The Beginning

Alexandra (Alex) Thompson

"Hi, I'm Alexander, but I prefer to be called Alex. My life has been turned upside down lately. A month ago, my parents got divorced, and my mom and I had to move to a new town. It's been tough adjusting to a new home, new school, and a new life without my dad. The truth is, my dad's drinking and gambling problems drove my mom to leave him. I'm still trying to come to terms with it all. I miss my dad, but I'm also angry with him for not being the father I needed him to be. Now, it's just me and my mom starting over, trying to build a new life together."

"My mom is an incredibly hardworking woman. She works as a cleaning lady at Grey's Corporation Group, but the money isn't enough. She has to pay my tuition fees and provide for both of us, which is a constant struggle. I feel guilty for adding to her burden, but she insists on giving me the best possible future. Despite her exhaustion and stress, she always finds a way to make me feel loved and supported. I'm grateful for her selflessness and determination.

"I'm currently in my 4th year at University, studying Marketing and Administration. I'm working hard to obtain my degree, but it's tough to focus when I see my mom struggling. I want to help her out, get a part-time job, and contribute to our household income. But every time I mention it, she tells me to focus on school, that my education is the key to a better future. I know she's right, but it's hard to ignore the guilt and responsibility I feel towards her.

"In three months, I'll be turning 20, and it's going to be the first birthday I'll be celebrating without my dad. It's a painful reminder that things will never be the same again. I'm trying to stay strong for my mom, but it's hard to pretend that everything is okay when it's not. I'm scared, uncertain, and still trying to figure out who I am without my dad by my side."

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
