First & Last
"Six, seven, eight, nine? You got nine rejections in a row!" With a slight shock on her face.
The man who sat opposite her seemed embarrassed by the fact, scratching his head awkwardly as he looked around. Thankfully, there were just two of them there. He could have gotten embarrassed because that girl said it out loud.
"Well, okay, six of them that I went on a date with, one of them, I didn't really like" He trying to make an excuse.
She laughed.
"Come on, you said you wouldn't laugh?" He's complaining.
"But still, nine is a lot" she repeated with a broad grin.
"I know, I know, but at least I tried" he said and the young lady could hear the disappointment in the man's voice. He breathes slowly.
"Not everyone is lucky in that sort of thing, you know..." said the eldest, looking the girl in the eye.
"However, what about you? How many men have you dated before?" He then took revenge by asking the same question, as he did not want to lose.
"HEY! That's personal okay! We just met," crossed her hand, side by side, and pretended to sound angry.
"Come on..We had a deal,We talked about this. I say it to you and you say it to me. So, how many?" He asked again, his hand laid upon the table while showing his serious face as a police officer questioning criminals.
"All right, all right," she finally gave up.
"Just... One...". She took a one-second break, and then she finished speaking.
"Seriously? Just one? " The other was kind of a little surprise. Well, he never thought the girl had only been out with a guy before.
"Hey! What's that supposed to mean? " The girl gave him a death glare.
"No, no, it's not like that... I mean, look at you... You you you ugh... It's hard to believe you've only been with one guy." He cut some of his words because he was so shy about saying it.
"You what?" asked the girl, her face was slightly confused.
"Urmmm" scratching his nape shyly. "Y-you beautiful, so beautiful" His ears were red with embarrassment.
"Really? Do you think I'm beautiful? " She then laughed a little. Her cheeks felt hot. "But.. I think beauty is not enough to make him stay." Her smile fades slowly. She smiled, but her face was filled with disappointment and sadness.
"I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to...."
"He was great, we were great. We had so much going on for the both of us and I guess......" She breathed out.
"One-day things changed. He could no longer bear it," she went on with a forced smile on her face.
"I-I am sorry" He feels guilty.
"It's okay. You don't have to be. It's all in the past." Her tone changed to cheer one.
"I had so much fun today," she told the older with a cheerful voice.
"Yes, me too," he replied with a smile.
For a moment, they didn't say anything, they just feel the wind.
"Ehhmm," he pretended to cough to break the silence. "I'm sorry it started a bit awkward, this is the first time I was on a blind date. To be honest, I was kind of nervous" He told shyly. He sensed that his ears were hot probably because he was embarrassed. Thankfully, his date partner didn't see that.
"Well, that's not that bad. At least this date doesn't end tragically," she said, straightening her hair, which was a bit messy due to the wind. "Honestly, I was very touched because you're staying until now," She said with a sweet smile. "What are you saying?" asked the dark-haired man. His eyebrows furrowed. "Oh, that, my previous date was full of drama." The girl laughed at the memory of her previous date. The young man's smile vanished right away. He seemed to understand what the partner meant. "Don't give me that look. It's just an old story and I don't think about it anymore" She frowned, crossed her arms on her chest.
The young man did not speak at all. Maybe he was surprised to see how easily the girl reads him. "Ppfffff... Don't be too serious. I'm just kidding" The girl couldn't help but laugh. Again, the young man's face was turning more red, no, he wasn't angry. "Hey, don't joke like that, I almost feel like cursing the man who hurt your heart," he whining, because the girl couldn't stop laughing.
"Yah! I already said I was only been in a blind date once did you forget it already? Oh my god I can't believe you fall for it" said the younger laughing hard.
"Hahaha, you have to see you look in the mirror, it must be very funny, isn't it?" said the girl with a bit of mockery. No anger or discouragement, even the young man laughed at them for being ridiculous. Without her knowing it, the man was amazed by the sight before him. It was so beautiful that made his heart beat like crazy. He tapped his chest slowly trying to relax.
"I'm starting to see how you manage nine in a row". Suddenly the girl returned to talk about their previous talks while sipping her green tea slowly.
"Hey! Come on don't do this to me" He whined. "Cut me some slack, alright? You know dates just get me all nervous, I mean don't you feel that? Like... Every time you're on a date, you just feel like you're constantly being judged, on how you dress, how you look, do you hold the door? Do you pull the chair?" Said the man pretending to be upset.
"Well, I'm judging you alright" she replies quickly. "And..... I think you are scoring pretty well" She smiles brightly. "No, seriously, I can see it that... You know you're a cool guy and... Kind of a gentleman and even you give the waiter a big tip" She continued.
"You could tell!?" said the man who seemed completely shocked.
"Yeah! I could hear the joy of his voice once he got the bill" the younger replied smiling beautifully.
