Chapter 1
April 13 Monday, 2020.
The time was around 1:53 and 6th period was still in session at Starlight Academy High School, and there students were either looking at the clock, reading, paying attention to the teacher, or on the computer. And a blonde girl wearing small square glasses was just doing that in the back row of the doing just that, as she was on the computer she was shown to be on some coding class on a HTML website while listening to some music showing to be Justin Timberlake ‘Can’t stop the feeling’ and she was humming to it as well on her wireless headphones. As that was happening someone was poking on her elbow with a pencil as she notices it the girl lowered the volume of the headphones and music itself and she turned around and looked behind showing ti be a boy looking just about his age
“Finally i was worried you were about go deaf” The boy said
“Not anytime soon, Jason, so what’s up?” The girl asked calmly laughing a bit
“Well, remember the sweep stake happening today? It’s gonna happen around 2:30 i just can’t wait, can’t you Dexter?” Jason asks back
“Of course! Why wouldn’t i be? You know how much i love technology!” Dexter says kind of loudly.
“Plus it’s not even in stores yet you know, and only one can win it!”
“Well Miss Stryker it looks like you might know the answer then can you answer what’s on the board here?” The teacher asks sounding sarcastic as he points out a Math problem
Then as she looks at the clock she gets her bag together and stands up, and as she did the bell starts to ring. Then every student got up immediately and some walked out of class while some were putting there computers away. And as that happens Dexter was right by the door
“Well sorry but don’t have the time left, maybe next time Mr. Perk” Dexter answer sarcastically as she sticks her tongue out a tiny bit and heads out the door humming
The moment she was out the door Jason was right behind her and he puts his arm around her neck
“Ha-ha, man finally that was over. Now that we’re finally out of prison we can officially head out to the space needle for that sweep stake!” Jason says sounding hyper
“Ok whatever you say buster, but before we go. Would you mind getting your arm off of my neck please” Dexter asked politely
“Oh right sorry” Jason says pulling his arm away, “got caught up in my excitement moment”
“Yeah i bet” Dexter laughs
Then she sees a physically fit tanned teen walking out of the classroom with his soccer ball and was shown kicking it repeatedly in the air for show
“Hey it’s Al, looks like he’s still prince charming as ever” Jason jokes and then Dexter shakes her head mildly as a smile was on her face
“Hey Alex!” Dexter yells out to the Athlete
Then Alex stopped at what he was doing and turned around to his left and sees Dexter and Jason walking towards him, as he does he smiles and walks up to them.
“Hey guys” Alex said calmly as he fist bumps Jason “So how’s your day?” He asks
“Eh, same old teachers, same old bordem, same old sweet taste of freedom out of this joint!” Jason answers
“So, same old same old?” Alex asks sarcastically
“In plan english yes” Dexter answers, as the three of them starts to laugh a bit.
“So where are you off too Alex? Soccer Practice?” Dexter asks
“Yeah, got a game coming up on Saturday i need all the practice i can get” Alex answers
“Aww, why you got to be such a buzzkill man, come on loosen up a bit” Jason says
“Dude, as much as i agree with you Jason. Mr. Star Player here needs to get in shape if he’s gonna win the tournament, like he does every year” Dexter Jokes
“Hardy har guys, look maybe when i’m free maybe we can hang out together, speaking of sports that reminds me, Dex. weren’t you on the schools female basketball team once before” Alex asks Dexter
“Yeah only until 9th to 10th grade” Dexter answers
“Why stop now? You were such a great player on the team” Alex said
“Yeah but i thought i focus more on where my pride really is, and that is being on my lazy ass on the computer all day doing coding” Dexter said sounding proud
“That’s not good for you missy, you could lose those good looks of yours good bye if thats what you want” Jason says as Alex snorts in
“Shutty” Dexter says to Alex who was trying to hold in his laugh
“Anyways, i gotta go see you guys some other time” Alex said returning his composure and starts walking away
“Alright later man” Jason says and then Dexter punched him in the ribs “Ow! What was that for?!” He asks
“That's for making fun of my hobby jerk” Dexter says as she sticks her tongue out at him and starts walking out the door
“Ugh Women...” Jason says quietly
“I heard that!” Dexter said Offscreen
“Ugh, damn her heighten hearing” Jason mumbles as he walks out the door with Dexter.
