Beautifully Crafted Story
"The sea is relentless…that’s the last line of the story and it portrays so much with so little. The story is one of adventure and romance but goes deeper than just a simple story. The characters are perfectly flawed and their arcs within the story are well developed and a joy to read. There’s loss and pain but there’s also a love story that is satisfying to watch unfold. Great storyline and well done characters aside, the writing is beautiful. There are paragraphs upon paragraphs where every word is absolute perfection. These moments are a great example of how writing should be - each word has meaning and are strung together not just to sound beautiful but to portray depth and emotion. Easily one of my favorite books!"

" Alright, first things first this book? It goes off like a frog in a sock. From the moment you crack it open, you know you’re not in for a walk in the bloody park. The relationship at the heart of it? Rocky as a ute on a dirt road. One minute you're swooning, next minute you’re yelling at the pages like a lunatic. It’s got twists sharper than a Bondi rip and turns that’ll leave your head spinning faster than a round of bachelor rose ceremonies. Now don’t get me wrong, the pacing’s a bit like dating someone spicy you’re left waiting between chapters, and yeah, it makes you twitchy. But when the story comes back, it comes back hot. Full of humor, heartbreak, and suspense that’ll leave you wondering why you ever bothered with sleep in the first place. The ending? Mate… It hits you right in the guts. Not because it’s bad but because it leaves you wanting more. Like, you’re sitting there thinking, that’s it? That can’t be it! "I can only gush about how great of a read this is! You follow Ophelia on a journey that keeps you on the edges of your toes and has you craving for more. Beautifully written with descriptive passages and highly researched scenes. This swashbuckling, high seas adventure story had me hooked from the beginning. Even though it’s still not complete I am in love. I root for our heroine and I root for our pirate. Oh, and did I mention the slow burn romance? Easily The Best Historical Fantasy Work I Have Read,
"I would like to preface this with as of this review I am 4 chapters in. Wow, Just wow! This is by far one of the best works I have read, not just on Inkitt but in general, the descriptions are fantastic, the characters are well made and communicated. The author has clearly done her research on the time period, sailing terminology and the dialects of the region. It is abundantly clear in almost every paragraph how amazing her grasp on the written word is. I am a huge history buff myself and an author who loves scene setting and imagery and I feel entirely outclassed. If you love History, pirate culture, strong female leads, or honestly just reading in general this book deserves to be at the top of your read list. I will be adding more to this review as I read more! A bit frustrated I can't just sit and binge the whole thing right now but New Years Eve prep calls. -- Shiori "

"Ophelia Warwick is not a woman who can be controlled. A bit of a tomboy with a hunger for adventure, she refuses to allow society’s conventions to dictate what she can and cannot do, and that includes her father the governor. While on a boat to celebrate her brother Frederick’s birthday, they are suddenly attacked by pirates. Ophelia is dressed as a man, but she knows this alone will not save her. She jumps into action. First by leading her brother into the captain’s quaters. Then by stabbing the pirate that succeeds in breaking into the room. But it is not enough. Her brother heroically lowers the rescue boat for the two of them but is shot and kidnapped. The last Ophelia sees of Frederick is from being carried on the back of another pirate. I could go on but then this review would last forever, so I’ll stop with the recap here. But well done author, Margot. I felt like I was reading a book from the book store, it was so well-written. There were no head-hopping in this story, or confusion with past or present tense. I also enjoyed how the author shows us what is going on in her story, instead of flat-out telling us the plot. It makes it so much easier to engage in the story that way. I love the pirate romance genre and this novel reminded me of one of one of my favorites, Captive Passions’ by Fern Michaels. I’m keeping my eye on this author. I wouldn’t be surprised to find her novels on Amazon some day."

"I love the spitfire of a main character. I was hooked by the first chapter and was completely engulfed by chapter four. This story has me impatiently waiting for the next chapter. Read if you like a Mulan-esque heroine with a pirate twist."

"Having never read a pirate book before, I was instantly hooked by the premise of this one. The story is impeccably edited with almost no grammatical or punctuation errors, showcasing a high level of refinement. The dialogue is authentic, and the setting descriptions are so vivid that they effortlessly bring the scenes to life. While I found the pacing of the story to be a bit fast, I recognize that this all comes down to a matter of personal preference. Overall, this book is an enthralling read that sets a exceptionally high bar for pirate-themed adventures. "