"Well, it looks like he's having a very bad day. I hope it can help ease his burden" He drank his latte while looking the other way to avoid the girl's gaze.
"You are very kind. To tell you the truth, I'm very comfortable with you. You are like someone, emmm someone? friend? Family? That I never had" She smiled. Her eyes were shining. Each word that came out of her lips seemed to have a very deep implicit meaning. Now he began to wonder whether the girl in front of him was really kidding about her previous date.
And again silence dominates.
He looked at the girl in front of him and a wide smile flashed on his face. "Ah, Damn, my heart" he said in his heart. He made up his mind and he was sure he would not regret it.
He adjusted his seated posture and sighed with relief. And once more, he smiles with confidence.
"So.....Mmmmm do you wanna help me end my streak?" He asked nervously. His heart was racing.
"Are you asking me out again?" the girl asked, her eyebrows raised while showing the face "Are you serious?" But then she laughed a little.
"Yes... I-I mean, if I do ten rejections in a row, all my bros will make a big celebration" He laughed, remembering how all his five bestfriends joked about his nine failed relationships. "Wait, that's not what I want to say," he murmured "Why am I so nervous" without the young man realizing that he was really saying it out loud instead of saying it in his heart.
Enough for someone close to him to hear, and the girl who heard the talk earlier laughed in her heart and pretended not to hear it.
"Very sweet," she said slowly, and yes the young man did not hear it as he was still struggling with himself who was nervous.
"All right, I think nine..... Long enough?" with the sentence the older immediately stopped anything in his mind. He seemed very surprised by the response. He thought he was going to be rejected again.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Shin Hoseok" said the girl. Her smile was so charming that the man named Hoseok was again stunned by her beauty.
"Happy Valentine's Day too, Chae Hyungwon" Hoseok truly admires the beauty of the god's creation which now sits before him. Hoseok's heart that had been beating fast began to calm down, he almost thought maybe he would have a heart attack. To be honest, his heart never reacted this way at his previous date.
Very peaceful, it's what Hoseok and Hyungwon are feeling right now. The soft breeze increases the comfort around them. Choosing to date outdoor turns out to be greater pleasant, thanks to Minhyuk for the idea, hopefully it does not rain. This is probably what Hoseok is currently thinking about.
"Ummm can I walk you home?" Hoseok asks timidly, hoping that Hyungwon did not reject it.
Hyungwon did not answer Hoseok's question but timidly replaced it with a slight nod, her cheeks were red. Hoseok who saw the situation was unable to resist a big smile, he feels happy. Upon seeing the green light, Hoseok slowly made his way to Hyungwon and held Hyungwon's hand to help her. Hyungwon felt Hoseok's presence rise slowly, her other hand on the dining table grabbing her stuff. Sensing the things she was looking for in her hands, she put them slowly. That was her sunglasses.
"Here". Hoseok said, handling something to Hyungwon. Hyungwon who felt the object touch her hand and took it with a big smile on her face.
A walking stick.
Yes, you are right.
She can't see. In other words, Hyungwon is blind.
Slowly they both walked and left the table. The pair walk side by side while Hoseok holds Hyungwon's hand. "Hyungwon ssi, can I say something c-crazy?" Hoseok stuttered. "How crazy is that to make you stutter Hoseok ssi?" Hyungwon laughed a bit
Suddenly Hoseok stopped walking and turned to face Hyungwon. Both his hands were on Hyungwon's shoulders. He took off Hyungwon's sunglasses and looked straight into her big beautiful eyes. He then took a deep breath and continued his words.
"It may be going too fast, we just met, and it's been less than 2 hours, but I can't lie to myself. I feel something in here" Hoseok held Hyungwon's hand and placed it toward his heart. "Do you feel that? My heart is pounding like crazy. I thought I was having a heart attack," Hoseok laughed. "If it was a heart attack, I'd be dead by now. But, the way I feel right now, it's a life. My heart beats whenever our eyes meet, like a thousand butterflies flying through my stomach. This may sound silly, but I feel like I found something that was lost in my life. You are the cause of this uncontrollable heartbeat," said Hoseok, holding Hyungwon's hands on his chest.
"I think I... I fall in love with you" Hoseok blushes timidly by acknowledging his feelings to Hyungwon.
"Chae Hyungwon, will you let me know you better?" Give me a chance to fill this void. Maybe I can be a cure for the wounds that have not healed in your heart. I know words alone cannot prove that, so with this, I hope you believe in me. Give me a chance, I'm only asking for a chance and not two. Allow me to come into your heart, allow me to be with you, allow me to be your eyes" Hoseok closed his eyes as he expressed everything that was in his heart.
Hyungwon wanted to say something, but she didn't get a chance because Hoseok cut her up first.
