Chapter 1
Things were hectic in the Walsh household that June morning. Ever since Janice Walsh left her husband and her son that stormy night just after they returned from the spring break excursion, she hadn’t returned back home. Naturally, her husband, Pete, and her son, Robbie, were living as a proper couple… behind closed doors, of course. It’s not because they were related (Pete was only Robbie’s step-father after all), but because they didn’t know how the neighbors would react to their illicit affair and unorthodox relationship.
Not that all the neighbors minded. In fact, their next door neighbor, Joe, sometimes joined in the kinky sex games that went on between the step-father and the step-son, but ever since his wife returned from Venezuela, he hadn’t had the time to do it as often as he wanted to. Pete and Robbie weren’t complaining at all.
For the first few weeks, they lived in trepidation and acted and behaved the same way as if Janice and Pete’s daughter, Robbie’s step-sister, Ronnie, were still living with them. Not knowing exactly what Janice had said to her parents and Ronnie about why she left in such manner, Pete and Robbie felt uneasy. But after Ronnie said that she would not be coming back and she would finish her junior year down in Florida, and Janice was unresponsive to Pete’s calls and text messages, Pete and Robbie moved into the master bedroom and started living like a proper couple.
That’s why, that bright and sunny June morning, they both jumped as if electrocuted when the front door opened and then slammed closed.
“Shit,” said Robbie and he was out of his mom and step-dad’s marital bed faster than he said the word. Of course, he was completely naked, as was his father. Pete was a little more calm getting out of bed, but he was also confused, as if he didn’t know what to expect.
“Dad? Robbie?”
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” whispered Robbie, now in complete panic mode. “It’s Ronnie! What do we do?!”
“Just go and hide into the bathroom,” snapped Pete. “Hurry!”
“Is there anyone at home?”
“In here, Ronnie!” called Pete as soon as he was done putting his bottom pajamas on and a tank top that he found laying on the ground. “I’m just now waking up.”
Robbie was hiding behind the bathroom door, trying not to breathe, as Ronnie showed up at the master bedroom door and leaned on the door frame.
“Dad, why are you still in bed? Doesn’t the ceremony start in like an hour and a half?”
“What cerem… Holy shit! Robbie’s graduation!”
“Duh!” said Ronnie. “Where is he, anyways? I can go wake him up.”
“No, I can do that,” said Pete. “How are you sweetheart? I’ve missed you.”
Ronnie allowed her father to give her a hug, and she even returned it, albeit half-heartedly. “I’ve missed you too, but I didn’t miss Pennsylvania, to be honest with you.”
“Why didn’t you tell us you were coming? We could’ve picked you up from the airport.”
“Mom gave me her credit card to use, so I called an Uber. I wanted to surprise Robbie for his graduation.”
“Well, you go get ready, and I’ll fetch Robbie and then we can all go together.”
“Fetch him?” Ronnie raised her eyebrows. “Are you all right, dad? Are you turning in Gretchen from Mean Girls?”
“Who?”
“Never mind, I’ll go get ready.”
Robbie’s heart clenched. He wanted to ask his step-sister if his mom would be joining them, but if she gave her step-daughter her card, it didn’t sound very likely. As he was trying to calm down the wild hammering in his chest, Pete’s head poked into the bathroom.
“Fuck Robbie, we overslept for your graduation. Quickly now, go get ready!”
Not even thirty minutes later, they were all sitting in Pete’s BMW, on their way to Robbie’s high school graduation.
“So, how’ve you been, nerd?” asked Ronnie. She was sitting in the passenger seat right next to her father, and Robbie was sitting in the back, wearing the graduation gown, while fidgeting with his cap in his hands.
“Missed your face too, blight,” said Robbie, and he smiled at his sister.
“Don’t call your sister that,” warned Pete, mostly out of principle.
“Is mom coming to the graduation?” asked Robbie, trying to sound as nonchalantly as possible, and looking anywhere but Ronnie’s face.
“No,” said Ronnie. “She’s not.”
An awkward silence descended over them as they were approaching the high school. Parking was a mess, but at least there were some volunteers that were guiding them.
“Listen, Robbie,” said Ronnie and she turned around to face her brother on the back seat. “She will come around, okay? And I just wanted you to know that… I love you.”
Robbie didn’t dare ask how much of what happened his sister knew, but he still flushed when he remembered that it was his sister’s ex that he was having sex with on the tape that his mother saw, which literally drove her out of the house. He felt sort of guilty for fucking Brandon, who was Ronnie’s ex-boyfriend, but at least at the time they were broken up. Mixed feelings of gratitude for the love that Ronnie expressed towards him and the guilt he felt flooded his heart, but he still smiled at his sister. Pete finally parked. Mr. Robinson spotted Robbie coming out of the car with his dad and sister, and started yelling at him that he was supposed to be on the opposite side of the school, not here with the guests and rushed him into the high school, shaking his head the entire time, muttering under his breath.
