Chapter 1 Angel Mashiro

For a man named Makoto Nonaka, the village of Yokokura was an ordinary countryside that existed everywhere.

Therefore, Makoto had never been involved in Yokokura village in his life, nor had he ever thought of being involved in it.

Naturally, Makoto did not know the history of Yokokura village, its famous products, or even the name of the mountain he could see from the window.

However, he still decided to move to Yokokura village and live there for the rest of his life because the woman he loved was from there.

She was weak and could not live in a city with dirty air, but Yokokura village was a safe place to live.

That is why Makoto rejected many offers and decided to work at a junior high school near Yokokura village.

Fortunately, there were no young teachers at the school, and the fact that the job was almost confirmed at the interview stage was also a decisive factor.

Then, overcoming many objections, Makoto proposed to Yuko, his girlfriend of nearly six years, and they moved to Yokokura Village together.

Living in the unfamiliar countryside gave Makoto many hardships, but he integrated into the village with his natural cheerful and soft personality, and six months later, he was accepted as if he had been born and raised in Yokokura Village.

Makoto, who had been good-natured since birth, had been contracted to lock the junior high school, which was not that big, and even that day he checked the keys of each classroom, telling the remaining students to go home properly.

Come on. It's almost time. Let's go home before it gets dark.

Uh. Nonaka Sensei! WAIT A MINUTE...

Is there any problem?

You know what? I forgot my homework, so I was told to do it at school.

Math. Is that Dr. Fujima? Then I'll tell Dr. Fujima. It's late. Please study at home and bring it back tomorrow.

Okay?

Yes. Don't forget this time.

Okay! Then I'm going home! See you again, mister!

Yes. See you tomorrow. Be careful when you go home.

He also sent the students who had stayed to study home, and Makoto checked each classroom and locked it.

By now, the sun from the window had turned red and was about to fall behind a high mountain.

Slowly, darkness would take over the area.

Teacher! Bye!

Nonaka Sensei! See you tomorrow!

Good-bye. See you tomorrow. Be careful when you go home.

However, Makoto loved this time so much that he didn't plan to work too early.

Because at the end of the day, he likes to see the kids go home with smiles on their faces.

And after locking all the classrooms and finally locking the staff room, Makoto walked down the red-stained hallway to go home from now on.

All the teachers and students have already gone home, and Makoto is the only one left.

The wooden hallway makes a sound every time you walk, but Makoto's footsteps are the only ones you can hear.

Silence.

......

Hmm?

Suddenly something caught Makoto's ear in the silence, and Makoto hurried in that direction.

I thought maybe there was someone left.

I must have checked everything, but it would be terrible if there were children left before the front door was closed.

Makoto walked toward the place at a brisk pace, considering that the sun was going to go down and that he would drive them there at the worst.

Makoto narrowed his eyes when he found the place.

A classroom window was open.

The wind from outside was shaking the white curtain, and under it some sort of figure could be seen.

Makoto, hastily unlocking the door, went in and called out to the figure.

Are you all right? You ......

Who?

I am a teacher at this Yokokura junior high school. My name is Makoto Nonaka.

Good morning. Nakanaka Makoto

The girl Makoto spoke to seemed to have a lisp and was muttering, repeating Makoto's words.

Her appearance gives the impression of a young child, but she looks like a middle school girl.

Her skin, however, is morbidly white, and her clothes look somewhat out of this world, perhaps because she is wearing a clean white dress.

The most extraordinary thing is that the lock of this classroom is securely locked.

When Makoto locks the key of the classroom, he firmly checks inside to make sure that there is no one left and then closes it.

Then it is impossible for this girl to enter and it is strange that the window is open in the first place.

Even if the window were not locked, this is the second floor.

There is no place for hands, and it would be impossible for a normal person to enter.

How did you get in here?

Me? I flew into this room.

Did it fly?

Yes. Like this.

The girl stood up as she spoke, and grew large wings on her back.

Her wings, unlike those of a bird that flies in the firmament, were shining silver, and she flapped them slowly and widely.

At that moment the wind blew through the classroom, and the silver wings, separated from the wings, danced in the air.

Oh, I see! I understand. Please get off.

Yes,

At Makoto's words, the girl slowly landed on the floor and put her wings straight on her back.

Then he looks up at Makoto and smiles.

Makoto sensed the air of praise and smiles at the girl and says, "That's amazing."

Then, after restoring the ruined classroom, Makoto thought about what to do with the girl and decided to ask a few questions.

Where are you from?

Uh huh. Over there!

The girl pointed to several houses and a large mountain.

But nothing more was known.

Do you know where your house is?

Home? I'm not sure where my house is. But there were a lot of friends in the room, including bears, deer, and giraffes.

...... well,

Makoto had thought, as far as he had heard, that it was something like a zoo, but there was no such place, at least not in this village.

But since she could fly, Makoto concluded that she might have come from somewhere far away.

Then, yes. Could you tell me your name?

Name. Is it ......? I don't know.

Well,

Makoto struggled with the girl's answer.

It would be difficult to find the place where you came if you didn't know the name even if you tried to report it to the police.

No, she's not a normal child in the first place.

She has bright white wings on her back.

Have you any family?

Family ......? Oh, my brother was there.

My brother?

Yes. A very gentle and very strong brother.

Where is he now?

My brother had to say goodbye to Mashiro because he became an angel. I'm gonna miss you when we're together.

Mashiro. is that

Mashiro? Mashiro is Mashiro's name! Mashiro says Mashiro!

I see. Mr. Mashiro. Is Mashiro from over that mountain?

There is so little information.

I found out that I don't know the information I got now.

But even so, there is no real option to leave it.

Therefore, Makoto was thinking of informing the police about the girl.

However, the girl crouched there as if she didn't know about Makoto's situation.

What happened? Mashiro!

...... Eh.

I'm sorry. I can't hear you well, could you tell me again?

I'm hungry.

His words were released with a faint voice, and Makoto, calming down, hastily closed the window and put the girl on his back and closed the classroom.

Then he went to the staff room and called home.

While thanking Yuko for taking almost no time to answer the phone, Makoto explained that it was a school.

Then, he asked if it was okay to take her home, and after receiving approval, he contacted the police near his home.

He explained that it was also a school, and his voice seemed to be doubting what Makoto said, but they believed him, so they had to meet him at home.

At this point, Mashiro could not move, probably because he was hungry, and he leaned back in his chair and groaned, but he asked for a little more patience, so he checked all the locks on the second and first floors with Mashiro on his back, closed the entrance, and went to the car.

He put Mashiro in the passenger seat, and left the already dark school and drove home.
