Shoes
"I've never seen a pair of shoes that shape to the foot like yours,” she said at the dining room table in her neighbor's house. “Are they a sandal?” she asked the woman.
“Shoes?” The neighbor laughed. “These ain’t shoes” She licked her dirty thumb into a less dirty thumb, and with as much gumption she could muster, she pressed down and across the bottom of her foot. She held up her now pitch black thumb and laughed even louder.

Hi ajcarbide,
I just finished reading your story Very Short Stories and I loved it so much. Your writing is amazing, and I kept thinking how cool it would look as a comic.
I really loved the scene in Chapter 1, "Shoes," where the neighbor humorously reveals her unconventional footwear. The vivid imagery and the unexpected twist make it ideal for a comic adaptation, capturing both the humor and the surprise visually.
Another standout moment is in Chapter 16, "The Writings of Tracy Smith," where the protagonist reflects on personal experiences through writing. This introspective scene would translate beautifully into a manga, allowing readers to connect deeply with the character's emotions.
I’m a commissioned artist, and I’d love to draw your story into a comic/manga. No pressure though, I just think your work would look awesome in comic form.
