Chapter 1

I wake up in a cold sweat. I’m in a haze as my alarm clock beeps.

I drag myself out of bed. I keep getting the same nightmare over and over again. It seems my brain is trying to tell me something but I can’t help but enjoy it.

I see flashes of a face and an inexplicable feeling of terror yet attraction. Every time I think about it, I can’t help but obsess with the man in my dreams, as delusional I may be.

The brain is incapable of creating new faces meaning, that he exists and I’ve seen him somewhere before. If I could only remember where…

I drag myself into the bathroom and brush my teeth. Amber walks in.

« Don’t tell me you haven’t been sleeping again. » she says, looking slightly concerned.

I roll my eyes. « Please you know I can’t help it »

I walk out and quickly started changed. I have class in ten minutes and I overslept. And I absolutely cannot be late for class.

I got into Yale with a scholarship about 2 months ago, and my classes are finally starting today.

I moved into my dorm (Which was so generously included in my scholarship) about a week ago.

There are quite a few problems here.

For example, the hot water is inconsistent, meaning we try to shower at less popular times.

When we first got in, me and Amber found a dead rat under the table, and there’s only one room, which meant me and Amber had to share a bed, not to mention the wood frame of said bed, was rotting, the small and consistent cracks all over our walls, the chipping paint, the loud music from other rooms at night and much more.

Thank god I got a rich roommate!

She’s a little bit bratty but overall tolerable. If t wasn’t for her, we would have been living in those horrible conditions.

Thanks to daddy’s money, she hired an exterminator, and thanks to that we never saw a rat again, replaced the bed with 2 twin beds, got us new furniture, hired people to repaint the walls, and improving our living conditions overall, drastically.

While she didn’t do it out of kindness for me, and merely for her personal comfort, I’m still grateful nonetheless, and try to keep my temper and messy habits under wraps around her. I’m sure she knows this, but doesn’t really take advantage of it too much. I respect her for that.

While I still think Amber is a brat and I don’t like her that much I still have respect and appreciation towards her, so I try not to pick fights and while she gets her way a lot, we both still benefit from this.

Yesterday we decided to get lunch to get to know each other better, and when she noticed I had trouble paying for my side, she offered to pay and an offer.

She told me her father wouldn’t let her bring a maid over to help with cleaning (Apparently she has never cleaned in her life) she asked that I do all the cleaning around the dorm, and she would pay for my food and some of my expenses in my dorm.

It was pretty much a win-win situation for us, but I had a minor issue. I had university classes here, and a part-time job, which I overworked far too often.

When I expressed my concern she laughed. Because my basic expenses would be taken care of I didn’t need to work, and I wouldn’t have to worry about my tuition due to my scholarship.

She said she would help me out more, because she thought it was silly that people tried to work and study at a prestigious university at the same time.

While I agreed, I was simmering on the inside as I internally felt a rush of envy as some of us had no choice where Miss Rich Dad over here probably never had to do any physical labor in her life.

I worked my butt off to be here, with my scholarship, barely making ends meet.

I’ve struggled so much to be here, which is another thing I resent about her.

But I accepted her deal, because it’s true I would probably need to focus on my studying more here, and I would need more time to finish my assignments.

After I quit my job, it was kind of nice, not needing to rush everything, always working towards a deadline.

I had breaks in between now which helped tremendously with the stress I’ve been dealing with these past few years.

Wether I like Amber or not, doesn’t change the fact that she helped me, when she easily could have decided not to, even though she barely has to raise a finger, daddy’s money and all.

So I do have a sense of appreciation and respect even though I do resent her a bit. Not everyone in her position would have done the same.

I quickly jump into some jeans and a black tank top. I quickly throw on a beige sweater, because September’s here can be chilly. The jeans keeps sagging a bit, so I grab a leather belt with a gold clasp to keep it up.

To complete the look I put on my favorite gold necklace. My mom gave it to me before she passed away. It was a thin gold chain, with a diamond pendant, shaped like a star. There is a thin gold lining which holds the pendant to the chain of the necklace.

It’s so delicate and simple yet gorgeous. Like my mom. She used to wear it all the time.

I look at the time and I only have five minutes left, so I quickly tie my hair up with a black scrunchie. Because of my rush, some of my overgrown bangs were already loose, but I didn’t have time to fix it.

I tossed everything I need into my bag, grab my keys off the counter and fly out the door.

« Amber! Lock the door ‘kay? » I shout behind me.

I’m satisfied when I hear the click of the lock and I run off. I don’t have a car and it’s about a five minute walk to my campus.

When we went for our tours last week, Amber drove me there every time, but her classes are later today, and she’s not exactly a morning bird.

I run, and sigh in frustration. I’ve been entirely to dependent on Amber.

While it’s understandable, considering she pays for most of my expenses, but man what I would do to have a car!

I guess some people just have it good. Ah well. At least she drives me places when she can.

I fly into the building of my class and crash face first into someone’s chest when I slide around the corner.

I hit my head against someone’s (very solid) chest, and fall backwards, onto the floor. My bag flies off beside me.

Owwww! My head is throbbing at this point. My eyes are squeezed shut as I rub my forehead. God, that hurt.

Realizing that I crashed into someone, I look up and start apologizing, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you there, I was just running to class, I’m probably going to be late-” I ramble, not really looking at him. I’m rather embarrassed that something like this happened on my first day.

I see a hand in front of me, offering almost, in the middle of my rambling.

“Well don’t let me keep you.” He says in a deep voice, sounding very amused by the whole thing.

While I’m glad he isn’t mad it still irritates me a bit. Regardless I push my pride aside, and grab his hand. As he pulls me up, I look into his eyes and let go from shock. Well, shit.

It’s Mister Dream Guy.
