of my thoughts as my father clears his throat.
I shake off the pain and get out a long pan and put some chicken breasts and legs on it and season it. I bake the chicken with different seasonings. The aroma of the chicken is delightful and has my stomach grumbling with want. I make some broccoli knowing that my father will be extremely disappointed if I don't make some sort of veggie and while I am setting the table I hear a fierce knock at the front door which resounds throughout the house and reverberates through my chest.
I make my way cautiously to the door and open it.
A man much much taller than me stands before me and danger rolls off of him causing me to shiver in fear. I step back and his eyes follow me.
His eyes are blue and his hair is dark black, a strange combination but one that is somehow attractive.
“I am Damien. I'm here for your mother.”
Damiens pov
“I am Damien. I'm here for your mother.” I watch her take another step away from me and I fight a strange instinct to grab her by her waist and pull her to my chest.
Her beautiful chocolate brown eyes show the fear that I want to diminish and her beautiful auburn hair has me wanting to run my fingers through it.
It flows easily like a river would and looks like it would be as soft as silk.
She takes a step back allowing me to enter her house and I brush past her trying my very best to ignore her wonderful scent which is vanilla and strawberries but it doesn't work.
“Are you going to show me your mother or not?” I demand and regret surges through me as she flinches away from me.
I can't believe I just snapped at this girl, she already looks extremely fragile and now I have scared her.
What is wrong with me?!
“Hello damien!!” Her father says appearing from a hallway and I have to fight to roll my eyes. The man gets on my nerves and I honestly don't know why I said that I would help him.
“Why don't we sit down and eat before we get into the technicalities?” Her father says and I glance at the girl next to me.
She is so skinny she probably needs to eat anyway. “Fine.” I snap. “Follow my daughter Lily if you would. She made dinner and I'm sure you will appreciate it.” He says and looks at his daughter and she has an unreadable expression on her face as she whirls around and quickly does as he said.
I follow behind her and we land in a small dining room.
I glance at the table and there is baked chicken and broccoli. “I don't eat broccoli.” I say. He glares at his daughter and fear covers her face.
Lily's POV
My dads face is covered in anger and I take a step back. I didn't mean to mess up dinner. My heart starts thumping wildly in my chest as I stare at my father.
My dad sits down keeping his eyes on mine. “Make our guest something else to eat.” He says his voice low and filled with warning.
Damien shakes his head. “No, that's okay, let's just get this over with.” I go to sit down and flinch when a hand grips my wrist. My eyes snap up to damiens face and he glares at my arm. I panic and start tugging my arm away from him but his hold is so strong and doesn't relent.
“What happened to her?” He demands with anger seeping through his voice. He looks away from my arm to glare at my dad.
“Oh she was being a nuisance to her mother. She was sitting next to her mother keeping her awake.” My dad says nonchalantly.
Damien drags me to stand next to him. “Where the hell is your wife? I am getting this shit over with.” He snaps and my dad tells him that she is in the first door on the right.
Damien grabs a plate and slaps two chicken breasts on it and grabs a spoon and throws some broccoli on the plate as well.
He sets the plate on the table and grabs me by the waist and sets me in a chair. He hands me a fork and turns to my dad. “You and I are going to fix your wife while she eats. Let's go. You touch her on the way out of here and I will rip your arms off and shove them down your throat.” He snaps and I shiver.
Damien and my dad leave and I take a few bites of chicken. I don't want to accidentally make Damien mad besides I'm already in trouble with my dad which is extremely bad for me.
I scarf down my chicken as quickly as possible without even tasting it because I am in such a rush and start to work on the broccoli when Damien reappears with my dad right behind him. My dad is smiling and Damien glances down at my plate. “Are you still hungry?” He asks me and I shake my head.
He goes to the cupboard and searches through it to find some pop tarts. He hands them to me and I look down at them completely confused, he ignores me and grabs the fuzzy blanket that was on the back of the couch.
What is he doing? Why is he grabbing all of this random stuff? He comes over to me and stands behind my chair making it hard for me to swallow my last bite of broccoli, he sets the blanket on the table next to me.
“Stand up.” He says and I do. I stand on wobbly legs and feel his daunting presence behind me. He picks me up with ease and I gasp. What is he doing?!
“Hey woah Damien what are you doing?” My dad demands loudly and I keep my gaze averted from his not knowing what to do.
“We both know you have no way you can pay me back. You have no money and nothing else that I want you are hurting this girl and I am taking her with me. If you try to stop me I will kill you and your wife that I just saved. Try and stop me James I dare you.” He snaps and I shiver.
“Hand me that blanket on the table James.” He says and my dad stares at him.
Damiens pov
James stands there and stares at me with that stupid look on his face. I dare him to defy me. I am the vampire king. The original vampire. I could kill him quite easily.
I wouldn't even have to do too much either. Nobody would miss this piece of garbage either. James steps forward and grabs the blanket and goes to hand it to me.
“Cover her up.” I snap and he looks at his daughter. He drapes the blanket over her and she looks up at me. Her beautiful brown eyes stare into mine with curiosity and I can tell she doesn't want to leave her father.
I know she is afraid. She probably thinks I am going to take her away and when she gets on my nerves I send her back to her father, Lord knows that would be a terrible idea.
He would kill her. The thought of anyone laying a finger on her has anger rushing through me. I hold her as gingerly as possible and glare at her father. “Put the pop tarts on her lap.” I demand and he does as I say. He sets them on her lap and steps away from her.
I glance down once again at the girl in my arms and I sigh as I walk back into the living room and to the front door. I am not going to bother setting her down to open it and I am for sure not going to talk to her father again. He is lucky I am leaving without killing him.
With a shrug I kick the door down. The girl in my arms starts shaking and I glance down at her. It is freezing outside but I know that is not why she is shaking.
“The trip is going to be a day long.” I say as I put her into my mustang. I could have brought the Porsche but I wasnt thinking I was going to be bringing anyone back with me. I shut the door behind her and climb in the driver's side and start the car. I turn the heat on and she slowly relaxes.
“For right now if you get hungry or just crave something you can eat the pop tarts.” I say and she doesn't reply.
I start driving wanting to get her home as soon as possible.