As they arrived at the school bus, Dexter finds a seat and Jason sits next to her and sees her with her cat wireless headphones on and was listening to some music on her glass phone with futuristic holograms out of her phone
As Jason was attempting to say something Dexter pulls out a flashcard with a note on it ‘Do not bother the great enjoyment of my music til notice by me is authorized good day’ and as Jason sees that He sweatdrops about it
‘Weirdo’ Jason says in his mind and then he just shrugs it off and minds his own business and just looks on his phone on the bus ride away from school.
The time was around 2:10 P.M. As they arrived in Downtown Seattle the bus stopped at a block close towards the Space Needle and teens were starting to get off the bus including Jason and Dexter who was still on her phone listening to her music.
“Hey Dex, put down the Index and look ahead were here!” Jason yelled out to her.
Dexter looks up and opens out one of her ears and looks at Jason
“What?” Dexter asks
“I sad put down the Index and look ahead of you!” Jason yells out again, and as she understood that she forced her Index phone down and it turns to a small rectangular object and puts it in her pocket.
“So what am i looking at?” Dexter asks again
’Were close to the EMP Museum you know where the Sweep stakes are for the Linker Jason Answers.
“Really! Then come on let’s go already!” Dexter says as she runs off towards the Space Needle while pulling onto Jason
“Whoa! Take it easy girl!” Jason yells out
After 15 minutes of running they finally arrived at the EMP Museum while Jason was stopping to catch his breath, Dexter quickly walked inside the Museum and Jason just followed her inside. As they went in she quickly looked at the sign and looked upstairs as they do they see a booth saying ‘Linkers sweep stake participants over here’
“Looks like we’re at the right place” Jason joked, and then they both head towards the booth.
“Hello are you here to join the Linker raffle ticket?” The booth lady said to the both of them.
“Why yes we are ma’am” Jason says slyly.
“What he said” Dexter said.
“Ok grab your riffle tickets and go to the sky church right behind me” The lady says to them.
As soon they got there rifle tickets, Dexter looks right behind her and sees around 100 people in crowds who had there Rifle tickets waiting to announce the winner for the Linker.
“Holy shit, but i should have expected this many people to come and win the Linker as much as we do” Dexter said calmly.
“Tell me about it, oh well let’s just get this over with” Jason says
Then as Dexter and Jason reaches in the crowd they try to squeeze in the crowd to see what’s happening, as they arrived to the front they see a a handsome man with slick back hair wearing in sky blue button shirt with sleeves rolled up, black pants, brown belt, and male heels shoes with a megaphone in his hands. And then next to him was box underneath a sheet.
“OMG Jerry Bradford is here!” A woman said right behind them
“God damn for a inventor he’s sure is fine as hell” Another one said sounding seductive.
‘Eww gross’ Dexter thinks in her head, “Looks like it’s about to start” Dexter says
“Looks like it” A women’s voice was heard right next to her
Then Dexter turns around and sees a girl with silver hair and fair skin wearing gray sweatpants, a blue jacket, and a pink tank top underneath it.
“Hey Sammy you here for the Linker as well?” Dexter asks.
“Yep, and god i hope i win this one, so i won’t have to pay when it comes to stores” Samantha says.
“Ha-ha i feel you” Dexter says laughing.
“Well tough luck ’cause that Linker is gonna be mine” Jason says sounding confident.
“With your luck thats highly unlikely” Samantha laughs
“Hey! Be nice!” Jason says pouting a bit and the two girls started laughing.