"You don't have to answer it now. If you still have doubts about your heart, it's all right, I understand that" Hoseok smiles while holding Hyungwon's hand. "I will wait until you are ready. Why don't we start from zero. Let me introduce myself again, Hello, my name is Shin Hoseok, you may call me Wonho. Hmmm you might as well call me mine" Hoseok said jokingly while shaking their hands.
Hyungwon couldn't help but laugh. This guy is really something. Hyungwon lowered her gaze, her eyes suddenly felt hot, for some reason Hoseok's words had just touched Hyungwon heart. She tried to hold back the tears, but she lost them, the tears left without being asked. Although she could not directly see the man who had just confessed his feelings to her, even if she did not know how Hoseok looked like, strangely she could feel the sincerity of every word that came out of his lips. And Hyungwon, she could feel the beats, it was as insane as she felt when her hand was on Hoseok's chest exactly where his heart was beating. But this time the uncontrollable heartbeat she felt did not come from Hoseok, but from her own heart.
"You're really good at talking, such a flirt," Hyungwon joked. Her hand accidentally hit Hoseok's chest because Hoseok nearly made her heart jump out of its place. The truth is, she was nervous like Hoseok.
"May I... Ummm?" Hyungwon did not go on, but Hoseok seemed to understand. Slowly, He grabbed Hyungwon's hand and placed it on his cheeks. Hyungwon blushed, her cheek feels hot. Warm and soft, which Hyungwon feels as her hand touches Hoseok's face. Hyungwon shut her eyes, her two hands were feeling Hoseok's cheeks. Hyungwon was trying to picture how is Hoseok looks "You have beautiful eyes and nose" says Hyungwon at random. Hoseok smiling a lot, he finds Hyungwon's behaviour cute.
Suddenly Hyungwon stopped for a moment, she hesitated, she really wanted to feel it, but she thought it was a bad idea. "It's alright Hyungwon, don't stop" Hoseok who caught what was Hyungwon thought slowly grabbed Hyungwon's hand and put them on his lips.
Hyungwon's cheeks flushed again as her fingers touched Hoseok's lips. It was so soft, Hyungwon even thought how it would feel on her lips. But suddenly reality came back and knocked her out of her wonderful dream. Her heart felt heavy, she felt very small all of a sudden. Hyungwon wondered why the perfect Shin Hoseok liking herself who is full of flaws.
"Sorry, 'cause I'm not perfect" Hyungwon said her voice trembled. Her nose was red, she was holding back her tears. Yet the beautiful beads seem to have filled Hyungwon's eyelids. In a flash, the beads fell on Hoseok's hand.
Hoseok gently wiped Hyungwon's tears. It seems that Hoseok is also crying. "Hyungwon-ah, do you think I'm perfect? You were wrong Hyungwon. On the other hand, I also have many shortcomings, even though I seem to have a perfect physique, but that does not guarantee that I am perfect" Hoseok then brought Hyungwon into his arms and hugged her tightly. Hyungwon was a little surprised, but she responded timidly to the hug.
" It might be written today, that it is time for us to meet" Hoseok whispered, wiping off his tears. His heart was very happy "My other half " he said softly. "It's time for us to complete one another. I can be your eyes, I can be your man, I can be your hero" Hoseok said.
The last two sentences were hardly heard because Hoseok said it very slowly. But because Hyungwon has a really good hearing ability, she heard it clearly. Immediately Hyungwon laughed hard and buried her face on Hoseok's chest and tightened her hug on Hoseok's waist. "Such a flirt," Hyungwon told in her heart.
They stayed in that position for quite some time. Until ... "Mmm monna nmill mwee mff mwee mnreak mm mneart" Hyungwon murmured while her face was buried in Hoseok's chest.
"Huh? What?" Hoseok could not catch what Hyungwon was saying.
"I'm gonna kill you if you break my heart," Hyungwon said clearly.
Hoseok, who heard what Hyungwon said, began to laugh. For god's sake, Hoseok feels very lucky and grateful to have met Hyungwon who is so perfect for him. In silence, Hoseok vowed that he would never waste this meeting. If he is given the chance to bring happiness to the fragile women in his arms, he will do it with all his heart.
"Is that how you say YES". Hoseok is still laughing. "Believe me Chae Hyungwon". Hoseok held both of Hyungwon's cheeks looking right into her beautiful brown eyes. "I love you Chae Hyungwon" Unknowingly, his eyes fell on Hyungwon's cherry lips. Slowly Hoseok brought himself closer until finally, their lips met.
Hyungwon was kind of surprised by the sudden kiss, but for some reason, she likes the kiss. Can she say to Hoseok that it is her first kiss? Thousands of butterflies flew in Hyungwon's stomach. Hoseok makes Hyungwon feel very peaceful. She hopes that today will not come to a quick end.
"Shin Hoseok I think I'm falling for you, I love you too," said Hyungwon. She didn't say that directly. Let her save it for later. For now, let them have their time.
