Chapter 1

Friday, August 9th. It was the weekend at last, I sat alone on the bus -somewhere in the back- listening to music and reading a book. I’m a bit of an outcast at school, I've never done anything wrong but everyone seems to hate me, maybe because I don't fit in? Either way, everyone hates me, but I don't really care. When the bus got to my stop I slid my book into my bag and got off the bus, not without hearing a comments like, “fuck you” or “kill yourself” or “dumb whore”. I start walking to the store nearest to my bus stop. I desperately needed food, especially after the fact that my lunch was pushed on the floor. I went into the store and scanned the aisles before going and tossing it all onto the counter, it wasn't much, just some chips, the sandwiches that they sell, and a soda. Once I pay I leave but unfortunately enough I see Aubrey, Regina, and Heather. They shouldn't be here..they don't usually come here, not at this time..

I quickly run off to the side, hiding behind a car, and they go into the store. The minute they enter, I run for my life, trying to get as far away as possible. Eventually I do reach my house, I unlock the door and enter. “Sir?” I yell, and as I assumed, no reply. My dad isn't home yet, luckily enough for me. I go up to my room and start doing my homework, then I hear the front door open, my heart just stops, I start climbing out of the window, but then my bedroom door swings open. “Shit!” I slipped and fell out of the window and hit the ground, luckily I wasn't unconscious. I was going to run but I heard someone behind me, “Hm, I guess falling out of windows is normal for people who get bullied?” They say, I turn around quickly and am surprised to see Jocelyn, the girl who got transferred like, 3 days ago. “Oh shit…you scared the hell out of me..how did you find my house?” I asked, “I saw you get off the bus and I followed you because you left a bunch of money behind.” She replied, handing me the few hundred dollars she had in her pocket. “Well..thanks.” I said, grateful that it wasn't Aubrey, one of her goons, or someone else, I would have never gotten that money back..

I heard my dad yell my name and ushered her into the backyard, sprinting behind her. We hopped the fence into the neighbors backyard, I knew him and his family so it was okay. “Why are we hopping fences like we robbed a damn bank?” She asked, I knew I should've explained first but it would be useless so I refused. “It doesn't really matter.. Just don't tell my dad you saw me if you decide to leave.” I said, a bit harshly to be honest, but I had to be sure she wouldn't snitch. I looked over and saw her tugging on her sleeve, “I’m not going anywhere, trust me.” She said, sounding so sure of herself and a bit intimidating.. I was about to knock on my neighbors back door when I heard them again, “You can't run from him forever, Sayge.. Just give in and go back into the house, the more you run the harder he's gonna hit you.” I wasn't going to listen to some voice in the wind, it was stupid of me to not listen though.. “Are you okay?” I hear Jocelyn ask, “Oh yeah…i'm fine, sorry” I reply, my voice a bit low. I finally knock and Luka opens the door, “Sup” Luka, the gayest girl in town, nobody really thinks she's a girl since she can fight and hates dresses, but I'm her friend so I know she isn't a guy.. “Hey Luka, I need-” “Seeking refuge from your dad again?” She interrupts, “Well…yeah” I say, embarrassed that she knew without me even saying it. “Yeah, cmon, and little ms. depression can come in too.” “Hey! I am not depressed!” I hear Jocelyn say as we all enter the house.

I sit on the couch and Luka sits with me, a few minutes later her twin brother Lukas runs down the stairs, “Omi gosh, Hi! When I saw you fall out the window I was WAITING for you to come on by!” “I'm not staying long Lukas, my dad should leave soon and I can go home.” “Really Sayge… God, I hate you sometimes. Always killing the mood.” He rolls his eyes, and I hear my dad get in his car and speed off, “That's me, bye guys.” I say, walking out, and jocelyn follows - only to head home of course- I go home and sit in my bed finishing my homework.