“Ssh! It’s about to start!” A man said two rows behind them and then the Megaphone was starting
“Hello there ladies and gentleman” The man on the megaphone says.
“As so you already know my name is Jerry Bradford and here as you know already i will giving out the prototype of my latest invention the Linker to the winner of my contest” Jerry says.
He reveals from under the sheet and it was shown as a futuristic looking iPhone System which looks like a regular iPhone but the screen was full glass from top to bottom along with a futuristic looking case around the edges of the Linker. And then as Jerry Bradford picked it up the crowd starts to clap and cheer.
“Thank you thank you, now before i give this away how about i demonstrate how this works” Jerry says as pushes the button at the middle of the handle.
“Linkers, may look like an retro version of an iPhone, rest in peace Steve Jobs. But these babies are more special than that. And for you to show you i need all of you to bring out your Index’s and turn it on if you please” Jerry says
Then after that most of the Crowd including Dexter and Jason brought there Index out and pulled it up, and as that happens it turns on automatically.
“Thank you now with Linkers, here i can just work this here and now i can either send my lovely A.I Emilia directly into your Index, go on Emilia” Jerry said as he directly links his Linkers to everyone's Index
As that happens Dexter looks at her Phone and looked surprised and amazed as she sees an A. unit on her phone flying around and so does Jason.
“Hello, my name is Emilia it’s nice to meet you Dexter Stryker” Emilia says as she disappears from her phone into dusts.
“Whoa” Dexter and Jason says in unison
Then Dexter notices her phone and sees a couple of new Apps on her phone with a question mark on it.
’Huh? When did these get here?” Dexter says noticing the Apps, as she tries to delete it, it shown no ‘X’ symbol at the top left of the two Apps
‘What the hell?’ She thought again.
“Hey, Jay, is there any changes on your phone just now?” Dexter asks
“Let me see” Jason says as he scrolls through his phone Apps and such.
“Not that i know off, why you ask?” He asks
“...No reason” Dexter says, and then she pays attention to Jerry Bradford
“Next it’s time to show you another feature that this can do, can you bring out the drone please?” Jerry says
Then some interns brought a Dollie with a full sized robotic drone, as soon they turn around the drone they both were both huffing and puffing by the weight of the drone they were forced to move around.
“Thank you two, now allow me to demonstrate” Jerry says as he connects his drone and it turns on with red eyes glowing.
“Yes, master?” The robot says as he starts moving towards Jerry Bradford.
“Yes, can you please get me the Model-XL213 computer for me please?” Jerry asks again
“Yes sire” The robot said, as the crowd was astonished from looking at the Robot
“This is one of the features you can control machines that are closest to you like Microwaves, ovens, robots, practically anything really. But i would advise not to use this feature unless it’s an emergency folks” Jerry said
Then the Robot came back with the monitor and the desktop computer of the Model-XL213 and then he started up the wireless computer and the Monitor and the Desktop immediately turned on.
“Than you very much, now with Linkers other feature and i’m sure it won’t be as much as a surprise but you can connect with it and can chat to just about anyone, but an even better function is that when you multi link with another Linker you can talk or chat to relatives or friends without having to touch your Index, computer, or laptop” Jerry explains
“But that’s gonna wait until these hits the market folks!” Jerry laughs.
“Man this guy’s humor is kind of lame” Jason says quietly to Dexter and Samantha
“I’m pretty sure the word ‘lame’ is just putting it lightly” Samantha says
“Agreed” Dexter added in.
“Anyways without further ado, i hope you have your raffle tickets folks because it’s time for one of you people to win yourselves the first ever prototype Linker!” Jerry yells out enthusiastically and the crowd starts to cheer.
“Alright! This is it!!” Dexter says sounding excited and a bit hyper as she looks at her Raffle Ticket Number
Then a slot machine was spinning and as it stops spinning it printed out a raffle ticket, and then Jerry grabbed the Raffle Ticket and looks at it.
“Alrighty folks, and the number on here is...” Jerry pauses.
