Chapter 1

I lay in bed staring at my window. It’s raining. Issac loved rain. It made no sense to me whatsoever. It makes the ground sticky, flooding, and wet socks! But Issac didn’t care. I remember one night he said he’d show me the moon. It was a dark night. He took me to the rooftop where we met. “Ella Rose Cruz, my love. I promised you the moon.” Gosh he was perfect. He had set out a table and two chairs just for me. He had Flowers laid on the table with a delicious meal causing a wonderful aroma. “Issac, you didn’t have to do all of this.” I say feeling guilty. “We agreed no gifts for our anniversary this year!” “Oh, come on, my love. Just take it as a thank you for looking at the sky with me on this wonderful night. I love you Ella.” “I love you too, Issac.” We were 16 and in love. That night he showed me the moon just as promised. There was nothing special about that very moon that night. He just wanted to show me it. I thought that was weird. Until I saw a helicopter with a banner saying. “Happy anniversary my princess.” “Issac!” “Don't yell, just enjoy it.” “How much money did this cost you?” “You don’t wanna know.” He laughs out loud and hands me a box. A rectangular box. What lies inside is a tiara. “For my princess.” “Issac.” “Think of it as a late birthday gift.” “I love you, Issac Henry Rosa.” You may think of us as that annoying couple that makes people jealous. If you do, You're right. That night I brought him a Crown. It’s very special. I’ll explain later on. I get out of my thoughts when I hear a knock at my door. “Ella, you okay?” “Mom?” I get out of bed and open the door slightly. “Yes?” “Ella, I know you’ve been going through a lot since Issac. I got you something. His mother gave it to me to give to you. He’s never had the chance to give it to you.” A rectangular box. On the box lies a label. “For my princess, Ella.” “He left that for me?” My eyes start to tear up. Did he know? Was it planned? “Ella. He loved you so much. It’ll get better I promise you, honey. You just have to wait.” “How’s aunt Clara?” (Issac’s mom) Issac’s mom and my mom have always been close. In high school aunt Clara got pregnant and my mom did at the same time so they thought they were destined. I know it’s cringe. Anyway they were best friends and they acted like sisters. My mom taught me to call her aunt Clara at just one. They’ve always been there for eachother. I’m like her second daughter. They often came over for family dinners. “I don’t want you to worry, sweetie.” “Why do you say that? Is she bad?” “No, no she’s just grieving honey you have to give her time. I’ve invited her over for dinner. Let’s hope she comes.” She sighs and places her hand on my hair, and puts a hair blocking my face behind my ear. “We’re all gonna be okay.” “I know. I just. I miss him.” “I know, me too.” In the box lies a letter. You’ll see it later on. You may be wondering how Issac died exactly? He drove his car into a tree. Yeah, he committed suicide. Sometimes I wish it was me that died. I feel guilty for not knowing. So Issac until we meet again. I’m broken. Your last words will never leave my head. The memories will never leave that box. That box that held the tiara is where all my pictures of us together lay. I miss you Issac. “Ella?” I realized I had spaced off. “Mhm?” “When are you planning to head back to school? I’m not rushing you, it's just. This is your senior year. “I don’t know, probably soon.” “Let me know when you’ve made up your mind Kay?” “I think I’ll be back on Monday.” Today is Friday. “That's amazing, hun. I’m so proud of how you are handling this.” “Thanks.

Monday February 3rd

I walk into the school doors. All eyes are on me. I remember getting in trouble by these very doors. Issac and I were throwing snowballs at each other. “Ella!” Issac picks up his hand and throws the snowball with force making its way onto my back. “Issac!” I scream. We chase each other with snowballs. Everyone thinks we’re crazy. We don’t care. Soon the principal walks out her face showing she’s infuriated. “Ella and Issac to my office now!”

“Ella?” I look behind me. It’s Mikayla. “Sorry I was spacing out.” “Thinking about Issac?” “Yeah.” “It’s okay with me too, it's been very hard, you know? Because he’s my ex and all.” “This bitch.”