“Walsh!”
As soon as Robbie found himself in the gym, he was crushed by his two best friends, Jayden and Kevin, who were hugging him like they were trying to squeeze the life out of him.
“Can you believe it we made it?” asked Jayden, who couldn’t help himself by smile broadly. He looked so handsome in the graduation gown, and all Robbie wanted to do in that moment was kiss his friend, tongue at all, right there in front of everyone, but he didn’t of course, because he didn’t want to be the scandal of the day.
“We have to celebrate tonight,” said Kevin, who looked like he had gained at least five pounds of pure muscle in the week since Robbie last saw him, was also beaming almost as much as Jayden was.
“Of course, we definitely will, bro,” said Robbie. He wanted to kiss Kevin as well, but he tried to think of other things instead. Robbie had already had sex with both Jayden and Kevin during spring break, but no one knew or talked about it ever since they returned home to Pittsburgh. Robbie felt a bit guilty for not spending as much time with his friends out of school as he used to before they went to spring break, but it looked like Jayden and Kevin were also okay with that, but they still rode to school together and ate together during lunchtime.
“Is Pete going to be joining us?” asked Jayden and winked. Robbie blushed lightly, not expecting this at all. After all, Jayden fucked Robbie’s dad last spring break and with the tone of voice he used, Robbie thought that one of his best friends was wanting to do it again.
“He most definitely will,” said Robbie, hoping his voice sounded normal. “And so will probably my sister.”
“Ronnie’s back?” Kevin said immediately. Robbie wasn’t sure, but he suspected that Kevin always had a low-key crush on his step-sister.
“Yeah, flew in just this morning, for graduation,” said Robbie and suddenly he sighed heavily. His mom’s absence was weighing down on him more than he cared to admit, even in front of his two best friends.
Jayden and Kevin were all up to date with what happened with Janice and the sex video of Robbie, Brandon, Kyle and Chad, so Robbie really appreciated that they didn’t bring up his mother at all.
Soon after that, the ceremony began, they were told in which order to line up and where to sit. By the time Principal Allan read all the students through the letter ‘W’ Robbie was beyond bored and, as he usually was lately, horny beyond belief, especially since he didn’t get to get off with his dad this morning because of the way they were interrupted by Ronnie.
Finally, he was called up there, he picked up his diploma, waited for the last few suffering souls to be called up so they can go pick up their diplomas too, and then all the graduation caps were up in the air, and the entire audience of parents, friends and family ascended upon the new graduates to congratulate them on this significant milestone.
Pete congratulated his son, as well as Jayden and Kevin, and also some other classmates of Robbie’s that he remembered from the past four years, but he tried to avoid talking to Jayden’s and Kevin’s parents, so he excused himself saying that he had to take an important phone call.
“Where to now?” asked Kevin.
“That’s the big question, isn’t it?” noted Jayden.
“Jayden, you have to come home first, do you hear me?” said sternly Mrs. Moore, Jayden’s mother. “The family is expecting you at the party we’ve all be working very hard on in your honor.”
“I didn’t ask you to do that,” said Jayden, but one electric look from Mrs. Moore and he changed his face completely. “But, of course, I’ll be there.”
“I have to go and do a stupid party thing or whatever as well,” said Kevin matter-of-factly, as if he wasn’t bursting with happiness that they were throwing something in his honor at his house. Kevin’s step-father was a hard-ass and very strict where Kevin was concerned. “Some of my relatives, y’know?”
“It’s better if we met up for dinner, anyway,” said Robbie.
“I can pick you Jayden after my relatives leave, and then we can come get you and Mr. Walsh,” offered Kevin.
“He likes us to call him Pete, Kev,” corrected Jayden. “But I’m cool with that plan. How does eight sound?”
After they all agreed on the time, they bid each other goodbye. Jayden left with his family, and Kevin went to go find his mom and step-dad. Robbie turned around, looking for Ronnie, but his sister was nowhere around him. He wondered when and where she went off to just like that, but he figured she will have to come to the car, so he went to find his dad.
People were coming and going, and Robbie politely greeted and congratulated some of his classmates as he was making his way to the car in the parking lot. As soon as he was out of the school, he figured he would go straight through the front entrance of the school, instead of going all the way around. He turned into a corridor, and then another.
He froze in his tracks. There was Ronnie, and her arms were thrown over the broad shoulders of someone waring the same graduation gown like the one Robbie had on. They were kissing. Robbie couldn’t believe his eyes.
“Ronnie?”
The kiss broke, and Robbie’s worst nightmares were confirmed when his sister and Brandon Hammer, both stared at him. Ronnie was flushed, obviously embarrassed to be caught in such a predicament by her step-brother.
“Robbie!”
Brandon, at first, looked very confused, but soon enough his lips curved into a naughty smirk, and then he winked at Robbie.
“What’s up, Walsh?”
