Chapter 1 Raphael
Chapter 1
When Raphael woke up, he realised immediately that he was no longer in Heaven. But this didn’t feel like Hell either. Where on earth am I? he wondered. The surroundings looked just like a place in the mortal world, yet there wasn’t a single person in sight. He knew God was angry with him, but he had never imagined the punishment would be like this. He remembered when Elijah had fallen out of favour—yet even then, he hadn’t been banished. Elijah had been involved with Lillith, and later with Aphrodite, and still God hadn’t acted this harshly. So why was he being treated this way? Or perhaps this wasn’t a punishment at all, but a mission of some kind? Whatever it was, he needed to work it out quickly.
“Why am I here? What is it you want me to do?” he shouted towards the sky, half hoping someone would answer.
“Maybe you’re here because you’re lost,” a voice said behind him.
He spun around to see a stranger standing there.
“I’m LT,” the stranger said.
“I’m Raphael.”
“As in the Archangel Raphael?”
“Yes—that’s me.”
“I’m glad you’re here then.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because I’ve been trying to find a way off this island for ages,” LT replied.
“Where exactly are we?”
“Depends who you ask,” LT said with a faint smile. “Some people call it the Lost Island. Others know it as the Forgotten Place.”
“Why?”
“Because once you end up here, you’re as good as lost—and everyone forgets you exist.”
“What exactly are you, LT?”
“I’m a Scorpion Elf.”
“I’ve never heard of such a kind before.”
“I’m not surprised. We stay hidden in the shadows, hunting down demons and monsters before they get the chance to hurt or frighten innocent people. That’s what we do.”
“It sounds like a better job than mine,” Raphael said.
LT looked at him seriously. “It will be dark soon. Trust me, you don’t want to be out in the open when night falls here.”
“Will you just tell me what is going on?” Raphael asked, growing frustrated.
“I never imagined angels would have such a sharp tongue,” LT joked.
He took Raphael by the hand and led him towards the shelter he had made.
“I’ll explain everything once we’re safely inside,” LT promised.
